moron User Info... | It SUCKS that the FCC is taking over for the FCA as far as live gigs are concerned. The FCC has the second worst sound of any venue in Victoria (the Pandora Projects being the worst). Any chance of maybe holding smal shows up stairs instead since the sound is so shitty in the main hall? Cheers - Tue, 18 May 2004 4:08pm
Nocturna User Info... | As far as I know the FCA will continue to hold the smaller shows (once in a while), but want us to take the larger ones in Fernwood due to issues with their neighbours (Belfry, George) regarding people spilling out into the street etc. FCC has been running shows again for the past 4+ years, so it makes no difference to us really. I agree the gym generally sounds horrible, however having a good stage etc. makes a huge difference. The recent Cancer show sounded awesome despite being in that echo-chamber. We are exploring ways we can improve the sound (panels etc). Unfortunately the largest upstairs room only has a capacity of 30, so that limits what you can do with it. As far as the committee, it's intention was that it be youth driven, and a means for youth to get involved with putting on their own shows. It's been off to a slow start, however we did put on a show with Mr. McDonald and the Cancer show (though we really just provided the hall and some staff for that). FCC is using some recreaion funding to support these events. Our hope is to provide a wide variety of music events... punk, ska, metal, industrial, reggae...whatever the youth want. We have a gig set for June 18th, which has yet to be organized. So we want to have another meeting asap. We would like to invite any and all interested parties (regardless of age) to get involved. We would appreciate the support of some of you vetrans. :) Our last couple of meetings were set for 5:30ish on week nights. We would like a decent attendance at our next meeting, so what time/day works best for everyone? We even thought about having ongoing discussions via the web, perhaps even here on Livevic?? **Thanks to H for showing up on Mon, sorry it didn't happen** So, if you are interested in getting involved with these ventures, please give Bertie or myself a call at 381-1552, drop by the centre at 1240 Gladstone, or drop me an email at [email protected] Cheers, S.V. - Wed, 19 May 2004 1:21am
