My band, 'Dead City Radio', has a show coming up next wednesday at legends. It is our first show in Victoria, we're from the cowichan valley.
I was wondering how to get in contact with a critic or photographer to get word out about how the show went with an unbiased oppinion.'
thanks - Wed, 29 Jun 2005 3:45pm

"unbiased oppinion"

Don't send to a critic, there job is to have an opinion.

If you want a review in Vic, send to Brand X and maybe Monday. There is a guy who posts on here sometimes, can't remember his handle on LiveVic... Jason, he write reviews on FlexYourHead if your band is more aggressive.

Free Listings on LiveVictoria, TC, Monday, Zone, even the Fernwood Community paper has free listings for events at the halls.

Good advice .

But do you really need to be critiqued for your first show man ? You'll be sweating bullets getting up there anyways , add a critic to the mix and you'll turn bullets into landmines . IMHO.

Good luck mate , I'm going to try and see yea man ! - Wed, 29 Jun 2005 4:57pm

We've played like 7 shows, so we are now comfortable up there, just that was in the cowichan valley and about half the people who go to the shows are people that know us. But i guess, if you went XY-SATAN and did somewhat of a review it would be just what im looking for. Just really a review of someone who doesn't know me - Wed, 29 Jun 2005 8:43pm

Just go out there, enjoy the venue, the people, and have fun with it, and the good music is sure to follow. Then maybe some of us will come back and give our thoughts on the night. (Or hell, just ask around at the gig what people thought. Most people will come up and voice what they thought anyways, and you'd be surprised the nice people and fellow musicians (aka - critics) you will meet.)
