Nat User Info... | so if there red and throbbing and bleeding...and you really need to keep playing...whats the remedy? any cream or something.........? - Tue, 25 Jan 2005 11:19am
lonemonk User Info... | If the finger damage comes only from playing the guitar then just keep playing. It'll eventually get used to the abuse. If there is some other reason get that sorted out first (ie. stop hitting it with a hammer, etc) Use anticeptic cream and one of those knew fandangeled see-through bandaids. Be careful about too much blood, cause its a REALLY good conductor of electricity. - Tue, 25 Jan 2005 11:21am
jenko User Info... | just keep playing...your calluses will develop soon enough and the pain will lessen. don't play when your fingers are soft and have been wet, like after a shower or doing the dishes. give it 30 - 45 minutes first. - Tue, 25 Jan 2005 11:23am
The Other Nick User Info... | I use 13's on my guitar...and have never had any finger problems...What the hell are you guys doing to cut your fingers so bad? - Tue, 25 Jan 2005 11:30am
Soap Dodger User Info... | Crazy Glue works well. It was originally designed to bond with skin - just layer it over the exposed area and it works for a while. Careful you don't get stuck to anything though. - Tue, 25 Jan 2005 1:10pm
Tragedy User Info... | Rookie, hahahaa...I think you pretty much have to just suck it up. I've tried bandaids, finger condoms and eight kinds of tape, among other things. Crazy glue will stop the bleeding, but the pain will still be there. Just wait for the callouses and you won't have to worry about it ever again. - Tue, 25 Jan 2005 1:18pm
Isolation Ride User Info... | Take a nice piece of 50 grit sandpaper over them red cherry ends of yours and grind real hard in a circular motion after every session.Just kidding....lol.What I used to do is take a break and do some writing or something (smoke doobs, drink a beer) The trick: get little brother to do the dishes.Combining guitar playing and keeping your hands in a dish pit, plus a shower and add a jam sesh (pain lane). You,ll get the cherry delights forever.Just let em be,fuck the cream. They,ll end up hard as a rock soon, don,t worry. It sounds like you are possibly squeezing the fret board too hard or you are just one maniac soloist.Either way,...keep em dry as much as you can.Don,t fuck with them and peel off the scalies! They fly off when you do that Malmsteen solo trust me.They,ll get hard before ya know it.When they do...I usually like to drag em on the cement a few times to encourage status. When they are where ya need em.Shred baby!..you,ll be able to do anything your heart desires.Rock on! Good luck. - Wed, 26 Jan 2005 1:24pm
Pierce User Info... | Been playing 20 years. The only time my fingers hurt are after playing a piece of shit dirty ass acoustic guitar for awhile. Other than that, mine do fine. The only way to stop the pain is to keep practising. And dont worry about "so if there red and throbbing and bleeding...and you really need to keep playing" ....cause if you are still at the "finger hurting" stage in your music career, then i highly doubt you are doing any important gigs. - Wed, 26 Jan 2005 3:29pm
Død[]Sanger User Info... | Mabye your strings are too high? Too heavy at the moment for ya? If the above or calices aren't the solution, you can try that slide spray at L&M mabye? My fingers only blead within my first couple weeks of playing, giving the cuts a couple of days to turn calice rather than ripping them up again is all I did... Just dont play so heavy and fast or with fresh damage on your hands until you have caliced up... - Thu, 27 Jan 2005 2:58pm
Onemosphere User Info... | Stop playing for a day. Skin heals quickly, but not if you keep wearing at it. - Fri, 28 Jan 2005 10:45pm
