Look.

This is simple.

If you fucksticks can't figure it out I'm gonna figure it out for you.

This goes out to you fuckwads hucking bottles and computer monitors off the balcony, playing with your doors open and having parties till 2am outside:
- Grow the fuck up or get the fuck out.

Seriously.

If I see any of this shit going on I'll personally come in your spot and unplug your shit for you since you have no fucking clue.

To anyone else that thinks the jamspots are a regualr party place... go get fucked somewhere else.

This isn't a plea. This is a warning.

Now fuck off and go act like a 16 year old somewhere else. - Thu, 17 Jul 2008 4:05pm

I agree.. another letter singling out every room has been taped to the doors threatening to boot every band out if this doesnt stop.

SHUT. YOUR. DOOR.

Not to mention, this 'rumour?' about Rick May trying to move in there and turn the building into another Alpha situation is not something that needs encouragment...

Ive been renting in that building since 1999 and I DO NOT want to lose my room through the actions of people who think they dont need to follow the rules or dont realize thet rules exist and neighbours who own homes have power in their own municipality.

ALSO: If you get the letter first, dont chop it up into flaps or toilet paper, pass the damn thing onto the other bands that rent in your room and MAKE SURE THEY UNDERSTAND. - Thu, 17 Jul 2008 4:28pm

I have only been at this spot for a few months but I have known bands in there for years and it would be a shame to go and find that others have ruined it for all the rest of us ,so grow oup or ship out we don't need that here. - Thu, 17 Jul 2008 4:50pm

I've seen doors open countless times when bands are jamming!! why do they do that, I'll automatically close their doors. that place is such a party on Friday nights. - Thu, 17 Jul 2008 4:53pm

I'm surprised people STILL have doors open. Yes, there is no ventilation whatsoever in those places, but you gotta live with that and try to air out the place during breaks (I know, impossible). I don't know how many times there have been written warnings about this.

Last time I was there on a saturday, around midnight, a certain metal band on the east corner had their door neatly closed but decided to OPEN THEIR WINDOW instead. Right next to the drums. Every note was perfectly audible to the houses on Aldebury street.

Shame. - Fri, 18 Jul 2008 12:37pm

Is there new management?

Cause leaving garbage around, throwing bottles, sending stuff over the balcony, having letters put on the doors and jamming with the doors open has been going on for YEARS and YEARS....nothing new there....same shit different day!

It's kinda unfortunate and I do wish ya luck...'cause it's a great spot for bands....but many a management has come and gone and the same stuff keeps happening!! - Thu, 31 Jul 2008 3:30pm Edited: Thu, 31 Jul 2008 3:31pm

New management needs new 24/7 cameras to illuminate the culprits, and immediately move all their shit out into the streets.

How can it not be a matter of time before any sane person asks themselves, 'Why Bother with this bullshit?', and turn around and make a killing on the sale or destruction of the building to become expensive condos.

There is obviously some money to be made in that crazy business, but eventually the 1000-pound shit-hammer comes down.

What I don't understand is; Is there a whole lot of bands keeping the doors open and partying until next-week, or a manageable number of assholes?

If the good outnumber the bad, then it sounds like a time for street justice. - Fri, 1 Aug 2008 4:37am Edited: Fri, 1 Aug 2008 4:42am

It is only a few dickheads causing all the problems.

Street justice is in full effect, but rarely do I camp out the jamspot at midnight on Sunday to go yell at people for acting like they are 12 years old.

It is nothing new. Its just self centered kids that don't care about or respect anything else around them.

But yes I agree, single them out and kick them out. Problem solved... until the next group of twits move in. - Fri, 1 Aug 2008 8:21am Edited: Fri, 1 Aug 2008 8:21am

Let's face it- the new management doesn't want us there anymore. They will tell us all kinds of things about how it would be so much more profitable to lease the space out for commercial businesses etc. However, it will cost them a fortune to re-model or just improve the spaces before ANYONE ELSE in their right mind would move in! And what are they going to do about the styrene fumes when the new tenants complain? Write a letter? The entire top floor would have to be gutted. We already get charged an unreasonable amount to play in those shitholes with no support from the land er, slum-lords IMO. I think that we are providing a nice little revenue stream every month for these people in exchange for having to do NOTHING about upkeep and repairs. Don't get me wrong, I like rehearsing there it's just we've heard it all before. Remember, every summer any band practicing anywhere will get more complaints because other people have their windows open and can actually hear us instead of blissfully watching "The Hills" or "So you think you can Dance". After it starts to get cold again I bet the noise complaints will miraculously go down again. - Fri, 1 Aug 2008 4:03pm

That place sat empty for years.. back in the day the recording studio in #103 were the only tenants in the whole building! (Bent Sound..)

Then the marble shop moved in and the styrene scared Bent Sound's clients away and they shut down.

Colliers were nice enough to seal the floors and vent the marble shop and the fumes went away in #103.,.

The Church oF Scientology moved in for a few months and a vacuum cleaner salesman for a few months but they were all shortlived..

The bands are the best thing that building has seen for years in those shitholes. And you are right EvilKleg.. NOBODY else wants those rooms which is why they sat empty for years, not to mention the current styrene situation in every room past #104. - Fri, 1 Aug 2008 5:34pm

Just be thankful that you got to jam there for so long! Did you honestly think it was going to last forever? Eventually the building will be sold and you'll all be out on your Asses, its called business and the all mighty dollar! you think the new owner is going to care about a few bands who can’t afford their own studios? NOPE, they care about demolishing the building and rebuilding in prime commercial local! Start planning your departure, that’s my advice. - Tue, 5 Aug 2008 2:23pm

No worries there BB Jones, I hear ya, those bands that think they are already famous and can do what they want right, there is a certain band in there, won't name any "metal" names, but they have the holier than thou attitude and think they own the place. Trust me fellows you have not made it out of Victoria yet! Therefore maybe slow down on the attitude. You maybe ok but nothing special. having a few friends there and 'partying' technically shouldnt be an issue.. however, friends will do things like leave doors open while the band are playing.. maybe the band are absorbed and don't notice.. the same friends will leave their beer bottles on the railing.. which gets bumped and smashes glass down into the parking lot and entrance ways of the day time businesses below. (or onto their work vehicles roofs) Drunk friends may be very loud and hooting and hollering.. while the distant dull thud of a bass amp may not bother a home owner, the sound of drunk hooligans smashing glass and swearing echoing off the cement walled buildings might freak them right out. Its all relative and preventable with a small amount of common sense. - Wed, 6 Aug 2008 12:34pm

aw man someone had to go and mention that freaked-out little shrub Julian May?! A stomach-turning memory comes to mind of him showing off a pair of handcuffs on the wall above his bed - in a room shared with, or next door to, (n)Arcfiend/Dreadnaut. (currently Mito's jam spot, I believe)
While I'm at this old man reminiscing thing, I REALLY miss the old salad days ('89-94) - O.T.T.G sharing #104 with this incredibly depressing bar band who then fucked off and got replaced by a bunch of Tony Goluza bands and Pigment Vehicle. 104 was also known as the Dethpit, and we had a bunch of cool, CROWDED gigs there like Victims Family, Ed Hall, Don Cabellero, Foreskin 500, and 'drum clinics' with Rey Washam and John McIntyre. Next door was a woodworking shop - two dudes - one of them was this quiet, polite dude named Paul who rigged up a system whereby a door-bell button on the wall behind my drums could be pressed - once for one beer, twice for two, etc - and voila he'd arrive with white gloves holding a tray with x amount of beer. He also took orders for KD, tuna sandwiches, or hot dogs. It was fucking sick. If I recall correctly Tim and Hugh ran up gargantuan tabs. I was a bit more respectful on that front. - Thu, 7 Aug 2008 5:24pm

There's a new notice posted on all the doors.. the OWNER is touring through all the rooms on Thursday 28th at 4pm. This may be the visit that determines the future of bands in the building..
