Jimi we have a new store to salivate in. I havent been there yet. So my question to the masses is this.. will the change entice L and M to start shipping in more variety of guitars or does the expansion just mean more PRS, Fender and Gibson? Because By golly I am jes' itchin' top buy me a new ESP, Jackson, Ibanez, or something like that which isnt their standard $800 plastic junk, but the nice ones, the $2000 style... my bet is they will still suck. - Tue, 3 Dec 2002 12:53pm
Anonymous Ahh yes, L&M, the rectum of the music store industry... - Tue, 3 Dec 2002 2:55pm
Anonymous and for us starving musicians without cars, the new location is pretty shitty to get to, seems dumb to move out of the downtown core, and if it' s an issue of rent, you can' t tell me L&M don' t make enough money to justify being there - Tue, 3 Dec 2002 3:01pm
Jesse If your looking for top of the line Jacksons, try Arbutus music in Nanaimo, He went way out of his way to get me my Jackson Kelly, And he let me take it no money down... Only one more year and its paid for. Also, If you are thinking about getting a Jackson, Go super high end, They feel fucking amazing. Best guitar I've ever had. - Tue, 3 Dec 2002 3:14pm

I heard the reason they moved was to get a bigger store and combine the 2 L&M's into one. Being that every other city had one big one rather then 2 small ones. Thus staying in the down town core would have been tough as finding a building of that size would be difficult. Probably not so much to do with rent. - Tue, 3 Dec 2002 4:13pm
Anonymous errr, what did you starving musicians do before they opened the downtown store? This one's only down the road from the quadra one. - Tue, 3 Dec 2002 5:58pm
Evil Brian Maybe you starving musicians should go out and get a job and quit your bands limestone and belt - Tue, 3 Dec 2002 7:03pm

hey come and check out the new store it looks great. We still will be carrying FENDER, GIBSON, PRS, GRETCH, GUILD, YAMAHA, SQUIER, EPIPHONE, IBANEZ, WARWICK, MUSIC MAN, MODULUS......... ect ect.. We will also have victoria best selection of JACKSON guitars as soon as their new owner starts shipping them. So hope you all can make it down. Ohh and if you dont have a car you can always take the bus, the 4,30, 31, 75, 61, 50 and many other buses all stop a block away . - Tue, 3 Dec 2002 11:59pm
Anonymous yaa why did you move way out there.haha sarcasim
so my calculation is you moved three blocks from your quadra store???
i never went all the way downtown to the other anyhow. - Wed, 4 Dec 2002 1:42am
Adam I only ever went to the quadra store anyways.. I didn't like the sleezebags at the front desk at the downtown one.

I hope that they have the mailing system sorted out better in the new store.. I have waited a long time for parts in the past. Apparently they have an area dedicated to shipping now.

I'll head down wednesday or thursday.. See yas there.. - Wed, 4 Dec 2002 3:55am
Anonymous thats great Mcfagfart, now all you got to do is replace all the monkeys you call staff with people that actually know what their talking about. You either get served by some old fuck who has been working there for way to long or some stupid ass kid who doesn't give a fuck. And then there's Ray... - Wed, 4 Dec 2002 10:10am
Guita Slinga Ray is cool. Fuck you guys complain about a store that will let you walk out with a $2000 guitar without an official credit check? Cmon.. dont demonize Toupee Ray just because you or your bum buddies cant afford to make a payment because you spent it all on crack ( ass crack that is )

As for why they get all the same brands of geetars all the time.. well I had a talk to one of them the other day and it all comes down to manufacturer's complications, not L and M's lack of interest. Still, Ill be shopping for my geetars in Vancouver or in Washington as L and M just doesnt have anything I want, except maybe a $3000 Les Paul which I dont want enough at the moment and probably not going to buy till Im at least 50 years old.

For now, their distinct lack of anything high end thats not a PRS, Fender or Gibson is enough to keep me from buying anything but strings and picks from em.

PS: L and M dude, your quality Ibanez guitars are all low to midrange. Barely worthy of mention. - Wed, 4 Dec 2002 10:51am
Ike If you guys are actually saying that all of the staff generally lack musical knowledge and a sense of customer care at Long and McQuade, then may I suggest you aren't really listening? Or maybe you just need to pull your heads out of your asses. Or maybe you just like to hate people/companies who are successful. You are right that there are a few people working there who cop attitude and don't really care, but the majority of the staff are quite good. Every question I have ever needed answered, has been answered at L&M. And every defective piece of gear I have purchased there has been replaced or refunded - no questions asked. There is a reason that the majority of Pro musicians go to L&M when they are on tour and need something. They are reliable and they do their best to ensure that you have what you need. - Wed, 4 Dec 2002 2:12pm
Geetar Slinga L and M staff are all pretty easy to deal with Ive always thought. I never shopped at the Fort store though. Anyhow, Wayne is a good shit, and it was really cool to see Graeme back on the floor in the new store.. even the newer staff from the old Quadra St. store are all knowledgable enough ( just ask Colin anything, the guy must eat and sleep musical gear. ) - Wed, 4 Dec 2002 2:28pm
horny school child i've had sex in long and mcquade. - Wed, 4 Dec 2002 6:26pm
jason "Ray is cool"

hey guitar slinger,

#1 - Shutup

#2 - Ray is about as cool as your handle. He's one of the most unprofessional assholes I've ever had to deal with. But hey, what do I know? I'm just a "low-end ibanez" player. - Wed, 4 Dec 2002 6:59pm
Geetar Slinga Hey Jason. Ever try to dal with a REAL collector of gear? Ray at least gives guys with no credit some credit, and even guys with BAD credit he will give credit. Try that anywhere else! Even Ward's music tried to go back on my 5 years of good credit with their store after their fire! They wouldnt rent to me because of bad credit, even though b4 Don and Drew left I could have walked out of there with anything. Stupid metalhead! Cut yer hair ! arharhar Painface kicked ass btw! - Wed, 4 Dec 2002 8:06pm
Geetar Slinga Abd i didnt mean COOL as in "hey lets invite this guy toour party!" I just meant cool as in he is negotiable. - Wed, 4 Dec 2002 8:09pm
jason hey, I might be acting like an asshole but thats's no reason to bring up old bands that one may or may not be so proud of!! Seriously though, I know what your saying. It is nice to go in and grab any peice of equipment I want to try out for a small deposit. And compared to other credit departments I've had to deal with Ray is flexible, but he has still acted in a very unprofessional manner with me and some of my "associates". - Thu, 5 Dec 2002 11:44am

I haven't been there yet, what's the drum department like now? Any higher end drums??? I hope they'll get in some Premier, Ayotte, DW,Mapex etc. It get's kind of lame seeing nothing but Pearl and Tama in there.(not that there's anything wrong with those...um ya) - Fri, 6 Dec 2002 12:48am
drummer I just hope the help in the drum department gets smarter or faster. I order stick wrap specialy and they put it out on the rack and sell it. I put my names down for drum order, they loose it. I come in to get some help with drum skins and they take 30 minutes to find them. Slooowwwwwwwwww - Tue, 10 Dec 2002 1:37pm

BELT is hardly starving - they have nice full bellies ; ) (with all due respect my babies) - Tue, 10 Dec 2002 7:35pm
Sparkles acually, I found the new store quite fucking nice, although it's true as far as electric guitar selection there's like 3 ibenez, 1 b.c. rich and a shitload of fender and gibson. Not much for variety - Tue, 10 Dec 2002 7:50pm
