I'm not personally interested in groupies and whatever per se anyway, but I was making the point that there is no good reason to deny ourselves success based on some self-flagellating concept that success is bad. A gold record obviously has no intrinsic value (besides that of the gold content, I suppose), but is merely a symbol representing accomplishment in the music industry. Being able to make a living off of one's art is not bad either, so long as money is not the part of the relationship with the creative input. So hey, if the extent of your ambition as an "artist" is to make thrashy, angsty noise to a half-full gymnasium full of delinquent 13 year olds too drunk / stoned / high / undeservedly bitter to care what the hell is coming out of the speakers so long as its loud and angry-soundng while hashing out some kind of sorry, half-assed existence as a janitor or Walmart Associate, and living in your MOM's basement, fill your boots. But don't come on here and tell me that I am what is wrong with music. You might have a different perspective on life once you finally grow up, and if you don't, please look me up; my father-in-law is great psychologist / addiction counselor. You can still hold your integrity and sell CDs at HMV. I think the main thing, is to not alienate your core fanbase.
