Dave Slaughter User Info... | so i got this art&lutherie acoustic guitar back in june, and it was workin fine, sounded good. now i find my strings are starting to go out of tune really easily, especially my b string. anyone know whats causin this? and how it might be fixed? - Mon, 23 Jan 2006 8:41pm
H User Info... | how long have you had the strings on for? they are probably just old and you need to change em. - Mon, 23 Jan 2006 9:24pm

Rubber Box User Info... | with plenty of winds around the machine head? - Tue, 24 Jan 2006 11:44am
Dave Slaughter User Info... | uh, no, not really, ill bet thats it - Tue, 24 Jan 2006 12:13pm
Destroy_The_Flesh User Info... | Stretch your strings before you tune up - Tue, 24 Jan 2006 6:38pm
SweetGrass User Info... | I had the same problem with my simon and patrick 6 string. It turns out that my strings were sitting too high on the neck and so were bending sharp. They would be fine when played open, tuned, but as soon as I played chords, off they would go. A little work to lower the action is all it needs. Of course check the basics... stretch strings, tune properly etc., but this might be your problem too. cheers, S.G. - Mon, 30 Jan 2006 12:40am
Dave Slaughter User Info... | yea, it turns out the problem was my B string just wasnt wound around the machine head enough, so it always went really low. - Mon, 30 Jan 2006 11:51am
Tink User Info... | Wait..so lots of loops makes your strings go out of tune faster, or doesn't? I have a similar problem as SG (nice initials!) where I can play an open string in tune, but an A on the E string is a different tone (slightly flat) than the A string. - Tue, 31 Jan 2006 10:52pm
Microphonic User Info... | Tink, sounds like your intonation might be off - way off if you can hear it down at the 5th fret. Get some info on guitar set-up or take it into a shop and get them to set up your bridge for ya. Cheers Dirk -- - Mon, 27 Feb 2006 12:40am
Tyler User Info... | it has been my experience that the more loops on the tuning peg, the better a guitar stays in tune, within reason (there is a plateau point of course after a few loops), provided the loops don't touch and interfere the string from where it exits the hole in the peg obviously if there is only a loop or two, it will naturally want to slide looser. kind of like single-knotted shoelaces and their tendancy to come undone. or maybe it's not like that. - Mon, 27 Feb 2006 9:41am
