Ebolavire User Info... | It has been calculated that if everyone in the United States and Canada DID NOT purchase a drop of gasoline for one day and all at the same time the oil companies would choke on their stockpiles. At the same time it would hit the entire industry with a net loss of over 4.6 BILLION DOLLARS which affects the bottom lines of the oil companies. Therefore SEPTEMBER 1st has been formally declared "STICK IT UP THEIR BEHIND" day and the people of these two nations should not buy a single drop of gasoline that day. The only way this can be done is if you forward this message to as many people as you can and as quickly as you can to get the word out. Waiting for the government to step in and control the prices is NOT going to happen. What happened to the reduction and control in prices that the Arab nations promised two weeks ago? Remember one thing, not only is the price of gasoline going up but at the same time airlines are forced to raise their prices, trucking companies are forced to raise their prices, which effects prices on everything that is shipped. Things like food, clothing, building materials, medical supplies etc. Who pays in the end? WE DO! We always do! We can make a difference. If they don't get the message after one day,we will do it again and again! So do your part and spread the word. Cut and paste this meassage and send it to everyone you know. MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND MAKE SEPTEMBER 1ST A DAY THAT THE CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES AND CANADA SAY "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!" - Fri, 26 Aug 2005 10:27pm

Ebolavire User Info... | This one works if enough people participate. One day of non-purchasing disrupts the stability of stock prices. It shows the shareholders that it is not a totally stable (safe) stock to be holding. Most stock is based on conjecture and speculation, so when shareholders see there is a blip in the stability of the stock they have poured hundreds of thousands of dollars, (if not a couple million), into, many of them pull out and invest elsewhere. The first "gas-out" goes over as a blip. When more people become aware and we do it a second time, it is a disruption that can not be ignored. The only option left for the gas / oil companies is to lower prices. That is how it affects us. - Sat, 27 Aug 2005 11:02am
dumpstermesh User Info... | The only way that gas stock prices will become unstable is if people actually (insert drum roll) stop driving their cars everywhere. I'm a car owner and I know how damn convienent those things are but do people really need to drive theirs everywhere? I like to walk to a freinds house instead of driving, when it's within walking distance. I know of people who will drive to the corner store less than a five min walk from their house, or will circle a block forever in search of the two spot closer parking space. This won't make me popular, but I kinda like the gas price hikes. It should keep people from wasting so much if you have to think twice before driving around the block for a 6th time. I'm more concerned about the damage we are doing to the environment than the extra few bucks. - Sat, 27 Aug 2005 5:28pm

lonemonk User Info... | Yep, believe it or not gas prices are still not high enough. Gas is still cheaper than bottled water and coca cola. - Sun, 28 Aug 2005 10:55am
User User Info... | Actually it's not. You can get a 2 liter coke at thriftys for much less than 2 liters of gas. But I must admit, I am sort of happy that the prices are rising, especially in the US, land of the gas glutton SUVs. I laugh when I see people complaining about how much it is to fill their lincoln navigator. Looks like the late 70's are back! Oh the irony, if you look at the big tanks that they were driving back then and the big tanks they are driving now. If you are complaing about filling up our navigator, you are a hippocrate, because you helped cause the cost of fuel to rise! If the price stays up, it will give more incentive to develop more efficient automobiles. The internal combustion engine is over 100 years old, it's time for something new. - Sun, 28 Aug 2005 12:14pm
Brandon User Info... | These are almost crack prices - Sun, 28 Aug 2005 12:21pm
Zod User Info... | buy no gas days don't work. People need gas, its an inelastic item. You can keep jacking the price up, and people will keep buying it. Even if you miracously got everyone in north america to not buy gas that day, they'd have to fill up some time, probably the next day. So they'd still get their money. its about as pointless as buy nothing day. btw if you want to see gas prices drop, start blowing up SUV's. They really rack up the demand for gasoline. anyways with india and china industrializing, the oil/gas industry will not get better. The demand is going to continually increase until their isn't any oil left. When it gets high enough, it will get cheap enough to bother making an alternative. It'll probably become cost effective for industry to develop a low-cost method of creating hydrogen or something. anyways i think buy no gas day is a load of crack, won't make a difference. People need their gas :) - Sun, 28 Aug 2005 1:50pm
jackass User Info... | I saw on tv last night that BMW has developed an internal combustion engine that uses hydrogen as a fuel, but operates in the same way that gasoline engines do. I'm sure there are major differences, but the basic principle remains the same. They are targeting production in 3 years. - Sun, 28 Aug 2005 3:05pm
ML7Mike User Info... | A retired guy in the US dropped $3000 in battery upgrades into his hybrid and now gets 250 km to the gallon. He did it in his garage. City Of Vic now sell Bio Diesel and the new Colombia Fuels station going in at Rock Bay and Bay will also sell Bio Diesel. ( commercialy made from Canola, or can be homemade from used grease, and most diesel vehicles dont need any conversion kits to use bio ) The hydrocarbon chain in Canola is the same as in Diesel.. now they say that the chain in Soy is the same length as Gasoline and some scientists are trying to develop a soy based fuel for gas engines. - Sun, 28 Aug 2005 4:12pm
