\m/ User Info... | I've heard some rumours of an upcoming Victoria compliation with switchblade valentines and a bunch of other locals on it. does anybody know anything about this and if so if they're accepting submissions? - Fri, 23 Sep 2005 1:29pm
Aaargh! User Info... | There are actually 2. Brand X Media have one due out come mid January & Aaargh! Records have one due out by Christmas time.I can't speak for Jesse, though I'm sure he'll show up soon enough so's to clarify his end, though I know that Aaargh!'s is not receiving submissions anymore & the Brand X one may or may not. I'm sure info will make it's way here soon enough. - Fri, 23 Sep 2005 3:13pm
_Griphin_ User Info... | New Victoria compilations?!? Excellent!!! - Fri, 23 Sep 2005 5:14pm
Brand X Media User Info... | These rumours are somewhat true, and though I have a good level in involvement with the upcoming compilation, it is not a Brand X Media release. As for submissions, we have taken the route of selecting the bands and thought it be best not to go by a submission basis. That being said, all of the bands have been confirmed and are in the process of having their previously unreleased tracks recorded and mastered. As to who will be on the comp? You'll just have to wait and find out. Thanks for the inquiry. Cheers, Jesse - Mon, 26 Sep 2005 11:12am

_Griphin_ User Info... | That's cool, but I wonder if we'll see a punk/metal compilation?!? If I did one (that's if), I'd put on bands like: Shutdown, The Shivs, Keg Killers, Self Inflicted, Sweathogs, Remanes, Micky Christ, S.i.c.K, Friday Night Murder and AK-47 for starters. - Sat, 19 Nov 2005 6:45pm
Jesse The Malcontent User Info... | No matter what, people will find a genre neglected, but considering we live in a city with two (or three?) print magazines dedicated to stricly punk and metal, a good number of promoters who book predominantly those syles, LiveVic (which is inadvertantly dominated by Metal & Punk) it is surprising that more punk and hardcore compilations haven't come out recently. Last one I recall was Speedfreak Metabolism, plus the AYECH book/comp that's coming out. Beyond that all I can say is if you want it to happen, DIYDS - Do It Your Own Damn Self. - Sat, 19 Nov 2005 6:51pm
_Griphin_ User Info... | Don't forget about the compilation that Ricky Long is trying to finish, gawd knows he does :) The problem with releasing a compilation, making the money you invested in it back. ;) - Sat, 19 Nov 2005 9:34pm
\m/ User Info... | That comp looks wicked. I've heard meatdraw is pretty good. Can't wait to hear them. - Tue, 29 Nov 2005 6:41pm
SickFuk User Info... | You know... I think Jesse had a good point there... "Beyond that all I can say is if you want it to happen, DIYDS - Do It Your Own Damn Self." It's got my mind thinking about putting one together.... But in my case, I'd stick to metal though... Anyone intrigued by this idea, drop me a line [email protected] 'ere - Tue, 29 Nov 2005 9:20pm
Tyler User Info... | "DIYDS" - that is the reason that hardcore shows happen fairly often, the dedication of brian clement in organizing them. - Thu, 1 Dec 2005 3:03am

_Griphin_ User Info... | It's strange, perhaps it's just me but there's like 3 groups of people that go to gigs in this town, you have the more punk/metal influenced people that go to gigs I've always gone to. Then you have another group of mostly College and University students that usually go to Where's Veronica-type gigs. There's probably an older bunch too that go to either older-type music, or gigs for bands that were here in the late 50s/60's. Each group, save for a few people (for instance, the College/University people group), would never be caught dead at a Self Inflicted-type gig and vice versa. That make sense? - Sat, 3 Dec 2005 10:44pm
SickFuk User Info... | Phil... in all the years I've known you.... you've never made sense But otherwise, I'm seriously thinking about putting together a local metal compilation album as a benifit for the Tolmie Hell House... I'll update on that sometime soon 'ere - Sat, 3 Dec 2005 10:58pm
Brand X Jesse User Info... | That's funny you say that Griph. I'm actually looking at a poster for a show I helped put together a couple years back with Immaculate Machine and Self Inflicted on the same bill. Anyways,I don't think it's fair to oversimplify Victoria's live music scene into 3 simple generalizations (hardcore, college, old people?? is that it?). I think there's quite a bit more too it than that. As for the metal comp, I think it's a great idea. Any names yet? - Sun, 4 Dec 2005 12:01pm
