Kimberleykaos User Info... | According to an article in the financial section of the National Post, Alberta's oil supply will boost Canadian currency to the strongest of any G8 nation by 2015. Quick nutshell - Alberta has oil, but it's in tar sands, making the process of extraction fairly expensive. Now with oil prices as high as they are, the cost of extraction is worth it (you can get more for the oil, so you can afford an expensive extraction process) The forcast says that with oil prices rising, Canada will become the world's largest exporter of crude oil in the world by 2015. We've already surpassed Saudi Arabia as the largest exporter to the United States. So what else will this do, apart from making Canadian currency the most valuable G8 currency? I heard a rumour that Cretien hid weapons of mass destruction out in Alberta. Someone better go invade them and find out... Yet, I have faith. A combination of the British Army, Canadian Militia, and Native Americans beat the Americans in the war of 1812. We even burned the whitehouse. :) Yeah, the Britians were teamed up with the Indians, the British shot guns and the Indians chopped the Americans heads off. Now 200 years later we're stoned lumberjacks with big fucking chainsaws, so don't fuck with us. - Mon, 18 Jul 2005 12:07pm
BBJones User Info... | 2005 is to be the beginning of the American civil war which leads to the complete collapse of the nation. So I wouldn't be too worried about what they will be up in 2015. I think if anything, it will be the other way around. A decade or more of new immigrants (lots of Americans due to their civil war) will give Canada a much larger and more capable population. Our economies rise, which in turn provides massive growth to our military power. I think it will be us invading them in 2015. I call dibbs on California. - Mon, 18 Jul 2005 12:22pm
mactac User Info... | could you point me to that article pls? thanks - Mon, 18 Jul 2005 12:25pm
_Griphin_ User Info... | Enjoy your resources while you can, I've been saying for years that the USA will invade us once there resources are close to non-existant. (Fresh water, lumber, and now oil apparently, as well as strong liquor and an abundance of marijuana :). - Mon, 18 Jul 2005 12:59pm
lonemonk User Info... | Hey Mactac I didn't see attack plans in the article of course, but the core of it is here: http://drivingspecials.calgary.canada.com/sections.asp?sesid=8973698&refid=&sec=6437&pg=1 My research (Well, 6 months ago or so) told me that Canada was still the second largest supplier after Saudi Arabia, but things change quickly perhaps. I do know we would be better off financially if we had more capacity to refine the stuff, because we have to pay a serious premium to re-puchase gasoline back from the US because Canada does not retain enough oil for domestic use (At least not enough if you include Gasoline rather than raw crude in the equation.) I don't disbelieve the National article. I have heard that these oil-sands are massive and contain decades worth of existing usage quantities. We don't have to worry necessarily aboput the US attacking, because the US is already investing *very* heavily in the oil-sands projects. They know exactly what it is all worth, and by golly they'll own the companies doing it anyway; They don't HAVE to invade.... - Mon, 18 Jul 2005 1:02pm
Kimberleykaos User Info... | Thanks for the links, as I was having troubles...it was the July 12th issue of the National Post, financial section, but couldn't find again in the archives... And I don't think there was ACTUAL attack plans...just my witty humor and great rumor starting capabilities (and a good name for the heading)...don't take everything so literally, or the sky might fall on your head... :) EDIT: Now I see your "of course", (sarcastically) where I thought you were somewhat seriously looking for it. Just ignore me. - Mon, 18 Jul 2005 1:11pm
lonemonk User Info... | In a way I was looking for it, even though I knew it was a prediction of your own. My own take on it has switched regularly over whether the US has the need or the want to even get into the hassle of military action in Canada. Basically with relaxing of foreign ownership rules and other business changes, this may never be necessary. Perhaps if they want to take over all of 'Lake Ontario', that'd be a different story, because as far as I know that is not a corporate entity. (I could be very wrong about that however) - Mon, 18 Jul 2005 1:18pm
Platoon User Info... | hahahahah fucking hilarious. - Mon, 18 Jul 2005 5:39pm
Kimberleykaos User Info... | That's ok, we're all done for in this world as we know it, as of Dec 2012...don't get me started. (Just think of me telling you, as something happens) I just live and do as I please, for today. As selfish as that may be to some, that's my motto. - Mon, 18 Jul 2005 5:50pm
Nik Olaz User Info... | we're just going to become the next large scale megatopia, while the USA descends into a drug addled, work-out frenzied nation of sleeping minds. - Mon, 18 Jul 2005 5:51pm
The One After Two User Info... | Mad Max, Mad Max, thats where this is all going my friends... Canada and the US will stay on side... to fend off the Chineese. The US and China will square off sooner or later... and this time Canada won't be able to sit it out. then, Mad Max, or Water World, whatever beefcake actor you prefer :-) Dec. 2012 it all goes down... after Canada wins gold in hockey, 2010 of course... Sidney Crosby is the Captain and averages 2.6 points a game, he is such a star. If I'm right, you all owe me one beer, alright. - Mon, 18 Jul 2005 7:23pm
Kimberleykaos User Info... | Mad Max, Hockey Gold, and Beer, I am so down, and will take that bet my friend. Mad Max life would be great, you'd all be shit outta luck with my Rockin Tricked out Comet, my stainless steel 360 rotating knife (after I convert the car to veggie fuel that is). Go Crosby! Thanks for the uplifting hockey thoughts. - Mon, 18 Jul 2005 8:20pm
wanless User Info... | BBjones, i like your take on the whole john tittor thing. But kimberlykaos, you forgot onen thing. The oil settlement just off of the coast of the Queen Charlottes is supposed to be the biggest ever found. Just one more of the many reasons why the USA will take Canada over - Mon, 18 Jul 2005 9:23pm
lonemonk User Info... | KimberlyK, if Dec 2012 is your thing then you're either into the mayan calendars or you read a lot of Terrence McKenna. My B-day is the 23rd of December, so I just may never turn 42. Which sucks cause Douglas Adams is my hero. . . - Tue, 19 Jul 2005 11:24am
Kimberleykaos User Info... | Intrigued by the mayan thing yes, but a few other interesting aspects from completely different sources, un related, which make it even more intriguing...don't live my life by shit, but defenatley keeping my peepers on that one...it's alright, I'll leave a beautiful corpse :) - Tue, 19 Jul 2005 7:37pm
The One After Two User Info... | yeah, my buddy says there is a way to triangulate three areas on the planet that may escape the impending doom in 2012... and one of those areas is 100 Mile House BC, now that is fucked, b/c that place is already a post apocolyptic waste land. - Wed, 20 Jul 2005 8:33am
Gman User Info... | Whoa, where'd all the hippies come from all of a sudden? - Wed, 20 Jul 2005 9:02am
Mi*coll* User Info... | wow. did i just read that thread? ..... one thing, tho. the us would never have to invade. they own us already. - Thu, 21 Jul 2005 3:28am
anon505 User Info... | hmmmm.... interesting how many people are already resigned to the fact that 2012 is the end all be all...I agree the whole Titor / Mayan /McKenna etc. thing is very interesting (spooky) and there is a definite relation between them but I can't help but feel that the more and more people begin to really believe it the higher the chance it will really occur........and that in itself is the most dangerous aspect of mass conditioning through controlled media. "With the growth of communication tools like the Internet, the flow of persuasive messages has been dramatically accelerated. For the first time ever, citizens around the world are participating in uncensored conversations about their collective future. This is a wonderful development, but there is a cost." wanless User Info... | It is true, the US already owns canada, sure they don't get money from us and they don't completely control us, but all the US have to do is slap a huge tariff on our softwood to kill us out, eventually. But even so almost all major corporations in Canada are US owned. In business terms its kind of like a "hostile takeover", for those of you that don't know what that means it buying up more than 50% of the shares in a company then you have ownership in it. (i am fairly certain that is what it is, correct me if im wrong though) In a way the US runs the world, I would say. They are like the big bully on the playground that no one will stand up to, even to team up and take them out won't work. I could rant about this forever because i have been telling people that the states will have taken over Canada, or at least BC by the year 2020 - Sat, 23 Jul 2005 8:36am
Mi*coll* User Info... | it has been a hostile takeover-- exactly. and now china is doing the same with our energy companies. as for this mayan crap, didn't nostradamus predict the apocalypse two years ago??? hahaha. - Sat, 23 Jul 2005 12:40pm
wanless User Info... | The whole thing with Canada surrenduring to the states every demand has been going on for decades. If any of you have heard about the AVRO arrow jet, you will realize this is true. Canada has put themselves in this position ever since electing a french prime minister, and not to mention Definbakers (sp?) screw in the whole missle defence system. Its no wonder why canada doesn't want to join the new US missle program. - Sun, 24 Jul 2005 3:43pm
