So their album is good, but they stunk it up on stage, where it matters.

What are the bands you've actually seen (not just heard about from a friend of a friend of a...) that put on the fuckin' show of a life time? eh? - Thu, 12 Dec 2002 12:37am

lily_liquor once again NOMEANSfreekinNO.end. - Thu, 12 Dec 2002 1:57am
brad S.N.F.U. at the Commodore , during the wrong turn down memory lane tour '91. So much energy and stage props....blew me away, definately the best i've ever witnessed. - Thu, 12 Dec 2002 2:07am
Milton Finger eleven ? Best live band? I saw them live and they weren't anything special - Thu, 12 Dec 2002 2:24am
Adrenaline Animal The Smugglers, back in 97 at the Limit, probably my favorite band to watch live, don't care too much for the cd though. - Thu, 12 Dec 2002 2:24am
Manimal Tankhog. pound for pound while it lasted - Thu, 12 Dec 2002 2:31am
Nathan Honestly I do not really like many live Canadian bands. Something seems to lack. I do like Moneen though. Excellent stage presence and the music is kickass. - Thu, 12 Dec 2002 2:43am
Anon386 Canadian.. dumb ass nationalists. Like there is a problem with canadian live performances in general. Sure some are lame but proportionate to any other so defined country there are some who really do things well. Whether a fan or not the Barenaked Ladies are very capable and entertaining live. Rush always put on elaborate concerts.. and Triumph. Most local bands severly suck in this department with most musician types turning up their noses to this behaviour. Live poor then. - Thu, 12 Dec 2002 4:29am
james i'd have to say that my favorite band is yeknob, they can rip it up and suck and still put on a wildly wicked show, i hope to see more of them in the future. - Thu, 12 Dec 2002 5:39am
greg138 i really enjoy the 'banned' they have a good sound and their singer really knows how to make people listen and they know what punk is all about - Thu, 12 Dec 2002 5:41am

Elliot I agree with Nathan, Moneen is the best Canadian band I've seen, hands down. Not only do they do the spastic freak out thing on stage, but they manage to play perfectly while doing it. - Thu, 12 Dec 2002 4:14pm

I saw Tankhog in Vancouver once. They were throwning meat out into the crowd. It was really funny to see a pig's head being passed around crowd surfer style. - Thu, 12 Dec 2002 7:19pm
Manimal sweet. I saw tankhog in high river in 92 and in Vic about 3 yrs later at buckley's. In high river they had the crowd goin best out of the 100 bands there. except maybe for Tad. the vic show sucked bad... they played to no one and split after a quick set. - Thu, 12 Dec 2002 10:52pm

I'd have to say Choke is the best live band I've ever seen. The fact the they can pull of the kind of music they play without it even looking difficult and still giving the kind of energy they do blows me away.

Moneen is very close second.

I saw the weakerthans the other day and they are definatley up there too. One of the finest shows I've ever seen. Many times better than the album, which I really enjoy. - Fri, 13 Dec 2002 12:15am

Yes they did play an all ages show at Legends. Breach of Trust was awesome, F11 have had better shows. The best of the three F11 shows I've seen was when they opened for I Mother Earth at Vertigo. IME suck without Edwin. As for the only show I've ever been to, ya Ok.. so's your face. Thorazine's a wicked live band as well. - Fri, 13 Dec 2002 7:17pm

For fun energy: Satanic Surfers w. Belvedere, DGB, and Moneyshot.
Best live band in Canada: Rush? no. the best live show i've seen is Roy Hargrove at Jazz fest. Go ahead, metal fans. knock jazz to your hearts content. Just remember that between metal musicians vs. jazz musicians, jazz will always have the talent. - Fri, 13 Dec 2002 7:53pm
