Cuz Logans Sucks. Go see metal at Lucky Bar at least they have a stage so you can see the bands without standing 5 feet from the PA.

Haha at least I could sneak into Logans when I was 18 thoough! - Mon, 12 Apr 2004 11:14am

We love doing metal shows, but we're mostly a bunch of indie rock geeks and we depend on real metal fans to approach us. No shit. If anyone has a show in mind, contact Chris and or Sarah at this address: [email protected]. You can also try [email protected] or call 360.1832 (email is definitely best, though). - Mon, 12 Apr 2004 12:21pm

Once I went to logan's a couple hours before they started taking cover and drank a bunch of their overpriced beer. when they started taking cover the owner told me it would be a "sold out" show and I had to pay cover or leave. after getting banged out of money like that i no longer grace the place with my presence. - Mon, 12 Apr 2004 6:57pm

Hey booger--

The person who asked you for cover was probably an outside promoter--if a guy brings a show into the bar he's counting on ticket sales to make his guarantee for the bands. I personally have NEVER asked for cover from someone who was in the bar before it started, and I'd be extremely surprised if my brother did.

As for the beer prices, I've heard this before and I'm genuinely mystified. Our microbrews aren't cheap, but they're certainly not more expensive than most other bars in town, and we haven't raised the prices in two years, despite the fact the breweries have all raised theirs. You can get a sleeve of beer for $3.50 every day and $2.50 on Mondays (along with bar shots). I'm not saying you don't sincerely believe we're expensive, I just don't know what we're being compared to.

As for the metal shows, I meant what I said. Some of the best shows I've seen at the bar have been metal, and I'm not even a big fan. - Mon, 12 Apr 2004 11:44pm

Ive put on a few Metal Shows there and it is still one of my favourite places to play. You dont have to worry about being ripped off, bands are treated well by the staff and Ive never had trouble working out a good night to put the show on with them. If you can convince them that you have a draw and will advertise responsibly then ITS ON BITCH!! - Tue, 13 Apr 2004 6:10am

Aside from the akward layout, this place rules. Lots of room on stage for drums/monitors, and good stage sound. Huge backroom to set your shit up, and warm up. In fact, every bar in Victoria that we've played at ruled with the exception of the Cambie. Them Logan's folk even let me trade in all my beer tickets way after last call and right before the bar was about to shut down for the night... *sob*...ahhh the memories - Tue, 13 Apr 2004 10:39am

it wasn't an outside promoter, it was the big fella that owns the place. The problem with logans is it needs more or better beer at the bottom of it's price list. something like molson or labatts is way better than that renieer (sp). maybe there is others, i don't know. if i knew i could actually get a better beer than renier for 3 bucks i'd be there all the time, considering they don't give me ultimatums which result in me paying money or fucking off, of course.. - Wed, 14 Apr 2004 10:55pm

Actually, what Logans REALLY needs is less cheap-ass whiny clientele to max out the ~75 person capacity before I get there... which they seem to be accomplishing, kudos Chris. WELL.... that and more metal shows... - Wed, 14 Apr 2004 11:21pm

The big fella who owns the place is my brother, and the point I was trying to make is that no one normally asks for cover from people already inside unless they're an outside promoter who's freaked about their guarantee; i.e. it doesn't happen very often. Sorry if it happened to you.

I'm still wondering why you find our beer prices expensive. Can you (or anyone else) tell me who we're being compared to? I'm not being belligerent; I'm honestly interested (in scoping the competition). - Wed, 14 Apr 2004 11:22pm
