_Griphin_ User Info... | The frigging company that built Canada was sold to American interests today for $1 Billon?!? WTF?!? Today I feel less Canadian now. - Thu, 26 Jan 2006 6:01pm
Dr.DoomXXX User Info... | I bet it's all harpers fault. fuck I hate that goof. There will be more to come, just wait. - Thu, 26 Jan 2006 7:49pm
Manifest Destiny, you canadian pussies User Info... | We already own most of your sorry assed country as it is,including your resources, thanks to free trade, and have now for some time. So stop crying about a store that you passed everyday, without going in , on your way to Wal-Mart or some other huge American company. Maybe if you Canadians valued "The Bay" as much as you preached, you would have shopped there at least once, and maybe jerked off into the Canadian flag while singing "oh canada" in the bathroom. - Thu, 26 Jan 2006 8:57pm
Mi*coll* User Info... | Man, we gotta nationalize. I keep saying it. China owns our coal companies, the US owns everything else... When are we gonna wake up. Seriously, we are one of the most foreign-dominated countries in the world, if not THE most. - Thu, 26 Jan 2006 9:43pm
_Griphin_ User Info... | Just because many people didn't shop there does not mean an American company can buy it. It's sad, really. - Thu, 26 Jan 2006 10:01pm
ROSS B AY User Info... | who cares. - Fri, 27 Jan 2006 4:19am
SickFuk User Info... | Hell, even Molson Canadian is an American product now that it's been bought out by Coors 'ere - Fri, 27 Jan 2006 5:10am
bRaT User Info... | Just wait until the world's oil supply is substantially depleted [and it won't be long from now]. You aint seen nothin yet! We're in for some big changes. - Fri, 27 Jan 2006 9:42am
jackass User Info... | Good ol' NAFTA huh? - Fri, 27 Jan 2006 1:14pm
Mi*coll* User Info... | Canada used to have rules about foreign ownership. Not anymore. We are one of the few places in the world without such regulations. Remember a few months ago when the Chinese Gov't tried to buy a small American oil company? Congress shit their pants and wouldn't allow it. But when the same thing happens here it barely makes the business section. We have to WAKE UP. It sucks that The Bay is sold, but more important are our resource-based industries. - Fri, 27 Jan 2006 3:20pm
StarShip B.O.B. User Info... | So how many of you frequent Starbuck and 7/11 etc. They've owned us for years. - Fri, 27 Jan 2006 3:45pm

IVXX User Info... | any Man U fans here? if you want to talk about american ownership and the rights to global financial passage.... (there weren't exactly protests in the streets over our precious HB right?) - Sat, 28 Jan 2006 12:00am
Dr.Vee User Info... | Another irony is that after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbour, they own most of the real estate in Hawaii and it`s one of their favourite travel destinations. TORA TORA TORA!!! Don`t forget the bloody yanks have all our medical records too. - Sat, 28 Jan 2006 12:59pm
Mi*coll* User Info... | Personally, I try to avoid ever going into a Starbucks or a Wall Mart. But that is not the issue-- "bottom-up" solutions to this kind of thing rarely work. We need a "top-down" approach whereby legislation is enacted to limit foreign domination. Most places have such legislation. - Sat, 28 Jan 2006 3:22pm
Troutbreath User Info... | Before you get all upset about the sale of the "Canadian" HBCo read up on the history: "For many years (1889–1914) Lord Strathcona was governor. It was after his death that the real expansion of the company into retail trade and varied manufacturing took place, in the administrations of Sir Robert Molesworth Kindersley (1915–25) and Charles Vincent Sale (1926–30). In 1930 the company was split up: the Canadian stores became a separate organization, and the London portion once more turned to the fur trade. Company headquarters were transferred from England to Canada in 1970, and most enterprises other than retail stores were sold off in 1983. In 1987 the Northern Stores division, which served N Canada and had originated as the old trading posts, was sold as well, becoming (1990) the North West Company." the HBC was always an English owned and operated company until it was split up in the 70's. and Manifest.... doesn't know his ass from a teacup. - Sat, 28 Jan 2006 7:05pm
Brendan User Info... | Molson Canadian sucks, and so does the fucking Bay. I don't shop there, I don't care. Drink local beer, it's more satisfying than Molson anything, and better than shopping! - Mon, 30 Jan 2006 1:31am
Mi*coll* User Info... | Troutbreath, nearly all Canadian institutions are descended from British ones. Canada is a former colony. Something can be of English heritage and still be wholly Canadian-- like me! --Mike - Mon, 30 Jan 2006 10:23am
_Griphin_ User Info... | Figures there's a few ManU fans here. Yeah I know, didn't the American investor buy the club for 1 billion?!? (Yes, ManU is one of the few sporting clubs which always show profit) - Mon, 30 Jan 2006 1:54pm
