No it's not really for alcoholics...but we welcome them just the same. :)

I know you're all sick of these messages but....

The next FCC All Ages Committee meeting is this Monday - October 4th at 5:30 pm, 1240 Gladstone Ave. Info: 381-1552

Unfortunately I can't make this meeting, so it will be chaired by the first one to arrive :) There will be a FCC staff member on site to provide feedback on upcoming dates, answer questions etc. Also coffee/tea if you want to make it. This is a great opportunity for committee members and newbies to take charge and get things happening! So come out and get involved!

Discussion for this meeting should include Mr. Fancy's upcoming Oitoberfest on the 16th. Reliable volunteers will be needed for additional security, clean-up etc. Also we have a November date set for the 6th...but December's wide open.

So come, meet and enjoy, but someone please leave me some notes or email me with any updates.

Cheers,

There desperately needs to be more notice before these meetings! We showed up to the one two weeks ago & noone from the center was there, so come 6:30, we made for home, not having satisfied or lust for organization. - Tue, 5 Oct 2004 8:19pm

yes please more notice needs to be given other than two days before. Perhaps moving to another evening other than monday might be a better idea. That way everyone can come to the meeting. - Tue, 5 Oct 2004 8:32pm

Had a change of heart and decided to edit my previous cantankerous rant (as therapeutic as it was). :)

Let it just be known that these meetings are on hold for the time being. FCC wants to initiate a meeting with Matt Smith of SeyLynn/C*ling to help us get this committee off the ground. *Why reinvent the wheel, when other commitees just like this are already alive and flourishing* At this meeting with Matt the group will set a more concrete mandate and terms of reference for the committee, and try to set a regular meeting schedule that suits all.

FCC as an organization really wants this committee idea to fly, and is willing to provide meeting space, gig space, photocopying of gig posters and staffing for events. All monies from the door (minus 10% for the committee's kitty, and any extraordinary expenses) will go to pay the bands. So this is a pretty sweet deal.

Can anyone interested in coming to this initial meeting with Matt please email me their best days/times. As Matt is coming from Van he will need some advance notice.

Unfortunately I can no longer be involved in evening meetings at this point, but FCC is in the process of hiring some youth staff, who can hopefully be fully involved with this project.

Cheers,
S.V.

p.s. Previous gig dates set by the committee can still happen. Just connect with me to clarify any outstanding details. - Wed, 6 Oct 2004 3:05pm
