I listened to it. It sucks. Wasted 5 mins of my day.Very shitty recording, and obviously shitty musicians were used. Now, before you all freak out on me for being negative, think about this, it SUCKS. If it didn't, i wouldn't say it, and its NOT fast. Shitty does not make it fast. - Wed, 11 Jun 2008 5:29pm Edited: Wed, 11 Jun 2008 5:30pm

How refreshing to see someone with the balls to give honest feedback on Live Vic.
There's far too much undeserved accolades given here. As though by simply being part of the Victoria scene you are owed a pat on the back / high five for making music, shitty as it may be.

And "Streetsharks" are shitty-as-it-may-be. - Wed, 11 Jun 2008 8:08pm

I'm not in this band or anything, but do you two (Flatulenze and Endeløs) like the band Infest?

Here's a myspace link (a fan page, I think):
http://www.myspace.com/infesthardcore

I'm pretty sure if you think Street Sharks are shitty, you won't like Infest either. And Infest were ridiculously popular and influential within their style of music. Maybe just because you don't like the style of music doesn't mean it's shitty. I'm going to agree that the recordings are way too poor for my liking. I can imagine liking the recordings a lot more if they were multitracked and done with expensive microphones and a real studio. But I can see where the band is coming from. Infest and this fast/pv style isn't so much my thing, but I still appreciate that some young kids are into something other than the "power pop" that's unfortunately dominating the high school music crowd these days. - Wed, 11 Jun 2008 8:37pm Edited: Wed, 11 Jun 2008 8:38pm

Songs are way too short for my liking, I don't care if that's the style. Imagine going to a show? I'd feel cheated, I'll stick to that huge arena style chorus. - Thu, 12 Jun 2008 6:17am Edited: Thu, 12 Jun 2008 6:18am

How does this work? I'm not going to knock the music, but I don't get how this develops a following. If I thrashed out power chords on a guitar and screamed into a microphone for 13.8 seconds, is that good? What can be considered good in this? I mean, am I just totally clueless?

Do you hear this sort of thing and think "I really like that riff" or "that's a rad drumbeat"? Or is the purpose to not care about that shit and focus the energy on farting out effortless noise? Or am I just not hearing where the effort has been placed?

I'm not trying to be a dick, I'm just completely uninformed. - Thu, 12 Jun 2008 12:52pm

Well obviously this band is not exactly the pinnacle of this style of music... the best bands in this general style (at least to me) are pretty much able to take the contents of a two minute punk song or what have you and rage through them in 30 seconds. If you listen to something like Infest (the band Tyler linked to a few posts up) you'll find that there's actually a lot of shit being crammed into those few seconds and that being able to play at that speed with that degree of precision actually takes quite a bit of practice and is way more than just mindlessly "thrashing out some power chords and screaming into a microphone". There is stuff going on, and when I listen to it I do in fact find riffs and individual parts that are fucking awesome, on the contrary to your implication it just requires you to actually be listening to hear them before they blast by rather than having them repeatedly beaten into your conscious for 3 minutes. Obviously it's not a style of music that's for everyone, but then again bands like Napalm Death and Pig Destroyer have gotten pretty well known having really short songs so I guess a few others out there like it. - Thu, 12 Jun 2008 1:06pm Edited: Thu, 12 Jun 2008 1:07pm

Hahahaha Swingin' Joe, you got me. I do love Set Your Goals, although I think I spent the entire set taking pictures. Anyway, I'm going to go ahead and drop out of this thread with my head in shame, you found one of my guilty pleasures. - Thu, 12 Jun 2008 4:10pm

Ok i will say it. They all suck. The only reason they have a following, is because THEY follow themselves.

Think of it this way.

If your girlfriend got dressed up and wanted your opinion, would you tell her she looked like shit, if she did? No you wouldn't. You would say she looks good. Or....

Lets say you hang with a bunch of guys. None of these guys, nor yourself, have any musicial talent. Let's say they recorded some of this shitty music, and got you to comment. Would you tell them it sucks? No you wouldn't.

These children have nothing else to do but sit around and suck on the instruments. If they were to say anything negative about their friends band, then they wouldnt have friends.

This thread is best left for recess time at school guys. SO take your recordings, transfer them to your Ipod, and talk about it at school. Coming on hear, and posted this crap, will not validate this absurd injustice to musicians everywhere.

I remember Jeff saying that quite a few local bands suck. Hmm, funny. Cause all these bands actually have gigs, and a following.

Guitar for STREET SHARKS? No thanks, i'd be more interested in hanging out with real musicians whom don't select their style of music writing in direct comparison to musical skills. Now, if you guys were willing to actual TRY and learn your instruments, i would be willing. - Sun, 15 Jun 2008 4:18pm

Thats such a strict, boring retort "learn your instruments". Blah blah blah skill this and that. Why monopolize sound? Music is meant to be fun. No likey? No clicky. - Mon, 16 Jun 2008 12:23am
