ya..all those books are pretty good, not the best ever, but good. Fun to read. Try his other books with Dirk Gently, they're kinda goofy too.

Dirk Gently and the Holistic Detective Agency and Dirk Gently and the Long Dark Tea Time of The Soul. At least I think that's what they're called. - Thu, 11 Mar 2004 4:51am

I'm absolutely biased toward your point of view. All DNA books get better with multiple readings. His sense of humour and his intelligence become more apparent in much the same way that Monty Python sketches do.
I saw him live one time in Toronto, and you wouldn't believe the size of the guy.
Its his theory that ones' funniness is directly proportional to ones' height. "Therefore," he said in one interview "I'm at least 3 percent funnier than John Cleese"

Not a day goes by when I don't fall asleep to some of the audio books (of which there are countless versions).

If you haven't already, I suggest you read Last Chance to See; His only truly non-fiction book. Just as funny as HHG or Dirk Gently, but also reveals a person very interested in ecology and preservation.

Upon hearing of his demise, I'd have to say I was about as sad as any other death, including those in my own family.

I could go on all day about his work. - Thu, 11 Mar 2004 6:22am
