Metropol Steve User Info... | I went to that program, as did Bill from Metropol. It's a good program for giving you the basics on a wide variety of media. You get a shot at photography, video, audio, graphic design and web design. There's a questionable co-op element, but in the last semester you can decide which area to specialize in and do a lot of self-directed learning. It's a good program if you have an interest in media arts (the hands on aspect) and are not sure which area you want to end up in. The have some good equipment at your disposal and labs that you can get access to 24 hrs a day. I got most of my education at 3 o'clock in the morning doing things I was totally unqualified to do. You get air time on the radio station (Village 900) and they have a fully functioning TV studio up there. I would recommend giving Lois (the program co-ordinator) a call and ask her to give you an overview. In my opinion - worth it. I made a ton of contacts in the industry during my three years in that program. - Sat, 24 Jul 2004 9:03pm
The One After Two User Info... | If a career in commercial media is your goal, then school is a very good idea. Like Steve said, its who you know, and you meet lots of people at school. Here is some great advise from Ian Camfield, radio star, What advice would you give someone who wants to do what you do? "If you really want to do it then the best piece of advice I can give you is that it's all about the people that you know. So find out who can give you a job in what you want to do and find out where they drink. 'Cause you can't beat drinking with the right people, it's as simple as that." - Sat, 24 Jul 2004 10:05pm
