I hope someone can answer this for me.

Limblifter is playing a show at Logans in February, and I'd love to go, but I'm only 16. Does Logans have a blacony or something that they allow under-age kids to see shows at, that's away from the bar like some venues do?

Thanks :) - Wed, 12 Jan 2005 3:46pm

Nope. Stand at the back door and listen real close like that Foreigner song. Then buy a six string and become a rock and roll star. - Wed, 12 Jan 2005 3:49pm

Standin' in the rain, with his head hung low, couldn't get a ticket, it was a sold out show, heard the roar of the crowd, he could picture the scene, put his ear to the wall, and like a distant scream.....

For the record, Josh, Tyson, Tim, Jeremy... if any of you are reading this ... YOU NEED TO COVER THIS SONG, i've been saying this for at least 2 years now!!!

Come on, as if Moneyshot wouldn't do the PERFECT cover of this song?? - Thu, 13 Jan 2005 3:47am

Sorry, Peter - despite what you'll sometimes hear on this board and elsewhere, there's no such thing as a wet/dry bar in British Columbia, and to do an all-ages show we'd have to suspend our licence for the entire day. It sucks, because we'd love to do all-ages if we could. - Thu, 13 Jan 2005 1:05pm

Word. I have looked into this myself, the liquor control board has no concept of such a thing. And it does suck.

I believe the answer is "we would love to do all ages, however we would go out of business and go broke if we did"

You have no idea how much money putting on all ages shows dosen't make =)... Even less then putting on Bar shows, which as Mr. Logan will attest to at times ain't much =) - Mon, 17 Jan 2005 8:50am

That's something I don't get, other then the poor turnout, how could you waste a ton of money putting on an all-ager? Unless Fernwood charges huge cash to rent there buildings. - Mon, 17 Jan 2005 9:47am

john - I guess my post was a little vague. A bar can only do an all ages show outside of their licensed hours (which in hour case means the show would have to finish before 10 AM) or suspend their liquor license for the entire day. To clarify my point, we would love to do all-agers IF we could make enough money at them to pay our staff, rent, utilities, soundman, etc. etc. - Mon, 17 Jan 2005 11:23am

Griphin - Putting on an AA show generally costs more then a bar show because of all the things which are not built into a club.

Venue, Sound, Stage, Lights, Security, insurance, etc

where if your at a club these things are subsidsed by the liquor sales. And if a club were to do All Ages in BC they would not be able to sell liquor and would be back to the same place as someone trying to put on an All Ages show.

No one makes money on all ages shows the way they have to be set up in town here, only way you can is from cutting corners and getting freebies, its not a profitable game plan and THAT is why there is no steady club/venue for it. - Mon, 17 Jan 2005 11:41am

I dunno, when I went to the Cancer all-ager benefit at Fernwood they had a really cool stage there. Ya need insurance just incase someone gets screwed up in the pit. Security you could probably get by asking friends to act as security for the show. I dunno. - Thu, 20 Jan 2005 9:26am

Phil we got all that cool stuff for the cancer benefit because people were willing to donate their time and supplies to a good cause. With the normal take at the door of an all ages show here in town I would have to put on five or six shows to pay for that stage once. As far as security goes we had friends that are bouncers here in town that donated their time. We have a friend that made us up the security shirts at his work. etc.etc. - Thu, 20 Jan 2005 10:25am

On that subject ^^^ When is the next one happening? We should book a date soon, if it's at FCC. Maybe Laprider would offer that sweet stage again. Anyone heard from him lately? - Thu, 20 Jan 2005 1:15pm
