Ian | I finally just saw these guys for the first time in my life on T.V. They sounded fuckin O.K to me! I don't even listen to that exact style of music, but shit everyone I talk to is like "oh hot heat sucks" WHY? they sound o.k to me. i don't understand why people hate these guys! are they assholes or something? they seem o.k to me. Ian - Wed, 1 Jan 2003 1:21am
ian too late User Info... | i dont really like them but i thats cuase i dont like that style of music i'm sure there fine fellows - Wed, 1 Jan 2003 1:47am
Devon | don't worry about it ian, you can say you like them. People are just fucking stupid because they are all in bands on here. They are just pissed because their death metal band/crusty punk band isn't doing shit and this emo band is...and they are kicking ass. The people on here are fucking useless untalented tits. Its more of a jealousy thing. These fuckers don't like anything that is a threat. Any band that is actually good...the sluts on here slam. But the bands that suck ass from victoria (which aren't a threat) they love. Its quiet simple actually! - Wed, 1 Jan 2003 1:58am

Ty Stranglehold User Info... | Is this a confessional? My name is Ty, I play in a punk rock band in Victoria called The Hoosegow and I like Hot Hot Heat. I feel better now Happy New Year everyone! - Wed, 1 Jan 2003 5:50am
ML7Mike | No shit, way to categorize people, Im in a metal band and yet I am always one to say I think its cool that HotHotHeat are kickin ass and finally breaking out of this city.. - Wed, 1 Jan 2003 7:22am

Anonymous | I agree- I saw them last night for the first time on TV and I think they are pretty cool- I like the Cure influence- really reminded me of them, I think they have a good sound- I was relieved they weren't a west coast skate punk band! - Wed, 1 Jan 2003 1:39pm
Nathan B | I was thinking that too. The cure influence stands out like a sore thumb. - Wed, 1 Jan 2003 2:26pm

jay brown User Info... | Hey it's o.k. h.h.h. can be your guilty pleasure. I even listened to the Smiths once in a while back in the eighties. - Wed, 1 Jan 2003 5:24pm
wronskian | blech catching a glimpse of their performance on tv last night intensified my dislike of their musical stylings. - Wed, 1 Jan 2003 5:43pm
word | devon - that is the truest thing I've read on this board so far. - Wed, 1 Jan 2003 5:53pm
hyder | I wanted to see HHH but missed them... the thing that makes me laugh is Randy Bachmans guitarist singing for Burton Cummings...My Dad listened to The Guess Who when I was a kid and to see an impersonator on stage is funny...sure play takin care of biznatch, but stop ther Randy....or re group, but dont impersonate. That is if anyone knows what I'm talking about - Wed, 1 Jan 2003 6:11pm
Jason User Info... | hey devon the only thing "simple" here is you. You know why I don't like HHH? Cause I had the displeasure of watching three of the four members act like scenester trash for far too long. Acting like fucking snobs, following every trend that happenned to drift up the coast (the spock hair cuts and tight jeans were my fav) and the whole time mocking anyone that wasn't following them blindly. why would an emo bands "success" threaten a metal or punk band? Can you answer me that? No you can't, because your a clueless fucking idiot. You and everyone else who wants to come on here and say were all just jealous of HHH need to shut the fuck up. you know absolutely nothing. die. - Wed, 1 Jan 2003 10:04pm
Anonymous | what devon said doesn't apply to everyone, but really if you get right down to it, at least part of the reason you're mad is because they're succeeding and your group is not. that's threatening. and jealousy. but call it what you want. you can say they don't deserve it and hack down they're style or whatever. but you can't hack them for buying into a style unless you hack all the other local bands that have done that as well. - Wed, 1 Jan 2003 10:25pm
Jason User Info... | can you be more obtuse? I would rather get the shit kicked out of me on a daily basis than be in the position of HHH. but whatever...carry on. - Thu, 2 Jan 2003 1:08am
Anonymous | you would rather get shitkicked everyday than travel the world playing music and quite possibly make a bit of money doing so you didn't have to come home and work at McDonalds? You're really punk. - Thu, 2 Jan 2003 1:53am
Sid | Yah Jason you punk! - Thu, 2 Jan 2003 2:12am
Ian Achimo | Yes I wish it was my band who got signed to that contract, yes I am jealous. I saw them play in Nanaimo, and could'nt believe my eyes and ears. I was in shock at how horrible they sound. Like a quirky version of the clash. Okay maybe the vocals only. The music was bad, infact, in my opinion, it was horrible. Who does this stuff appeal to? One positive thing came from seeing them, if they can get signed, anybody can. But, good for them, somebody with power in the biz saw something in them. All the hard work payed off. - Thu, 2 Jan 2003 9:02am

ROSS B AY User Info... | fuckthat they rule. right place at the right time, that's all success in music ever is. they're actually cool guys too, for a bunch of weirdo drunks. who cares, most people don't like the bands we're all in too. big deal. - Thu, 2 Jan 2003 1:02pm
Mayana User Info... | Just wanted to write a quick little reply to the remark about the boys "acting like fucking snobs". Musical or fashion snobs, perhaps. But those boys are nice kids, and even back when I was but kneehigh to a grasshopper they didn't blow me off as the scenester rule book dictates. Dunno, maybe all the bright lights are going to their heads, but I'm just saying, lets not go throwing around insults like they're going out of style. Hating the Heat is so passe in Victoria, one must come up with some better reasons than snobbery and fashion complaints. Legitimate dislike of the music I'll take. I'm sure the corresponding Vancouver site is just full of anti-Nickleback fervor. Ah but it bands us together. Gives us something to talk about on the bus and at shows. Middle aged people have regional politics. We - Hot Hot Heat: yea or nay. Embrace it, my friends. - Thu, 2 Jan 2003 1:25pm
Anonymous | JASON: what specific indication did they give U that they are snobs? please tell me what exactly made you think this way, I am curious. - Thu, 2 Jan 2003 2:15pm
Anon386 | The mailing address for the band is on Beach drive. Don't snobs come from Oak bay and the Uplands? You just base snobbery on looks anyway. What do they look like? - Thu, 2 Jan 2003 2:30pm
Anonymous | hot hot heat is gay...who sings about bandages?....brutal...get some ideas buddy - Fri, 3 Jan 2003 2:46am
Anonymous | get some ideas? wow they're the one making money with their music. maybe they've already got the right idea and you just missed the boat altogether. - Fri, 3 Jan 2003 1:36pm
Anonymous | you fucks. HHH are good. shut the fuck up. - Fri, 3 Jan 2003 2:46pm
Simon | Look, Hot Hot Heat are a good band! There is no question about that. And the fact is, there are only a handful of good bands on this island. We should be proud that a band from here got a great writeup in Rolling Stone, a mention in Maxim, and is finding great success elsewhere. It seems the attitudes of some haven't changed since I was in "the scene" a decade ago in Victoria. It's not like there is some major competition here or anything...So good for you HHH!!!! - Fri, 3 Jan 2003 2:59pm
Anonymous | the sucks continue to suck up and the fucks continue to insult. Move on, they're not that bad/they're not that great. Wait five years and see if their still around then start this thread all over again (I know a bunch of you fuckers will still be here). - Fri, 3 Jan 2003 6:04pm
jen User Info... | sammiche sammiches sammichesssssss. fuck that's catchy shit. our whole house walks around singin it. gotta give the boys that much at least. they write songs that stick in your head big time - Fri, 3 Jan 2003 7:04pm
GEORGE | "hot hot heat is gay...who sings about bandages?....brutal...get some ideas buddy - Fri, 3 Jan 12:46am" IF NO ONE ELSE HAS SUNG ABOUT IT, WOULDN'T THAT BE AN ORIGINAL IDEA? JUST CURIOUS - Fri, 3 Jan 2003 8:33pm
Vicious_Vacant User Info... | I was first row seeing them in Nanaimo, and I really love their music.I totally respect those who don't like it, I just don't respect those who are bitching about them about things like fashion sense. Although continue, 'cause it's kinda funny. Are they showing the Bandages vid on Much yet? I haven't seen it. - Fri, 3 Jan 2003 9:17pm
Leeroy Stagger | you guys are fucking fucks. - Fri, 3 Jan 2003 9:25pm
Anonymous | i saw it on muchmusic a few days ago. Not only that george said to watch out for them because they are gunna be the next big thing. - Sat, 4 Jan 2003 4:09am
Anonymous | i played with hhh at centenial square and couldnt belive my ears, so raw but with so much energy. If you listen to any of your favorite bands live, its never going to sound as good as the cd. They also rocked sugar when they opened up for the special guests, its was like havng mic jagger on stage. steve running everywhere. Now you may say that "ohh there vocalist sounds like robert townsend", whats wrong with that, most of the drunk punk bands in this town sound the same and nobody says anything. Your gonna sound like your influences. - Sat, 4 Jan 2003 11:24am
Anonymous | who the fuck is robert townsend? - Sat, 4 Jan 2003 1:47pm

Anonymous | sorry i meant robert smith - Sat, 4 Jan 2003 3:28pm
helonwheels User Info... | Robert Smith was/is the lead singer for The Cure. Kind of weird looking with poofy black hair and he wore his lipstick really messily. - Sat, 4 Jan 2003 3:47pm
arti-choked | 1. I do not consider HHH to be emo. scrEmo? maybe. Whatever it is, I kinda dig it. 2. They're really good guys--to me. Although Dante is prone to these fantastic mood swings from sarcasm to smart-ass and all the rest. But really, is that any different from *cough* many others here on this board? It's seems like whenever a band gets mildly successful, people who are just starting out tear them to shreds (now I'm stating the obvious). Chill out, kiddies, your turn is coming. - Sun, 5 Jan 2003 1:23pm
Meg | Hot Hot Heat; Protect me from your rabid followers. - Sun, 5 Jan 2003 1:26pm
Elliot | How many threads on this board have been devoted to making fun of Hot Hot Heat already? Or Limestone? It's been done already. A thousand times. Get over it. - Sun, 5 Jan 2003 8:06pm

Anonymous | having put on about 50-60 all ages shows over the past 15 years (most of them in the mid - 90s), I saw several members of Hot Hot Heat play in a variety of bands before their current band. While the music they were playing didnt stand out every night, what was impressive was their dedication to their music. 20 years from now they will be making music. Hot Hot Heat may, in 20 years, a footnote in Victoria's music history, but they will still be making music and theor success, this far, means that they are having all sorts of experiences, muscially and otherwise. When I bumped into one of the bandmembers he mentioend the influence that XTC has had, and in particular the album, Drums and Wires. http://chalkhills.org/reelbyreal/a_DrumsWires.html XTC is certainly not everyones cup of tea but they have created for themselves a living in the music business. Hot Hot Heat have created an unusual and original sound which still needs to mature but with label support they will be recording some crazy tunes. I am looking forward to their next cd. - Sun, 5 Jan 2003 11:55pm
Anonymous | oh, and by the way......life begins at the hop - boys and girls...... - Mon, 6 Jan 2003 12:06am
BONG | Who fucking cares if HHH is good or not? Face it ,the music biz is about just that biz! If HHH sells units, the record company will continue to promo them and arrange for rolling stone reviews and big show case gigs ,if not they will cease to exsist...does it really matter? HHH is now a product and if you think that shit dont pile pressure on a band you better think again....the hard part is yet to come for them, they gotta get through the second CD yet. These boys may be assholes or angels, but they signed before my band and I tip my hat to them bigtime, and if their success brings more industry ears to Victoria all the better. No matter what style of music you like Victoria has good bands to meet your musical needs...legendary scenes are built from diversity and I can name lots of bands from all styles that work all the time in Victoria that I like or dont like..the point is that there ARE lots of bands working our little scene and thats good for everyone! Bravo HHH The Monkey is Humbled..... Sticky Kola - Mon, 6 Jan 2003 12:53am
