| Gagg User Info... | So this mornings Water Bottle conversation took place when an Armchair Cynics song played. One person said the lead Singer worked at Cost-Co, another said NO he doesnt. Accordingly to all the "hear-say" i heard today from my sister. The lead singer of Armchair Cynics has been alleged to have been involved in an inside shoplifting scam at Cost-Co, which supposedly got him fired. Also, according to my UNRELIABLE source, there were 2 others involved. My opinion. Rumours fucking suck. For all we know the AC could be off on tour somewhere (they have a record deal). Why would the lead singer NEED to steal from Cost-co when Chad Kroeger pays his bills. Do rockstars work? People going around spreading this shit ( i guess i am guilty too) could end up slandering the guy, whoever he is. but all the same, if charges are laid we live in a society that entitles us to know about charges unless a judge puts a gagg order. Keep supporting Armchair Cynics dont listen to rumours. So to all you musicians community residents. I think i may have done 20 shows in total with AC. I did a Video with them. They are Hardworking guys, they deserve more than what Record Deals give bands. They all have day jobs, Adam is a killer Producer, Kenn does Cost-Co, and probably makes more than the most of you, and Ryan always had shit on the go ( i think he was a pimp). In total, my profit while doing the rockstar thing was (-) 2000$. Big difference from what everyone else thinks musicians make.There is NO money in Record Deals. Even if you are doing shows, Video, CD's, Shirts etc. I made 800$ a month working as the house band guitarist at the Glen Lake Inn for crying out loud. You have sell millions of records to make money. | J User Info... | i think people lose the aspect of what a "million" really means these days... in terms of a "record deal", its like selling your product... how do you expect profit on a couple hundred sales at 15$ each when theres 4 people plus expenses of doing what you do. The business aspect of a band is like running a retail outfit/wholesaler, you gotta think in the exponential value of a product... will a million people buy this or just a couple? will a million people download it or just a couple?... I think its enlightening and good to hear actual feedback from someone who has been in that type of situation(pierce w/ armchair etc..), in that it sheds light onto the big picture. | alain User Info... | All the big money some of you might be thinking of goes into the cd and such and needs to be payed back. Doing what they're doing (recording with bigger names, touring, etc..) costs a lot. Not until those loans are paid back with CD sales do they start to see money, and hopefully the continue to see money before having to take out another loan for the next CD (if they're not dropped for low sales). Cost-co is not stealing from you. Anyone who thinks that is stupid. If you want to be 'punk', get your facts straight. The harm they're doing is mainly to other stores, because it's hard to compete with such a large store. In fact, that goes to the extent that it's almost the opposite of them stealing from you. They let you save a lot of money. If you're all for small businesses, then the best way to support them is directly. A huge company won't feel a couple thefts, but a small company will feel a couple sales. PS Kenn is a strict law abider.
