Hey this "Slayer" band is ripping me off!

They stole that riff from ME!

I, like made it up last summer, and then posted it at tabworld as "a_cool_metal_riff_yo.txt", and sat back a waited for the invites to play with the local metal bands.

Don't listen to this album, they just rip off a bunch of riffs from other songs.

Im gonna have to check this "Slayer" band out. The name of their album is Reign In Blood?? Did anyone else notice that it is like another way of saying "Raining Blood" ? This sounds swell.

Hey Hero Of The Day, not everyone is a metal knowledge god like yourself. How are we all supposed to know about this band called "Slayer" are they famous or sumthin? - Fri, 5 Dec 2003 10:16am

Well call me a boring old fart but "Angel of Death" put me in the mood to intensly dislike this band and IMO this is one of the most overrated records (and bands) in history and at about 28 minutes long it's a ripoff to boot. The best thing about this record for me was that Public Enemy sampled it for "She Watch Channel Zero". On of those strange scenarios where the message is so repugnant as to render whatever worth the music itself might have worthless. Sorry guys. - Mon, 8 Dec 2003 11:46am

Jesus old man punk...still playing shows that get shut down by cops at age 40 and yer whining about a 28 min. thrash record? How many thrash records do you have at over 90 minutes? I mean, Land Speed record was only 25 so what's yer point? There's "rip-off" and then there's "best example of" or most true to the genre" right? That vinyl is a classic whether you like it or not. Methiks yer just trying to whip that kiddie-Korn fellah into a lather again.... - Mon, 8 Dec 2003 8:13pm

I'm reading Zipp's rant and I'm confused how "Angel Of Death", could cause anyone to dislike anything. I'm guessing that he feels that it's a song that glorifies the holocaust . Too bad, I've known Zip for a number of years but I obviously over-estimated his ability to "read between the lines". Perhaps all the time spent with Galuza is finally taking it's toll.... - Mon, 8 Dec 2003 11:49pm

Well, I couldn't say that I was ready to completely write imn off at this point...(!) I 'spose on the facts yeah; Slayer was just re-hashing the same ol' done to death by inumerable other acts but damn....they did just fine.
I think graphic representation to be a rather effective tool for grabbing ones attention and forcing an "issue' TO BE DEALT WITH HEAD-ON (mENGELE, horrible atrocity...satan, etc.) Sorry hit the caplock but am to lazy to fix it.

Hmmm hardly a rant. I was simply expressing my opinion that this record was not the religious experience that many of you think it is. So that makes me a jerk? Part of the reason I'm so sick of it was that it got played everywhere I went when it first came out and, frankly, I'm sick of it. And, again IMO, I don't think Slayer have made a record as good since. - Tue, 9 Dec 2003 12:41pm

I actually really enjoyed Diabolus in Musica. Not too sure about God Hates us All but from what I've heard it isn't that great. Reign in Blood is, of course, a classic. - Tue, 9 Dec 2003 2:15pm

What the hell is wrong with this thread?!? I don't mean content of thread, I meant the format. God hates us all came out the day of the 9/11 attacks, so at the time, it was an AWESOME CD, good to take a vent out with. Seasons in the Abyss is another fabulous CD, and well, Reign in Blood is a classic. - Tue, 9 Dec 2003 2:16pm

Zippy's right methinks...That album was sorta the water mark for that band, didn't care much for their later works. SO many decent "metal" albums get played into the frickin' ground by obsessive fans...hard to enjoy when you just become so sick of hearing it EVERYWHERE. At that point, you start doing things like playing yer 45's at 33 just to find something fresh. - Tue, 9 Dec 2003 2:36pm

Reign in Blood is a huge influence for a lot of bands, I always classify Slayer as like a Metal Symphony, the sonics are amazing. Then again, I always think Slayer is really a punk band, cause that was what they were influenced by.

I'm going to have to agree with both Mr.B ay and SOS Jesse. Divine Intervention is Reing in Blood on massive amounts of coke and speed. Songwriting is better too. And I don't understand why everyone criticizes Diabolus. I thought it was a rad album aside from "Stain of Mind".

when i first heard Reign in Blood, i couldn't believe the power/agression and speed. I loved it the instant i heard it. they are the only metal band i can say i bought albums for, being way more into hardcore and punk, and definately NOT a metal fan. to me those few albums Reign, south, and yes seasons, are some of my fav's even to this day. i read somewhere that Agnostic Front toured with Slayer at one point, now that...i would have loved to seen. - Tue, 9 Dec 2003 9:28pm

I have the Combat Tour on video still. Venom and Slayer interviews. Venom vids. Live Slayer and Exodus "this song aint about no goldfish and it aint about no tunafish, and it aint about no trout. This song is called Pirahna!" "This song is about killin posers" LOL and from the slayer live stuff "I heard you have learned the words to our new album. You have waited this long, Hell no longer Awaits!" - Wed, 10 Dec 2003 6:15pm
