problem: my forearms seize up after about 30 minutes. it drives me fuckin crazy! my practice space is in my garage and it's pretty cold, so I wear a good jacket. but shit, my arms do seize up. any suggestions?? thanks guys...

Adrenaline Animal If your not doing it already, strech before you play, and play with your whole body, what I mean by that is when hitting the drum use your whole arm not just your wrist, and try to stay loose and relaxed - Sat, 14 Dec 2002 3:57pm
RSBF i always have to pipe up about stuff like this........ minerals baby, you need a good balance of calcium, magnesium, and sodium - and if you're not properly hydrated, any type of physical activity can result in the tightening of muscles and cramping - and by hydration, i don't mean drinkin' a couple glasses of water before your gig. email me for deats at [email protected] - Sat, 14 Dec 2002 6:40pm
Anonymous always stretch before you play, it helps a lot. The comment about using your whole arm is a good one it'll stop you from getting carpal tunnel syndrome, or tendonitus as well. Every drummer freezes up sometimes it's just the nature of the beast. If it's happening all the time try tiger balm I found that helped a lot for me. Really the only answer is practicing so much that it just becomes second nature for your muscles. Other than that, I found smoking really heavily and drinking like a fish really worked for me. - Sat, 14 Dec 2002 7:44pm
