I thought they disbanded because Jaron insisted on doing too many arpeggios.

I don't think that was the primary reason they disbanded. Ask Adrian about it. There was a lot of stuff going on. Anyway, he's in Solstice now, a fucking well deserved position, look out for him on that material. Doom metal. Fuuucking tight. - Sun, 11 May 2008 10:35pm

"I thought they disbanded because Jaron insisted on doing too many arpeggios."

That's actually hilarious because there's some truth behind that statement - although Jaron wasn't arpeggio-bound, he had some killer sweeps and an 80's-true-metal feel with his soloing, and I wanted more of that as well, but Seasons folded before new material could be written for him to throw that onto.

Although Jesse's "new found passion" is one self-explanatory reason - the reasons were many in addition (musical differences - living in multiple locations - members owing me money - lack of the willingness of some band members to put in some simple effort to make things happen) - and as I was the only one practically managing the band and sick of the shit, I was also the one who ended it.

I'm actually not joking when I say this though - I was more astounded that Jesse's rapping in KOREAN more than anything else (and he does it frighteningly well)...Chinese soil he left to a week after I last spoke to him - and he's having the most painful time hiding from his fans that he hates Avril Lavinge (his fans are Asian girls 13-17,) and doing absolutely everything he possibly can to avoid having a public opinion on the Tibet issue...not that he really has one - but he was telling me that apparently Bjork got banned from China for saying "Free Tibet" at the end of a show, hehehee!

Ahhh...must be tough for a Canadian (now Asian?) pop celebrity having to ensure that the material doesn't offend the communist dictatorship...hehehe!!! Ah Jesse, what a peach he is...

Hmm...what are the others up to?

Jaron is in a (surprise!) technical death metal band (name is still being decided on I think?) with some ex-members of GREMORY and RITUAL DEMYSE - the songs are reported to not be as epic in length as GREMORY's material but it's supposed to have more of an ODIOUS MORTUM feel to it.

Evan is in a (surprise! surprise!) technical progressive rock band or something - but he was always a Mike Portnoy zealot - plus the monkey face....nah, they both have the monkey face....

Julian continued on with film making I think - apparently he's going to the Northwest passage on a ship for half a year or some crazy shit? I'll have to check with him again on that one....

Myah I think moved to North Van to go to Camosun or something....not sure what she's up to...

I work in a call center - I'm $40000 in student loan debt - the more people I meet the more I like my cats...oh yeah, SOLSTICE! More SOLSTICE info will be revealed in another thread... - Mon, 12 May 2008 1:57am Edited: Mon, 12 May 2008 1:58am

Ouch! I hope that $40,000 landed you a good job as that would feel painful to have to work a regular job (something you didnt study for) and be paying off such a large loan. - Mon, 12 May 2008 9:33am

At what? The fact that Jesse Day is a gay rapper (and Darren Day's son), or that Alkaline blew $40,000 on an education in astrology? - Mon, 12 May 2008 7:55pm

so you are saying Darren Day had a son when he was 15 years old? (ask XY Satan about his Darren Day story hehe its a funny one..)

But.. I dont get the 'dont offend the commies' part. if he raps in Korean.. Im sure he isnt playing in North Korea... and of course South Korea is a democracy... or is he playing in North Korea? that'd be groundbreaking, unless he is Kim Jong Il's little western pet.

or is he touring in China but rapping in Korean? Korean is actually a shit mix of a language that comes in various dialects depending on the area.

Now Im getting hungry. - Tue, 13 May 2008 3:11pm Edited: Tue, 13 May 2008 3:13pm

Hehe, I get that a lot...no, I got a tech/IT support job so it pays reasonably well - maybe not as well as a Math/Physics teacher, which was my original goal - Astronomy was a more enjoyable amalgamation of Math and Physics (and how it actually applies to our tangible, observable universe) - but you'd have to have a Ph.D. to really do something with it. One of my profs was actually on the international adjudicating committee for which scientist would get to use the Hubble Space telescope a few years ago...they could only choose ONE candidate out of a HUNDRED proposals....so yeah, unless you have a revolutionary new idea, or have the luck of discovering the primordial background radiation of the big bang after cleaning pigeon shit from a telescope (lol) or can convince the government why we have to be on the lookout for upcoming asteroids that MIGHT hit our planet - there's no money in that field - but it sure makes me sound smart on resumes and promotions (lol). I was thinking about the PDPP/teaching certificate but that would cost who knows how much more money on "learning the values of how to communicate and raise our young," that honestly doesn't interest me at all, and with a bigger debt and (maybe) getting a teaching position - I may as well get an Astrology degree (do they exist?)

"But.. I dont get the 'dont offend the commies' part. if he raps in Korean.. Im sure he isnt playing in North Korea... and of course South Korea is a democracy... or is he playing in North Korea? that'd be groundbreaking, unless he is Kim Jong Il's little western pet."

You know...neither do I - all I know is that he was concerned about not being affiliated or considered against communist politics in the Chinese public eye. He apparently has fans whose msn aliases range from "FUCK YOU DALI LAMA" to "FREE TIBET NOW" and I'm guessing he just doesn't want to rock the boat of his fanbase (lol)

I only heard one song of his where he's rapping in Korean and it was the strangest fucking thing I heard (hence experiencing Bo's anyeurism - *twitch twitch*) - sure, I'm just as closed-minded to hip-hop as the metalhead beside me - but how many "Canadian west-coast rappers" do that? And apparently he's teaching Korean there too - he's not even from North/South Korea - but to be honest I don't really care what he does...I just found it odd... - Tue, 13 May 2008 9:28pm Edited: Tue, 13 May 2008 9:29pm

Adrian, if you're interested in teaching high school, it's only another 10-12 months (depending on practicum length) once you've finished your degree (which I'm assuming you have). Just thought I'd throw that out there for you.

10-12 months? Yeah I've got my B.Sc....but there's still some prerequisites I'd have to take depending on the school I'd go to - (UVic demands 2nd-year chem and a couple others I think, even just for Math - I don't know how 2nd-year chem applies to grade 11/12 math, but whatever) and Malaspina can't figure out what the fuck I need (long story - lol) so it may instead be 14-16 months, or 18-20 months depending on what electives they need...maybe I just need to look for the right school - thanks for the heads up though! - Wed, 14 May 2008 1:07pm
