The Wolf User Info... | From the looks of the poster holders around town, you would thing Hush had 1/3 of the live acts in town. - Sun, 26 Sep 2004 8:04pm

jay brown User Info... | really it is just a business thing. If they can afford to poster that much then thats what they will do, it's pretty simple. I know it sucks if your trying to promote an event yourself, but hey even if they arent the ones covering up your poster ten minutes later another club will. - Sun, 26 Sep 2004 9:08pm
LivevicScott User Info... | Except every one else is just putting one poster per event per poll now even though everyone was affording to put up 3 just a year ago. I realize its just business and they can do it. I just know that whenever i'm putting up posters I always cover theirs first. - Mon, 27 Sep 2004 9:29am

Metropol Steve User Info... | Hush's overpostering is the largest problem we face at Metropol. We have met with them on several occasions, have tried to reach numerous compromises and I have personally brought forward the issue on ravevictoria.com (big mistake). There seems to be some strange general feeling that if their event involve a turntable, they are entitled to more space than anybody else. The bottom line is that they simply do not care. Jack Weeks (Hush's owner) claims they will never reduce their postering to one a pole. They are the only club in town that continues to poster this way and it's been seriously messing with our system for the last two years. Interestingly enought, they seem to have no problem using the larger poster cylinders that we designed and lobbied the City to install and they actually use them to put up more of the same posters - not at all what they were intended for. Here's a point of interest - Metropol puts up posters for more Hush events than they do. About 90% of the promoters that work out of the bar hire us to do their postering. This pisses off the bar so much that they cover posters for independently-promoted events in their own bar on the night of the events. (Once again, I brought this up on ravevictoria.com and was promptly told to fuck off). The problem exists only with the posters that the bar puts up for their house-promoted events and although they only have a few a month, they destroy all of us out there whenever they pick up a roll of tape. The solution? We have looked seriously at a poster licensing system (the City's suggestion) but this would more or less ruin it for everyone else. So... When you see a pole like the pictures above, call Metropol at 384-POLE and we'll go out and fix it. Please don't rip down or cover all the Hush posters because many Hush promoters are playing fair (Innergroove, Shortfuse, Ground Level, Mother's Cupboard, Breakbeat Island and Chewy Entertainment). Even though the bar they work out of is unreasonable, they have as much right to that space as all of us. Steve P.S. Hey Jay Brown. Is that really the case? We handle the postering for these "other clubs" and we put a tremendous amount of effort into leaving other posters up. If you want us to keep an eye out for something, send me an email. This goes for everybody. We play fair. - Wed, 29 Sep 2004 8:30pm
The Wolf User Info... | The poster pole's have been looking good lately..Other than these Hush posters...I use them for band info when downtown and having Hush with three lame posters really covers up alot of info...especially when this sight had server problems - Wed, 29 Sep 2004 10:15pm
Brand X Media User Info... | Pretty lame stuff. Those photos really don't do justice in comparison to what I've seen in the past. I know it's sort of an inane issue unless you're a band, promoter or venue and yes sometimes just a fan of music (All music electric and authentic). Hush is a pain in the ass and their tactics lead to nothing but eye sores and leg work for everybody else. When I poster I hold no regard for anything with the hush logo on it. It's the first to get covered. Really the issue isn't live music against electronic music - it's the lack of professionalism and complete disregard that HUSH displays. for that reason I have nothing but contempt for the venue as a whole, and discourage anybody to support such a trite and childish business. - Thu, 30 Sep 2004 12:38am
