| Yesser User Info... |  When Grimlord emailed me a year ago or so through Craigslist he used his personal email. I couldn't believe that some strangers will anonymously send threats through CL. Whatever who cares, losers. Then he emails me again through another post. Big talk. Creepy talk. Through boredom I used that email and did a quick google search. His email came to a Facebook profile in Vancouver names Graeme Mckenzie. I added him to my friends to see who this creep was, he accepted, fool. I decided then to reply to his emails by telling him to F*** OFF and that I knew who he was. He replied with a large iliterate rant about how he will rid the online world of me and blah blah blah. That I didn't know who he was. This is HIS game. He will not be responsible about his actions. Whatever. By surfing his FB and clicking on all of his friends it was very easy for me to figure out places he hangs out. Logans for one. September 9th ring a bell? Turns out this clown LOVES hanging out at Livevictoria.com. Go ahead and google his name, email adress or anything, it will all come to this website. I chose to go out one night with a friend to Logans and low and behold......it was Grimlord. He was right in front of me.HAMMERED. Twitching. He is mostly ape like. His chin is a definite reflection of his Fetal Alchohol Syndrome issues. That is how this nonsense spoiled into this messageboard. And That's how I know he smells. Grimlord. Before you decide to email strangers with idle threats. Use a phantom email adress that doesn't tie you to your own FB profile. I could imagine the hours he has spent trying to figure out which friend I was on FaceBook. Hilarious. It took me a lot of will power to not post his FB page earlier. It was the only thing I had to get information on him. I couldn't have him figure it out. Then he deleted his profile the SAME day I posted the info with a pic NEVER posted here. It's incredible how easy it is to defend oneself on the internet from the Neanderthrals that are Grimlord. Because he deleted his facebook page, took his photo off of his online accounts, and removed his info I will consider this a lesson learned. I think that is what is called being "Owned". Graeme Mckenzie you are one hell of a loser. Time to keep your drunken fingers off of the keyboard late at nights. You never know who you will send an email too. User Info... | Chopper..I contacted the various govt. electronic privacy sources you suggested and Shaw Cable Security last time this came up and was informed that what happened was NOT outside of our means and that nobody would or could be charged. As you can see, IP posting is rampant on international sites such as Craigslist as well as on other major forums. Shaw Security flat out said that if a person posts anywhere, they run the risk of their IP being seen and made public and thats just the way it is. You create drama and moan about nothing.. You strike me as being a classic case of conspiracy theorist. Why would anyone want to cross reference your IP? are you Yesser? Are you sending threatening emails to people and suggesting you will come to their house and cause problems? Dont flatter yourself, you are not worth 'cross referencing' Who is going to come here and 'charge' Livevictoria? The VPD? The RCMP? Interpol? Is Yesser going to go hire a lawyer now? And craigslist servers aren't hosted in Canada smart guy, so they don't fall under Canadian or BC laws/acts. This site is hosted in Canada, and more than likely hosted/co-located here in BC. You can answer your own question regarding legal action dependent on which province the server is hosted in. So either federal or provincial, not local. And I'd rather be paranoid than end up waking up some morning to some livevic mouthbreather taking stupid shit seriously and go all script kiddie and attack my network, not that it'd do a lot of good, but nonetheless harassment. And what you posted about people taking the chance of their IP being seen here. Bullshit. The only way an end user of this board will ever see theirs or anyone elses IP is if they're a mod, which you are. Peoples IP addy's are not readily available, to anyone below mod, on this site. Although from talking to the admins there seems to have been a small oversight on that. | The Professor User Info... | I've actually taken some legal counsel on this issue now and this is what I leaned, which confirms what I'd said before on the issue: IP addresses themselves are not personally identifying information. Not in law, or in reality. They are a number that tells nothing of a person. Only an ISP has the power to get real information (name, adress) from an IP address, and for that they require a police warrant. They hold the real power. However, as shown here knowing an IP can be used for some amateur sleuthing and can be cross-referenced as was done here. While not technically illegal, and perhaps well-meaning, what Mike did was,in our view, inappropriate use of moderator privileges. Specifically the posting of the IP from Yesser's post on the forum, and pointing out cross-references on the Internet, was inapropriate. This came up before, and I told Mike that it was inappropriate. At that point, for a number of reasons (many unrelated), he resigned as moderator. He agreed to stay on to help moderate while we transitioned into another moderator. In the hectic-ness that is my life I forgot about the whole thing, and he has remained a moderator ever since. Now that this same issue reared it's ugly head again it has reminded me that we never wrapped that one up. As of this morning we've completed the resignation and removed his moderator privileges. Thank you again Mike, for the many years of unpaid effort that you put in on this forum, especially work work to keep the Seeking Musicians section a comfortable place for people to post without fear of harassment. I really appreciate all you've done. We are actually just polishing off some general guidelines and Terms of use for the Forum and the sites in general as well as our privacy policy. Its obvious that Mike has contributed in a big way to these boards, and as I understand, he believed he was doing the right thing in tracking down and exposing someone he saw as harassing our users. This means that we're forced to treat even the most annoying of you with the same degree of respect re your privacy! But its cool to have a difference in opinion on such things, and from what I've heard Mike really did resign of his own volition (and unless I'm wrong, not particularly over this issue) and was not forced or encouraged in any way to give up his mod status. No mother fucker is going to threaten my friends however indirectly, in such a way, when they are soo far seperated from this BS. At that point I did what I did, and Ill stand behind that till the end. Chopper isnt annoying, nobody on this site is, its all tongue in cheek for the most part, but Yesser has some serious issues and is stalking other people on other sites. He twists it around in his way, and makes it look like Grim is the bad guy, but Ive read the emails, and Ive followed it closer than anyone else aside from some of other friends who also know the inside scoop. We all know that Grim isnt the most intellectual guy on this site, so its not exactly hard to type circles around his head and get him into a frenzy ( sorry grim.. truth hurts pal ) All this because of a case of mistaken identity regarding another hotmail address of another guy that lives in Victoria whose info is a close match to Grim's, and who incidently Grim has conversed with on the phone about the issue, since. When I clicked on LiveVictoria, Grimlord who openly used his real name and adress was talking shit to people and I completely let myself believe that Grimlord HAD to be the same person that emailed me. Grimlord of course got mad and sent me PISSED off emails like anyone would, and I retaliated by biting back, because I believed he was the creepy guy from CL. I then replied to his grimlord_66@hotmail adress and from then on I was an ass. I really thought this was the guy. Graeme had a public profile on Facebook with ALL his information. That is where I got ALL my information from. His birthday, his lay off, his education and everything else. Because Graeme has not kept anything of his life off of the internet googling his email or number brings up oodles. I truly thought Graeme was a creep loser who was trolling out people online. Then of course things got so heated back and forth that no truth would be exposed. Until Now. When I read through that old liv vic thread it is obvious that the Real Graeme Mckenzie is innocent of any trolling accussations I have made. Up until now I really thought it was him.
