the myspace design is annoying. the song Parumps sounds like Caribou meets Boards of Canada. pretty cool, actually, although I'm not sure that all the different aspects mix well. koffers was pretty boring but I was into the chord progression. this was all better than I expected. I hope you do more vocals, I like the way they come across in Parumps. what exactly did you do to achieve that effect? it sounds like you're pretty great at working with the tools you have but you need to pare everything down to something more coherent, something that seems less put-together-at-random. if you complete an album, you should send a copy to CFUV at uvic, I know a bunch of us would be into playing this sort of thing on the radio. - Tue, 26 Aug 2008 1:23am

Edit.. : another New Song today..

'nother new song up.. http://www.myspace.com/thecloudsbelow

Tyler, thanks so much for the critiques, questions and comments. Caribou Ive listened lots too, boards not at all (which is weird, i guess i just never got around to them) nothin crazy on the vocals.... multi-tracked, panned out L/R.. lots of reveb and a bit of delayed on a couple tracks. eq'd and compressed. If i ever do get something more coherent/planned put down I'll be sure to send you a copy at cfuv..again thanks for the great post, couldnt ask for better.

I think it's very well done. Not the kind of music I'm normally into, but I can appreciate what you're trying to do. The one thing I would suggest, is scaling the vocals back in the mix just a little. I understand that the point is for them to be up front and dominant like that, it's just a little too much in my opinion. Something to play around with at any rate.

P.S. As I've beem sitting here writing this, I find my self listening to the next track (without you I think) and FUCKING LOVING IT!!!! Thought that there were a couple of places where the voca;s were a little out, but that's an easy fix. Great work. - Fri, 17 Oct 2008 8:25pm

I went back and listened to the rest of your tracks. After doing so, I take back what I said about not being into this type of music. I love it! I added your page to my bookmarks. Are you planning on releasing any of this commercially or playing live at all? That's something that I would definately be interested in.

Cool man thanks..yeah id agree the vocals are quite loud and out o tune on a couple tracks and in a few places in paticular.. the volume levels are probably high because i tend to mix my voice way to low (cause im shy) and then you cant hear me.. so i made a consciense to raise them, which was over done a bit..

Thanks alot for the positive comments. I would like to start playing live again and if you, or you know someone who would like to contribute to a band.. let me know.
thanks again and keep checking the site for new songs.. http://www.myspace.com/thecloudsbelow - Sun, 19 Oct 2008 8:55am

Hmmmm...it's all boring as hell to me. I mean...if you played this stuff at the Fort Cafe some weekend, the place would be packed with fashionable 20 somethings nodding their heads...but I don't get it. To me the stuff goes nowhere...it provokes no emotion except boredom. The most energetic song...whatever the 32nd was, has a terrible guitar tone, and still goes nowhere. Put together a band, and you'll probably do relly well in this town. - Thu, 20 Nov 2008 7:26pm

Thanks T.Dep and Mica.

I would agree with almost everything you said T.Dep. except maybe the part about filling 'the fort' for a show.

I dont know which is the '32nd' either?.. but either way I appreciate the comments and do intend to up the energy and develop stronger more dynamic songs.

Maybe i should see if i can get a slot opening at the fort. http://www.myspace.com/thecloudsbelow - Sat, 22 Nov 2008 5:22pm Edited: Sat, 22 Nov 2008 8:16pm
