Hey guys this is Arend from Fableway here, anyone low on tech-punk? We got your boost right here. Since last year's release of the "Fableway" Lp (order it at HMV.CA or at your local HMV store) we've written 14 new songs that we would love to share with you young, over-mod and emo-rocked Victoria denizens. So if you need a solid closer, or an opener to get the crowd jumping kicking and clawing, we'll fill your slot, so to speak. With about an hour and a half of original material (before my lungs give out) we keep the core hard and the rock, punk.

"your a joke "

Jokes are awesome. They're my favourite thing other than free jazz music and beat poems. That's a terrible insult. You're a perfect done steak meal. You're a free case of beer. See how it doesn't work. Gotta use bad things. - Mon, 2 Jun 2008 10:31pm

just give it up already Jeff... bands play shows, smart bands TRY and sell music, good bands SELL music, lucky bands sell LOTS of music. Its the classic TRY SELL LOTS music strategy, and if I dont have to clean toilets the rest of my life (custodian, DICK!) because of it, then Im not going to. Its not wrong and its not ever going to stop. If you want to express your negativity, please do it in the "Controversy and Quarantine" message boards... some people have shows to plan. There... that was some jokes. - Wed, 4 Jun 2008 3:58pm Edited: Wed, 4 Jun 2008 3:58pm

I'll never understand this whole attitude that bands who find even moderate success in the mainstream are somehow selling out. I agree that musical forms create solely for the purpose of making money may be termed as such (eg. Bubblegum Pop), but making music that other people can enjoy surely is not a crime.

Anyway, why bother arguing with these trolls - let them live in their grandparents' basements playing World of Warcraft and making esoteric music that nobody but them will ever appreciate. More groupies / gigs / gold records / bucks for the rest of us! - Thu, 5 Jun 2008 9:50am

k first of all i dont live in my grandparents basement, i live in my moms basement and second of all i dont play WOW and thrid of all i cant assure you that groupies and gold records are fucking useless pieces of garbage. oh yeah id rather have a few kids thrash then have a bunch of assholes standing and drinking a beer while watching my shitty band play at fucking evo. you are whats wrong with music. - Thu, 5 Jun 2008 12:05pm

For God's sake boy, get a life. I am not what's wrong with music. For the record I was kidding about the groupies, etc.. I'm not personally interested in groupies and whatever per se anyway, but I was making the point that there is no good reason to deny ourselves success based on some self-flagellating concept that success is bad.

A gold record obviously has no intrinsic value (besides that of the gold content, I suppose), but is merely a symbol representing accomplishment in the music industry. Being able to make a living off of one's art is not bad either, so long as money is not the part of the relationship with the creative input.

So hey, if the extent of your ambition as an "artist" is to make thrashy, angsty noise to a half-full gymnasium full of delinquent 13 year olds too drunk / stoned / high / undeservedly bitter to care what the hell is coming out of the speakers so long as its loud and angry-soundng while hashing out some kind of sorry, half-assed existence as a janitor or Walmart Associate, and living in your MOM's basement, fill your boots. But don't come on here and tell me that I am what is wrong with music.

You might have a different perspective on life once you finally grow up, and if you don't, please look me up; my father-in-law is great psychologist / addiction counselor. You'll probably need one. - Thu, 5 Jun 2008 12:49pm

No worries Saint, this is too fun to read. The funny part is, IM the janitor who plays WOW!!! Im working my ass off to put myself through college, record albums, tour, raise money for traveling, pay rent... and some kid who lives with his mommy is going to tell me IM A SELLOUT.

I wish I could be as cool and as rebellious as this kid. Did you know he pays HIS OWN CELLPHONE BILL??? thank you very much. Tell me, is texting your teenybopper heavy petting boyfriends more punk than playing good music?? Why dont you use the bandana in your back pocket to wipe the cum out of your ears? Then you might hear how shitty your band sounds.

By the way, my skin is thick as fuck. - Thu, 5 Jun 2008 6:17pm

I'm saving for college in the fall. If you learned grammar, you might get to go one day. You don't get the good job until AFTER you finish your degree. For now, I'll settle for just under 20$/hr and union benefits. But that's not as punk as flipping burgers is it??? Or is there some hardcore scene moral opposition to making money off of work too?? Oh wait, I probably shouldn't go to school either, because that makes me just a cog in the corporate enterprise right? - Thu, 5 Jun 2008 9:56pm

This thread makes me laugh. Bands should want to move forwards and upwards to get their name out there. Not meander playing to the same six kids night in and night out. You can still hold your integrity and sell CDs at HMV. I think the main thing, is to not alienate your core fanbase. Which, I do believe, Fableway would never do because I've seen them a couple times. They still do their thing. - Fri, 6 Jun 2008 2:00am

Shit man, are you serious? He pays his own (Pay As You Go) cellphone bill??!?! Well I stand corrected, I guess he does have some ambition after all :) But wait a minute... if making money from music is such a crime against punkhumanity, wouldn't paying money for a cellphone be the same, if not worse?

For that matter, shouldn't Doctors, Lawyers and Tradespeople all be working for free to avoid selling out as well? I mean, most of the Journeymen carpenters I know are making $30 an hour and they've only been doing it for a few years. I've been playing bass for 14 years! SELLOUTS! - Fri, 6 Jun 2008 9:33am

i'm surprised no one brought Lust up in the sellimg out category, they've been on a steady decline since march becoming a half serious mostly cover band as of late. I'm glad i'm not there anymore because if what they are doing(taking peoples money for their CD,Van etc. and then not paying them back)then i'm glad i haven't sold out. I mean they even sold me out because i wasn't agreeing with being in a cover band. - Mon, 22 Sep 2008 6:29pm

Hey Cody... why don't you shut the hell up you pathetic whinny bitch. Lust has not sold out and getting your punk ass kicked out of the band does not entitle you to accuse them of selling out. So get the fuck over it. Maybe if you stopped for a second and took those donkey balls out of your mouth you would realize that maybe it's time for you to grow the fuck up instead of feeding some onesided bullshit vendetta. - Thu, 23 Oct 2008 10:05am
