Message Board > General Chitchat > Do you recycle sandwich baggie's ??? |
MC -K.N.Z. User Info... | Just wondering...Cuz I just thought that I hardly ever reuse them. And think may be this could be a wide spread thing. So do you reuse your sandwich bag's ? Or do they go right in the trash...? Is there a way to recycle/reuse these things.? Since they are use for "food", then they are dirty, and should go into landfill.I may be ignorant about the sorting proses at the local dump or recycle facility .Is there a way to separate all this plastic bags and baggie's ? I recycle all my plastic bags ,the baggie's usually get thrown out.I guess I could start throwing them in with the rest of the bags. But I see there is a big problem world wide with plastic bags....And see there are still lots of them floating around the streets. So that's why I asked because on a personal level I do my part to keep them from blowing away and recycle them.I just wish we all could do the same. - Tue, 6 Jul 2010 4:15pm Edited: Tue, 6 Jul 2010 4:16pm
Lucius User Info... | My wife is a borderline hippie so I don't throw anything out. Out trash consumption went from 2 full cans to 1/3 of one can now. They have the recycling program at different venues through out the city on Saturdays. You have to pay for it so basically only people who can afford to recycle all their crap (like styro, wrappers, chip bags etc..) can do it. PS: call Craig I saw him today and he was trying to get ahold of you Cheers, Lucius - Tue, 6 Jul 2010 7:28pm
Uncle Twodog User Info... | Reusing food baggies aint gonna save shit. Its not our responsibility. We are peons, serfs, we buy what they give us. The onus is on the government to force companies to use corn based plastic and what not. This is why legitimate protesters protest G20 meetings. ..............re-use your weed baggies though. - Tue, 6 Jul 2010 10:24pm
Trevcore User Info... | even better idea. dont use them in the first place. There are many re-usable options to plastic baggies. - Tue, 6 Jul 2010 10:27pm
Sue User Info... | I wash and re-use baggies unless they have had meat in them. Those, along with the odd grocery bag and all other plastics/styrofoam/batteries are then taken to the plastic recycling depots that move around. They only charge a nominal fee for the collection $2-$5 depending on what and how much you have. And yes, investing in some Ziploc type reusable containers is also a great idea. - Wed, 7 Jul 2010 7:04am
