Ty Stranglehold User Info... | A Visit From Saint Vicious Twas the night before New Years and everyone’s drunk, Not a rocker was stirring not even a punk The baggies were hung by the phono with care, in hopes that Saint Vicious, yes Sid would be there The Ramones were sold out so we stayed in our sheds, While visions of slammers danced in our heads Suzy with hashpipe and I dressed in black, We had just settled in for a long playing track From out in the alley there arose such a clatter, I crawled from the couch to see what was the matter Away from the window I lurched with a crash, Tearing a poster I had from The Clash The strobe light, the acid, the new snorted snow, Gave a luster of dayglo to the objects below When to my unfocused eye should appear, A miniature stage and a band I could hear With a singer who danced by the pogo he did, I knew in a moment it must be Saint Sid More rapid than Springsteen their rhythm it came, He snarled and shouted and called them by name "Now Strummer, now Darby, now Joey Ramone On Bators, on G.G., on Cook, and on Jones To the top of the amps kick over the wall, ANARCHY ANARCHY ANARCHY ALL!" As punks before a show go out to get high, They all started to pogo and mount to the sky Up through the window the rockers they flew, with powerful speakers and Saint Vicious too And them with a twinkling I heard on the trunk, The yelling and cursing of each famous punk As I drew form my pipe and was turning around, Down the vent shaft came Saint Vicious with a bound Dressed all in black from his head to his toe, A chain from his shoulder to regions below A black leather jacket was flung on his back, He looked like a heretic freed from the rack His eyes how the flashed, his sneer so merry, He staggered right in, his breath smelled of sherry His greasy black hair was drawn up in a spike, And the other old punkers were attired alike A portable mic he held in his hand, And "Holidays In The Sun" issued forth from the band To be followed by "Anarchy In The UK", "God Save The Queen","EMI", and "My Way" They played so loud, the records fell from my shelf, And I gasped when I saw them in spite of myself A wink from his eye and dope for my head, Sid let me know I should pogo instead He handed me tickets and whispered "Ramones", Snorted some coke and yelled "Fuck All Discos!" He jumped to the stand, Saint Vicious with a shout, The band jammed on until poor Sid passed out But I heard him exclaim with the last of his might, SCORCHING PUNK ROCK TO ALL, AND TO AN AWFUL GOOD NIGHT! - Thu, 23 Dec 2004 2:13am

Ty Stranglehold User Info... | A long time ago, my Mom saw a book about Sid at a garage sale and picked it up for me. As I was flipping through it, a piece of paper fell out and this poem was typwritten on it. It's so great, I post it everywhere at X-mas time. HAPPY HOLIDAYS, SEE YOU NEXT WEEK! - Thu, 23 Dec 2004 10:48am

Jesse The Malcontent User Info... | The best bio of Sid would definitly be 'El Sid', I'm not much of a fanboy as to read up much on "pop icons" - but it's a great read. Almost as good as 'Cash' by Johnny Cash. - Thu, 23 Dec 2004 6:27pm
