yeah ok Ike! cause i'm sure the "band members" that practice there are clean and healthy right, they don't do drugs and drink booze right! hahahahaha and cigarettes don't cause cancer, if it's that bad why are they still there? I guess the brain damage has already taken place! too fucking funny. - Fri, 30 May 2008 11:58pm Edited: Fri, 30 May 2008 11:58pm

Toxic fumes and drugs, booze and cigarettes are pretty different balls of wax.
I'm sure only half of the musicians in the affected rooms are wacked out on said intoxicants, so why should the other half be neglected.
Speaking from personal experience, those fumes are downright evil. Extreme headaches develop within minutes and the damage done is probably worse than anyone has imagined. - Sat, 31 May 2008 12:13am

I think we're in one of the rooms that's not so bad, but I know none of us are on drugs/drinking at band practice. I honestly don't mind it that much, but as I said, I'm pretty sure we're in one of the better rooms. - Sat, 31 May 2008 11:20am

I concur with Mr Hell, it's a 50/50 split.
I've never noticed any noxious smells in there, well other than when Ross B ay has been in the crapper recently. - Sat, 31 May 2008 1:54pm

yah Dirk you retard the toxic fumes I mean come from the fibreglass plant below the jamspots.. I was in 107 on the nights of the days they did the most resin work and as a result know all too well what its like to breathe that crap for 3 hours while jamming.. its a FAR cry from smokin pot and having a few drinks! Now back in 103 again, and not even a faint hint of fumes.. it rules! Obviously Dirk the newbie bitch has never been in a fibrelgass shop before..

T/C the fumes arent a problem down past about 104.. but 106 and 107 are insane, I think 105 is pretty bad too..? - Sat, 31 May 2008 2:35pm Edited: Sat, 31 May 2008 2:38pm

I'm in 106. I mean, it smells, for sure, but I personally don't mind it. I get a headache after a few hours, but I account that to yelling and listening to really loud music with no earphones (I'm an idiot) - Sat, 31 May 2008 4:47pm

I'm in 106 as well, and I've found after drumming for a couple hours in there, my throat begins to feel pretty dry. I'm not sure if thats due to the fumes, but I wouldn't be surprised. Usually I'll let the room air out for a bit before we do any jamming, but I am worried about what kind of long term effects could result from breathing that crap in.

Is there anything that can be done about the companies below us. Perhaps have them install better ventilation? I guess I'm directing that question at Sutton. - Sun, 1 Jun 2008 4:23pm

A few years ago we got quite a bit of migraine-inducing fumes from the business directly below. Complained to the management (before Laetitia) and the ventilation problem was fixed within a week. That was in unit 102. Surely the business(es) further down can do more to fix the issue?

Also a few years back they laid down the law that no music can be played between 8:00 AM and 5:30 PM on weekdays. Perhaps if nothing can be done about the fumes themselves, it is only fair to ask the culprit to not do any styrene work on weekdays between 5:30 PM and 8 AM, and during the weekend.

Fuck, I'm almost getting a headache now just thinking about those fumes. - Wed, 4 Jun 2008 5:09pm Edited: Wed, 4 Jun 2008 5:12pm

back in the day, #103 had the same issue.. Bent Sound moved out because of it, and we took over the lease. a few weeks of communication and the issue was fixed. Colliers took no time to fix the situation.. Sutton made alot of promises, but months later nothing had been done. Colliers also knew first hand that not many businesses want those rooms and left the rent affordable to bands... back in the day #103 was the only room rented out on the whole top level for at least a year, until the bands started moving in..
