no, id say Kipper did fine, nothing he could do about the goals, not to mention he faced 30 shots in the first half of the game, come on now, if that sdoesnt cscream TEAM choke, what does.

oh well, i'm content, my Canadiens marched on to the next round and have a legitimate chance at a cup this year, easily the best suited Canadian team in the NHL. - Wed, 23 Apr 2008 1:56am

personally, kinda dissapointed with seeing the Caps knocked out. Stupid Flyers.. you hear that Donny? I hope you are happy.

The Habs will choke too. Price will revert to his true form and in the fans will boo him to another team.. Its wahat they deserve, I mean, what kind of lame ass fans start a riot when they WIN a first series?? - Wed, 23 Apr 2008 10:41am

How is the Canucks' playoff run going this year? They're sure to win it with Luongo in net! Right? - Fri, 25 Apr 2008 2:28pm

either way the flames didn't exactly do too much other than play 7 more games than the canucks... wouldn't be braggin' there especially when an over the hill goaltender steps in and to take the spotlight.
And besides; at least the 'nucks would've beaten the Sharks had they had the chance.
But alas, both teams are out and on the golf course... - Fri, 25 Apr 2008 3:13pm

To answer your question, yes. If the Canucks make some intelligent off-season moves and aquire some scoring talent, then yes, they will win it with Luongo in net. The Flames on the other hand,...I think that they may want to hold on to CuJo for next year, just incase.

to answer your question(as dumb as it may be); it isn't entirely impossible to win a cup riding a goalie... Its just unluckey that Calgary cant seem to find a clutch time goalie thats not about to apply for a pension. Good luck next year. - Thu, 1 May 2008 3:12pm

At least the Canucks get a higher draft pick, a brand spankin new GM, and most likely a new coach.
How bout Montreal, losing Price is going to fuck with my pool. I knew Philly was good at the beginning of the season. - Sun, 4 May 2008 3:51am Edited: Sun, 4 May 2008 3:53am

You must seriously be kidding! For any Canuck fan to start this thread is the worst example of poor sportsmanship and whining of all time. After one of the worst meltdowns in pro sports history you think coming in here and saying you feel sorry for us is a laugh. If you feel sorry for the Flames then I can only imagine how you feel about the loser canucks. You shouldnt ever speak another word about hockey in 2008 unless it is to praise a team for being in the playoffs. The first round is better than the first tee any day! I feel sorry for you and all the canucks fans out there but dont feel sorry for the Flames. - Wed, 7 May 2008 4:48pm

Oh a higher draft pick and new GM!! GREAT, that really means shit all. You'll prolly finish 8th or 9th again next year , if your lucky! I will bet anyone that the Blackhawks finish ahead of the Canucks next year!! - Wed, 7 May 2008 4:51pm

The Canucks suffered 184 lost man games last season to injury JUST ON DEFENSE.
They finished the year with Morrison, Pyatt, and Mason Raymond injured, effectively their entire second line.
What's Calgary's excuse? Year after year, the same.
Just not a good enough team. Next year, no major changes. Same old, same old.
Expect another struggle for a play-off spot, then quick elimination.
Sutter couldn't do it in San Jose. Can't do it in Calgary. Kiprusoff should have been left on waivers. He is not reliable.
At least Vancouver fans can look forward to exciting changes. Calgary fans get another year of an exciting Captain, and mediocre team.

worst meltdown in pro sports history? LOL.
I dont usually talk shit about "fans" mostly cuz everyone has their own opinion... no matter how naive and idiotic it is. BUT; when it comes to Toronto and Calgary fans... they should all be relegated to the ECHL along with their coveted "awesome talent packed" teams.
heres one for you Flames fans; a false sense of assurance is never better than a cold hard shot of reality. - Thu, 8 May 2008 2:33pm

Any doubt about how important draft picks are should take a look at the Pittsburgh Penguins. Holy crap. The NHL hasn't seen such a young talented team for years. This season's scp's will go down in history. - Sat, 10 May 2008 2:33am Edited: Sat, 10 May 2008 3:32am

in all fairness using the pens as an example is probably the absolute best out come a team could have, next to the Oilers/Islanders dynasty(yes i know those are big words... but the pens of this year are a team that could be just as great). It never goes THAT well. Mind u, that being said, its not entirely un-possible that the Canucks can create a young fast and good team. Especially when we're gunna get a couple good draft picks. - Sat, 10 May 2008 2:02pm

I should think by your penmanship and sharp wit JI that your somewhat knowledgable about hockey. I might have guessed wrong. A cold hard shot of reality eh? Hows waking up to your team hiring Mike Keenan as a head coach followed by our year after year signing of old timers ( Owen Nolen, Adrian Aucoin etc. ) to fill out our roster; and then the usual battle for a final spot or two and capped off by getting eliminated in the first round again for the 3rd year in a row as well as having only gottten past the first round once since our cup win in 89. Yes almost 20 years. If that isnt a cold hard shot of fuckin reality I dont know what is. Now what exactly do you think Toronto fans and Flames fans have in common? I hate the Leafs as does every Flame fan I know. If you think we are the most disrespectful fans in the league then your dreaming. Ever met a passionate Habs fan or Flyers fan? Apparently Not! Better yet ever met a passionate Canucks fan. Thats right there's not many. Try going over to a game sometime and look around you. Sleepy, boring, uninterested, rich socialites that think its cool to watch the " Canucks " Even the young hockey lovin canadian kids and parents are wondering why they paid so much money to sit and watch this. Most of them would get a better bang for their buck at a Giants game! All I say is that the Canucks style of play is extremely lame and boring to watch. That cannot be argued. The Flames play a 2 man forecheck with alot of aggression and hitting and plenty of fists to back things up. I have heard the injury plea all year and just have to say that I dont think that many of the Canucks injuries were to goal producing forwards. Morrison isnt going to help that much and most of the other injuries to scoring forwards were short term. Not to say the defence didnt get banged up pretty good but with extremely injury prone guys like Salo on the top 6 then thats going to happen. Yes Bieksa's injury and a couple of others were not normal but I thought your youngsters on D like Edler stood up pretty well. Dont forget you have the best goaltender in the league ( although he looked a little unreliable to me TC )in net every night so you shouldnt need the leagues best defence to be a pretty good team. Im sure you dont want to start comparing captains but like Luongo I think Iginla is the best at his position in the league so we should have no shortcomings in the top 2 lines at right wing. I will fully admit that the Flames have not done a good job with their draft picks in the last 5 years and they just fired about 90% of their scouts because of it. Um yes that last 3 weeks of the regular season was a complete travesty for the Canucks. They couldnt win to save their life. Im sure they would admit to it being one of their worst meltdowns in their history. I think they were 4 pts out of the division lead with 9 games remaining and about a dozen up on Edmonton and Chicago?! Yes you can all speculate on how the Canucks will look next year and with all they have going for them ( especially if Markus retires and if they dont re-sign Morrison ) they could have a killer team, but Im gonna bet that they dont and I will also bet that they finish behind the Chicago Blackhawks in the point standings next year.
