Anon386 These three

KPLU 88.5
Zone 91.3
End 107.7

University radio is way to flaky and makes too much of a point of avoiding popular music or so called mainstream. I hate that any of my tax dollars supports them or the other communist stations. KPLU is way better since it takes donations from those who can afford to pay and want to support it. Way better system. - Wed, 18 Dec 2002 6:49pm
jason communist stations???

I love it when people use words they don't understand. - Wed, 18 Dec 2002 7:08pm
Trailer Park Boy Julian Citr - with shows like "Flex Your Head", "Caught in the Red", and the torrid trash rock show, amongst all the other great speciality shows (country, punk, rap, rockabilly, metal, surf etc) they have, my ears are in heaven.... - Wed, 18 Dec 2002 7:21pm
Anon386 Communism used as slang meaning their horrible and radical drive to support so called underground or revolutionary music using resources from the state. I am pretty sure there are no radio stations remotely connected to any Marxist-Leninist movements. - Wed, 18 Dec 2002 7:44pm
Anonymous I like jet engine falling. The artlet is pretty good too - Wed, 18 Dec 2002 8:53pm
Anonymous hey crtc regulations for university radios dont allow them to play mainstream stuff, they are meant to cater to the other demographic - Thu, 19 Dec 2002 12:53am
Manimal Radio: Loveline

Mixed tapes: Jingle cats - Thu, 19 Dec 2002 1:37am
Anon386 Is this true..about the crtc controlling programming? I guess the hot sweaty snatches will have to leave their charts charts charts. - Thu, 19 Dec 2002 2:20am

Don't forget that The Area Of Refuge has been playing all your punk needs on CFUV for the last seven years.
Every second Thursday night, 10:30-12:30 - Thu, 19 Dec 2002 3:52am
J CFUV is great. Skankaster's paradise, Area of refuge, Hillbilly heaven, The Fish Show, etc, etc. But when I get impatiant or confused when I realize I've been listening to an hour of chinese spoken word; I listen To Art Bell. It comes on at midnight or so on the worst station in Vic: CFAX 1070 AM, but Art Bell is the coolest late night talk show ever. All insomniac nuts and conspiracy theorists. Big foot, UFOs, time travellers, excorsism. Though I've lost a lot of sleep listening to that junk, it was well worth it. - Thu, 19 Dec 2002 4:04am

Jet Engine Falling is great! CFUV is inconsistent, but when it's good it's really the only option for radio in Victoria. Head Full of Flames is also nice. And if you like french music, I do a french show: Participe Prsent... tuesdays 8:30pm. - Thu, 19 Dec 2002 2:29pm
Anon386 CFUV does a good job of enabling a listener to hear many different styles in a passive mode ( i.e. not changing the dial or roaming around the net) but it is awful for keeping any kind of mood and exclusive of so called 'mainstream' styles. You almost need a certain degree of shitiness in your music to have it played on CFUV. By shitiness I mean some agressive statement motivating the art including artists angry towards commercial radio. This is whining at its worst. - Thu, 19 Dec 2002 2:36pm
J Best of all there's no lame commercials, or abnoxious, intrusive DJs. AND NOW THE ZONES BAND OF THE MONTH! MONTH!!
MONTH!!! - Thu, 19 Dec 2002 2:45pm
Brand X Hugo Well, the commercial stations support some local musicians, usually via some sort of compilation or "battle of the bands" sort of deal once or twice a year. CFUV on the other hand supports all local musicians, and often times the DJs play a role in Victoria's music scene, as promoters, sponsors, and many of them are musicians themselves. Also, their volunteers; hence they are not payed to be on the air, they're there for the simple fact that they like music. Commercial radio makes me feel sick. - Thu, 19 Dec 2002 2:49pm
AnonPentium4 AnonPentium4 - The Zone format does suck. So did the Q's in their heyday. Why cant these radio stations emulate the cool rock stations like 99.3 or 99.9? I know ALOT of people in this city ( Hey Al Ford, I even know who spray painted 99.9 on the old Q sign years ago buddy.. ) And ALL of the people I know will always tune in either KISW, The End or if those are rough , The Fox.

Anyhow, Im sure they could keep their present format, and wouldnt even offend the elitist Zone listeners if they started implementing a little more hard rock or metal into the format. I mean, KISW is one of THE MOST popular radio stations in the USA. And they play Sabbath, Priest, Maiden, Korn, Slayer, Zeppelin, The Doors, Jethro Tull, Metallica, Megadeth, Mudvayne, Slipknot, SOAD, ( and not always Chop Pooey either ) ACDC, Pink FLoyd, etc.

Why cant the Zone play some of this stuff? Surely they wont lose any listeners ( to who.. KISW or The Fox, The End? there are no other hardrock stations to compete against here other then those..) and they will actually GAIN listeners as local yokels start to realize they dont have to endure 8 hours of fuzzy KISW at work! - - Thu, 19 Dec 2002 2:54pm
Shilo Does anyone know who any of the up and coming BAnd Of The Month radio stars are going to be in the NEw Year? Is their a secret list somewhere or do they sort of decide as they go? - Thu, 19 Dec 2002 3:00pm
Anon386 I think the Zone picks band of the months as they go. AnonPentium4 you need a new antenae so you can get those american broadcasts. Don't some come in on cable? - Thu, 19 Dec 2002 3:29pm

Hey has anyone checked out the Extreme 107.3 lately? It's all 80's hits with no DJ's at all. I'm not even sure there are commercials on there anymore. It's actually better than it used to be, way better. Except for fatty getting canned of course. Yeah. - Fri, 20 Dec 2002 9:04am
