My favorite sushi place is across the street from Streetlink. So tonight after a tempura pit stop I witnessed a woman tweaking out real bad on her way there.
The thing that was differant about this woman, was that she was more further along than Dumpstermesh.

Now I know we have all had a hate on for the tweakers for awhile, but this woman needed to be in the Eric Martin, not at streetlink. She needs to be on meds not meth.
I wonder if it's more than a coincidence that ever since Riverdale shut it's doors that this shopping cart culture seemed to appear.

We have to get these people the mental health care they need because when I'm in my fifties, her kid will be a teenager, and that is a frightening thought. - Mon, 30 Jul 2007 12:41am Edited: Mon, 30 Jul 2007 12:42am

AHHHHHH LOL....

Just to clear any confusion, Trev meant further along in pregnancy, not tweekerness. Even when I first read that I thought I was being called a tweeker. Whew....glad I cleared that up. Time for another fudgecicle salad. - Mon, 30 Jul 2007 1:18am

ooo crakkies...
help one you end up help'n them all... i say ship'em to d'arcy island(former leper colony..how fitting) and have a new reality show "Amazing Race... for your next hit". So theres a whole bunch of hidden crack on that island and have them crakkies duke it out until theres only 1 left. And that 1 gets the island alll to themselves(and we're 99%rid of crack heads). With no boat and absolutely no way of escape(but, shit, at least they have their own island... with hidden crack all over it)

rehab/crackie issue in victoria = 0% and lowering - Mon, 30 Jul 2007 1:21pm

if she went to EMI..they'd clean her up, set her up with a pension, and she could then have X amount of dollars every couple of weeks to buy more drugs. :).

well i guess it is better..because some people DO quit. Yes. It's true..some people do quit...... - Mon, 30 Jul 2007 4:53pm

I was thinking if she was in EMI, they wouldn't have to clean her up, she'd be on her meds, eating well, recieving pre-natal care, and on a list for an assisted living home.
The chances are very high that if this pregnancey comes to term, we as a society will have to deal with her child, which is fine, until it grows into a phsycotic teenager. - Tue, 31 Jul 2007 7:55am

EMP isn't a rehab. Just because you're a tweaker dosen't mean you have mental health issues. - Tue, 31 Jul 2007 3:02pm

I work at a group home where I deal with "her" children. Not pretty and sadly, not their choice why they are the way they are.

dumpstermesh, fudgecicle salad is just too funny. My girl is all about Creamcicles... but in a salad... I think you have intrigued her! haha - Tue, 31 Jul 2007 6:43pm

There's this woman who used to stand down on Yates just before London Drugs at the intersection.

She held up a sign that said "homeless and pregnant". - Wed, 1 Aug 2007 9:08am

I think most people who are far enough along on crack would propably rather be dead anyway. There is a psychosis that develops after chronic use. But I guess it's like the chicken and the egg mystery. Gotta be on the edge of crazy to start up that shit. And once you do you'll be crazy anyway. Crack has no mercy. It takes it's victims by surprise and takes them down fast. People joke, "crack wore", and all that shit but I have spent a fair bit of time around the courthouse (for work!!!) and there is a women's shelter across the street where many of these sad and lonely women end up sometimes, when they are lucky. And really I can only feel sadness for them and I can feel thankful that so far no one I love has been there yet. - Tue, 7 Aug 2007 4:24am

Crack's passé now. Meth's taken it's place since it's cheaper. Majority of tweakers downtown aren't crackheads. - Tue, 7 Aug 2007 8:26am

i work with ppl over 50 who do all kinds of drugs and lemme tell ya they are just as unerving as the younger ppl out there doing the same thing but more so, because they are older you would think that after the years of abuse to their bodys and countless trips to hospital and or jail they would smarten up ...but they dont ,lol i seriously cannot believe the things that these ppl are willing to do to themselves just to survive their habits, its sad to see pics of their younger days and see their transformation into what they are now, it sucks when you see their small amount of possessions being either thrown out or given away because they have nobody to claim them ,some are always just on the verge of death yet they still punish their bodies with their addictions at least the younger ones have some time to help try and smarten up wheras the older ones are out of time - Fri, 10 Aug 2007 1:49pm

I realize EMI isn't a rehab.

I didn't make the story clear. This woman wasn't just a regular tweaker, she had obvious mental health issues. Which I believe made her vulnerable to becoming a tweaker.
So what I am trying to say is, if we took better care of our mental health patients we would not have as bad a problem.

We are a rich country, I think we can do better at caring for our weak and vulnerable. - Thu, 16 Aug 2007 2:08am

It hasn't been EMI for over a decade now. Would love to know how you differentiate between tweaker behavior and mental health issue behavior, as there's a very fine line between the 2.

Irrigardless of the wealth of a country, one needs to want the assistance to straighten their life out. If you don't want it, it's just throwing away cash.

Don't get me wrong, I do feel sorry for those who get dumped on the street from mental health institution bed closures. But I doubt the woman in question has issues more than what she created, namely drug abuse.

You've also got to realise that some people end up like this due to advocacy. Yes folks there are advocates that work with those that are psychologically unbalanced, and make them aware of all their rights. One of those rights is to refuse treatment and medication. - Fri, 17 Aug 2007 7:40pm Edited: Fri, 17 Aug 2007 8:08pm
