Fuck, man. I definitely like this as done in the studio!
I think the cranked keyboard noise is what people couldn't handle in the live setting. - Sat, 3 May 2008 2:59pm

One of the first people who told me they developed a headache from Compound Terror was actually a member of Tyrant's Blood. He is neither my mom, nor my mom's friend.
But that was a great little attempt at trying to be cool. - Sun, 4 May 2008 1:29pm Edited: Sun, 4 May 2008 4:03pm

I was complimenting this demo. You felt the need to make a comment about me taking my mom and her friends to this show. What's my problem?
I review shows using all the information I hear and see. I don't set out to ambush bands. It is unbiased reviewing.
You are the one taking things personally and they don't even have to do with you in the first place. - Mon, 5 May 2008 6:38am

I got the feeling the guys from Tyrants Blood weren't down with us. Hahah when someone from the band takes the time to post online and thank one of the opening bands and not the other it sends a pretty clear message.

Don't worry though, we won't be giving them any more headaches, we were offered a show in Vancouver by a promoter with them and declined. Its too bad too, I really really like that band.

Oh well, the metal scene is just SO HUGE, obviously bands don't have to support each other. I'll be out at shows to support TB in the future, regardless. - Mon, 5 May 2008 7:25am

hahah damn. that's internet message boards for you. I'm glad you like it. I just honestly thought you guys weren't down with us so I didn't want to jump some bill you were on to a chorus of sighs and rolled eyes. Like I said I am in full support of your band, not meaning to spread harmful gossip or anything. - Mon, 5 May 2008 8:34am

.. and what I ACTUALLY said to that promoter who offered us the show was "I'm not sure if those guys like us, just ask them first before you add us to the bill" which I thought was courteous. He just offered us another show, anyways.

ahhh internet, my old sworn enemy. seriously though shit, Tyrants Blood are fucking sick. - Mon, 5 May 2008 8:38am

But yeah, I hate how somehow , no matte what, one day your lurking around the net before work and GLEEP* you accicdently get sucked into the Internet Gossip Vortex by no will of your own doing.
It's inevitable somehow.
Anyways, the demo sounds good. - Mon, 5 May 2008 8:46am

Here's the thing.. people often automatically assume that if one person in a band states an opinion, that everyone in that band has the exact same outlook. Which as those of us in bands should know, is far from true.

And Sati, saying a band gives you a headache is far from 'shit talking'

And whats with all these 'sensitive' metalhead arguements.. who cares! If you want to be all sensitive and get hurt feelings about every little thing spouted on the net, time to get some tighter jeans and an oversized trucker hat. - Mon, 5 May 2008 11:11am

yeah I don't know what I was thinking posting that. who cares if people think we suck. in fact, we shouldn't blow smoke up shitty bands' asses; there is a good section of vancouver metal I have nothing nice to say about, and would not go out to 'support' unless there were other bands playing that I liked, and typically these bands just throw ill-conceived all-local bar shows that no one could be bothered to give a shit about anyways. think about how good and big metal shows would be if they happened like, once or twice a month, and you had to not suck shit to open for bands that were actually coming from out of town. that would be cool, right? then said shit bands would be practicing on friday night to make that opening spot rather than going out to the bar to suck off their friends and drink beer and continue to suck. i seriously don't know how the cobalt stays open every day of the week. its amazing. - Mon, 5 May 2008 3:28pm

As long as we're dragging this out
For the record my mom used to say the music I listened to was headache inducing.
Every day people on here make mom jokes, how was I to know he'd actually take offence? Yeah, chalk mine up to "emotional issues" (cuz women can't just be grouchy - and who are you??) that I finally lashed out at him, but I didn't carefully compose my snarky comment over 2 1/2 hrs either.
And of course headache inducing isn't talking shit in and of itself, but mentioning someone's mom on a msg board isn't normally the end of the world either.

So I'll refrain from commenting about CT again since they don't have anything to do with me in the first place.

Glad that was cleared up. Btw, I'm not a metalhead.
But "scenester" huh? I like it! Gotta get me the right belt. - Mon, 5 May 2008 4:02pm Edited: Mon, 5 May 2008 4:03pm

Holy fuck, what are you all going on about now?
All I said was a member said it gave him a headache. Whether he liked it or not, I have no idea. He did state that the keyboards were causing the problem. It was an aural issue. Why do people read into things so much. Just read what you see and everything will be fine.
Please don't assume things based on my tidbit of info that was only posted here to show Sati that my review was not me being malicious. A guy who likes and plays fast metal got a headache from a band's set. That was my point.
Didn't want to drag anyone into it, but Sati forced my hand.
The mom comment wasn't the issue. The issue was the pointless way in which an argument was started over nothing in a thread that shouldn't have been turned into a flame war, but kept as Compound Terror's demo release review. The mom stuff just happened to be the catalyst.
Mom joke away. Do your best!
Anyway, hope this all helps CT in the long run. Creating a buzz and such. - Mon, 5 May 2008 9:28pm

Great shit, Scott & Co! Quite impressed. This is screaming for a rumbling distorted bass (I'm thinking Inhume style).

Add a riff or two to the songs and cut the noise in half. In my opinion the noise is where it's lacking. Not giving me a headache at this point, but there's really nothing exciting about it.

Great guitar sound too! - Wed, 7 May 2008 9:24am

Thanks Jasper!

... and if you know anyone who has a bass that can tune down to F# (needs extended range or something? I'm not hip to you 'real musicians' and your 'notes' and 'terminology' or whatever) send them our way. We'd like a bass player.

Also, just for that comment about the power electronics, we're going to add more noise. Heheheh. - Thu, 8 May 2008 8:27am

Thanks for all the feedback. We are going to try and make a vicious full length with what we learned from doing this one.

We don't need a bass player at this point, though. We having been writing for a three piece with an 8-string for a while and I think adding a bass player would change the music we write. Some might say for the better...but it would change...and I really REALLY like doing this. I'm using my vocalist veto power, Scott.

PS: no keyboards have been anywhere near my noise setup. - Tue, 13 May 2008 8:25am

Kevin wants a bass player. And I don't see how adding a bassplayer would change our sound, other than fattening the EQ band we're currently raping. - Tue, 13 May 2008 12:20pm

I guess we will see how it goes if we ever get a bass player to try out for us. I think that extended range, low tuning might be an issue for most basement bass enthusiasts, though. - Tue, 13 May 2008 6:07pm Edited: Tue, 13 May 2008 6:14pm
