Actually yes I like their music. I can just put their cd on and not change a song, well maybe for one. But it's actually quite a good sound they have.
Soundgarden is definately one of my fav bands to date, so its good to hear Chris Cornells voice once again though Audioslave is somewhat far from what soundgarden was. - Sun, 9 Jan 2005 12:51am

I haven't heard Audioslave, but at the time I thought soundgarden were pretty rocking. It beat the piss out of the rest of the grunge-bastards. Proper heavy R&R - Sun, 9 Jan 2005 1:05am

They are the epitome of overplayed, overhyped, overpayed, under-talented pseudo-metal. Yes I know they're not metal, but if thats the case, WHY DOES EVERY FUCKING CD STORE FILE THEM UNDER METAL???!! TRUE METALHEADS WANT NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS GARBAGE!!

"TRUE METALHEADS WANT NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS GARBAGE!!"
Because appealing to "true metalheads" is a fucking niche market. Get over yourself.
As far as this band goes, they lack the atmosphere that either band created. It sounds homogenized. It's like pouring two diet pops together. - Sun, 9 Jan 2005 1:33pm

never a huge soundgarden fan.
loved ratm's energy.
can't get through a single audioslave song.
the band can groove hard, but it lacks so much. - Sun, 9 Jan 2005 6:55pm

That was a whole lot better than

"no they suck"

My take on Audioslave: I never liked the rapping/yelling/singing of RATM, and I love Chris Cornell. Tom Morello is great, and the rhythm section just grooves so hard, so you'd think Audioslave would be the perfect combination. But for some reason, the album seems a notch below what Rage did, and as Aidan mentioned, the energy just isn't there. I dig some songs, and always enjoy Tom's playing, but yeah...it's not RATM - Sun, 9 Jan 2005 7:11pm

+, Cooper, couldn't agree more. To me, Audioslave is Rage lite, or as Onemosphere said (and well said I might add) "It's like pouring two diet pops together." - Sun, 9 Jan 2005 7:21pm

Onemosphere huffs farts.
What can you expect from a band that's 3/4 rage against the stupid machine.
In chris cornholes defense Sound Garden was cool 15 years ago. - Sun, 9 Jan 2005 7:51pm

I dig the bass player a lot but Audislave seems very corporate sounding compared to earlier works.
I heard that this band almost didn't come together but after a demo was "leaked" onto the internet demand developed enough for a proper release. - Sun, 9 Jan 2005 8:27pm

I think that audioslave is a very good band but both previous bands were much better, i think that a.s. is a cleaned up version of soundgarden (clean grunge, eek) or a r.a.t.m. without all ratm was about, energy, chemistry and one solitary goal. I would much prefer if chris cornel was replaced by someone more along the lines of zach de la rocha, maybe krs-one, ice-t, chuck d or maybe henry rollins. It would of also been cool if the music side of ratm stayed together and just did a musical project, no vocals just rock. But that wouldnt be played on the radio as much as a.s. and after all isnt the radio all music is about? - Sun, 9 Jan 2005 9:15pm

"maybe krs-one"
KRS-One is crazy now. He tried to convince Nas to talk to Nasa about "hip hops role on Mars".
Also, Dr.Doom, are you still angry about that stuff with your mom?

I'd like to hear a second album from Audioslave, to see if they actually try to branch out from the RATM rhythm section with Chris vocals.

The first album feels very effortless, like they didn't really attempt to break out from their collective sounds into a new "band".

I personally can't stand Zack de la Rauncha, but the RATM rhythm section is killer, and I've got a soft spot for Mr. Cornell, so I honestly hope they put more effort into it, if they put out another album.

krs-one is still the man, crazy or not.
actually zack de la sofa is actually sticking to his political guns and doing stuff with public enemy, krs-one, and other political hip hop groups and artists.

i mean, i STILL hear kids muttering lines from fuck tha police. and most of them STILL think zack wrote that stuff. - Tue, 11 Jan 2005 11:35am

i've like there album since it was leaked onto the internet many months early.
it sounds like cornel did most of the writing, maybe he had a bunch of songs ready to go. it will be good to hear a second effort from these guys after they have been touring and writing together for a couple years now.

they are not metal, but that is what makes them good. there is enough screaming cookie monsters out there.
they are good fucking rock & roll.

someone said in a previous post they were over-hyped, in what way? if you don't hype an album upon release less people will buy it. if you wanna talk over-hyped lets talk about those washed up fucks known as U2 they haven't put out any original work in over 15 years yet you can't go anywhere without hearing about that shitty album 'how to dismantle of faggy brit pop band' - Tue, 11 Jan 2005 12:54pm

KRS is full on crazy. His old shit was good, but he's so preachy it's annoying. He constantly refers to himself as some sort of authority on hip hop culture, and not only that but constantly makes comments for the entire "culture" as a whole. It's really egocentric pretentious bullshit, and not in the emo way. - Thu, 13 Jan 2005 7:38pm
