For the longest time I wondered why all my friends (none of which listen to metal) liked me, now I know that it's because I suck and am an unpleasant person. I would suggest that instead of just spelling "intelligent" properly, you take the time to open the dictionary and look at it's definition. Ask me to write a mission statement and then I'll take the time to at least proof read it once, but you'd better be paying me at least 25$ an hour or it just isn't worth my time. Paul Simon does indeed rock, Graceland was a musical masterpiece, a tapestry of many different flavors with an overall well unified sound. (the live concert was even better.) I am not here to argue that you do not like Heavy music, this point is opinion and therefore as good as fact, I am mainly interested in the fact that you claim judgement of others based on a single minor shared taste which is as close to being racist as you can get without actually hitting the nail on the head. Music is designed to move people. What moves people? What moves people is music that somehow creates a pleasant emotional response, be that conscious or subconscious. I agree that you don't like what heavy music invokes or more likely do not invoke in you. Then take this fact when saying metal is overall less popular than other forms of music.. Europe holds some of THE biggest festivals for metal every year. SOme fests draw literally 100's of thousands of fans. Fests like this take place all year long in Europe. Then take this fact: Ozfest is one of the biggest grossing festivals in North America EVER. Year after year. Then take this fact: Milwuakee metal Fest draws 10's of thousands of fans Year After Year , I think 8 years in a row now. Now tack on every other popular American metal festival , New England Metal and Hardcore Fest, Maryland Death Fest, ProgPower USA sold out in just six days, four months in advance of the show. Tickets were sold to 36 States and 18 countries as far away as Japan. Anyhow I could go on but Im too dimwitted to continue, so Ill close in saying this.. just because metal isnt all over MuchMusic or MTV or your piece of shit Extreme or similar radio station, doesnt mean it isnt an extremely popular form of music. The metal community takes pride in having a very strong audience of dedicated fans who maintain the world metal scene without the mainstream holdings of pop and rap music. Its a fact that male metalheads spend more money per capita on merchandise than in any other form of music on the planet. Metal popularity is growing at a faster rate in this decade than it has in 3 decades previous.
