Its purely slumlord bullshit.. they want the liquor licence to run from 9am-2am.. which means the return of the junkies rubbies and thieves that would inhabit the place during those hours. Also means that nothing on the stage would be safe during those hours. if anything the Cobalt as a nightclub for the underground scene has cleaned up that area because its people with money and jobs who come and watch the bands for the most part. - Sat, 26 Sep 2009 12:30pm | ||
| Sati User Info... | Thanks TC. I haven't spoken with Wendy or anyone there much about it. Was even there the night she got the news last month, but was feeling low and avoiding everyone - just burned in late with my head hanging down to see gross mis play last & ran out when they were done. You can do that there because they all understand. Found out the next day. Been feeling a little bad because they've been all exhausted & emotional and I haven't been at all. They've had to face it every day and I've just had a really good, chill time each time since, and even last night seeing everyone outside. I've been telling everyone who's asked that I just don't accept that its really happening and that we'll all be back there. But last night I saw Wendy pulling herself together & dealing with some shit that looked potentially scary, and it hit me how tired she must really be. Then I talked with her and then john later about tearing down and it got to me. I got to see all these bands and tendonitis last week with no stress & no tears, just more killer nights because of all of them taking care of things. | denny User Info... | I did not go to The Cobalt in its dying days. I simply couldn't bear seeing my favourite bar like that. I wanted to keep my last fleeting memory of crowd surfing on a Dayglo mosh pit, or seeing Uptown Riot play on the other side of the bar, or Cum-Soc puking on anyone that stood in their way.
