| Jeff from The Perish User Info... | wow, glad to see people are still interested. The Perish is still alive. I had serious health problems for a while but I'm back on my feet now. The Perish is prepairing to rent the Save On Foods Memorial Center for our next attack on the world. Christine quit playing music, so we are currently auditioning bass players. Anyone interested in a contract position please email. Wait till' you see the storm we bring this time. It will be bigger than the Seatle Explosion ! Every band in Victoria will be huge because of this new brewing storm. Hopefull this time the other bands that had trouble riding the wave before, will this time be able to jump on board. Maybe they will see that trying to stop us, was working against themselves. We had tons of fun doing Alien Rock Theatre. Although there were problems, we did the whole thing ourselves and are proud of it. We only did it for a showcase and photos. That's what people didn't understand. We were completely successfull. We got a 2 year licencing deal with Delinquent Records, We were offered distributing in Germany, Switzerland, and Sweden. We have had numerous other offers and have been working the underground in the business lately. We have been cataloged by Universal Music and I have deals lined up for the new material we're preping. Lets see if we can do now, what should have happened a few years ago if it weren't for my health. I propose to Victoria, that if you follow this new sound wave that will penitrate the entire music industy..... and work with me, not against me.... I will take you all where I want to go. The Deep Space of Rock and Roll ! I need a bass player right now. must be able to tour in the near future. Must be able to rehease at 10:00 a.m. four days a week. I know you deserve those rates, with your experience and connections et al, you deserve it (didn't you just get back from being on Snoop Dogg's tour?) - and of course time away from your kiddo is priceless! I'm not going to comment on the actual show because I wasn't there, but one thing I have to say is that my experience with the guys from the Perish was that they were extremely supportive of other musicians and the scene in Victoria. They are not in any way associated with Universal that I know for a fact. As for my comment re SOFMC...well I know how much and how involved the rentals are there, you're looking at around 20,000 bux a night for the rental alone, no promo no nothing. MY offer of playing was a legit one, if you knew anything you would know that $500 a day to tour with a band that is set to take over the world is actually on the lower end of things pay wise. Committed to this website, sure I am, I think its one of the better things to happen to Vics scene in well... forever. WE live in a society that gives us a right of free speech, I will ALWAYS use that right. In fact, I have made numerous LEGIT offers to book a show for the Perish as I was one of the Handful of people that saw their Royal show, theatre like that don't come along very often, but thats all it was, theatre. Don't go gettin your undies in a knot cause people are slaggin your new band...I suggest you look further into some of the comments Jeff made, alls fair in love war and rock n roll. I'm sure you are all nice people, with the same dreams as all the rest of us.....remember The perish set the tone with their outlandish claims that we all know were really the dillusional fantasies of someone who pulled a half decent crop or two and had some money to throw away. I also notice the same doubters that doubted the royal theater show, and made phone calls and emails to " check up " so they could be the one with the scoop.... We're Sooo..... convinced there was no royal theater show comming. Why call me dilusional when I come through ? and yes I have direct contact with the PRESIDENT of universal music and we are in their catalog thanks to Delinquent Records. I am working a new deal with them right now though, so no worries. Why don't you ask the president of Delinquent if he knows me and if he signed me. The answer is yes, and I even did some voice overs for him too for TV. I was actually very gratefull as he kept us up on the site way.... after the deal ended. Delinquent Records is my home base. People here will tell you we were on delinquent, because everyone checked to see after we got signed. What anyone believes is not important. and the battle of the bands was our idea to help all the other bands that were whining at the time. After Christine was continuesly treated like shit by other bands and people, she really didn't feel like going through with it. THat's all. cut and Dry. Victoria bands that were being stupid killed that project for all. Too bad, would have been fun. And yes, universal knows me well. Sorry to dissapoint you. I have been playing live shows for 17 years now. Long enough to be tired of it, and we get enough legit offers that we don't need to hit the local bar sceen. I just got back from playing on cruise ships. Great fun and good cash ! Besides, everyone keeps forgetting tha we do rock theater shows and they just can't be done in a bar. However, to satisfy the humans in the victoria area, we will consider playing a regular bar show. The contract must be signed by a professional promotion company or the facility owner, and the $500.00 cash up front. We can't do it until after April 23 as we are very busy. But I have to ask myself why I'd wanna play another gig in front of a bar full of drunken sotts, who don't give a shit about what we play as long as they've already heard it on the radio, 10,000 times, when we can do a gig where anyone who wants to come in, can. Contrary to popular opinion, I don't NEED to play another bar gig. If I chose to play at a different type of venue, why is it any less legitimate than Lucky's Bar?? Then there's the "take the door deal". As I recall a couple of gigs where the band got the "door". The bars were letting people in for free and the guy on the door jacked the cash that was collected. No doubt a large cut went to the bar. I liked the way the Strath used to be all upfront about their deal. The band pays $200 for 200 tickets. The band distributes the tickets for cost, or free, or whatever. Then the bar gets the business at the bar and the management likes the band because they packed the bar and it goes on and on like that until the band sells their $200 worth of tickets for cost plus. But now there's a few third parties who wanna get their fingers in the deal, and that's too many cooks in the kitchen. When the Perish decides to do a gig, we'll let you know where it'll be. Sometime ago someone suggested that the Perish were going to book a large venue and put on a show, and get a bunch of the other Victoria bands involved. Then some wise-ass piped up with positive thought and insisted the Perish was incapable of puting on such a show (with or without the dancing cheese guy). It was then demanded by some local musicians, that the Perish play several local bars to prove to said musicians that we are worthy of booking a large venue - at no cost to anyone but the Perish. Blah blah blah, yadda yadda yadda... Now there's one guy who's offering $500.00 (less the Bar's expences, whatever these expences that the Perish has unduely cost the bar are, I don't know), and some other guy saying we should be doing it for free (if we really CARE about music and being seen by "the masses"). All in all, this brings us back to where we started with booking a large venue - at the Perish's expence (because no one else wants to play anything bigger than Lucky's Bar) - where more people can see the Perish and any other bands who want to play the gig. Said performance is to be a minimum of one hour in length and must be the Full " Alien Rock" theatre experience. An appearence by the legendary cheese is to be considered a part of this performance. The Promoter ( Red Barn productions) is to secure the venue and cover all other costs associated with this event. The promoter holds the right to hire an opener as they see fit. The promoter ( Red Barn Productions) agrees to pay the rate of $500 to "The Perish" on the day of the event prior to their performance. While I have performed many 'bar gigs' in Canada and the USA over the last couple o' decades, my enthusiasm never really wavered for the music (or performance aspect) I, and the groups I was performing with, were and currently are presenting. Any chance to play a gig (bar or otherwise) serves only to build chops and experience (and, I suppose, frustration which seems to be the case for Bruce which is unfortunate). For myself personally, I love to play anywhere I can and that includes all the other unavoidables that come with it (except for maybe the bad burritos from Taco Bell in El Paso - the one right downtown in the market area - do NOT go there!!). I don't hold anyone higher, whether its the guy in his bedroom who jams once a month with his buddies or pros I know....we all have a gift, and some choose to share it. I love playing live, its the biggest kick I get...I play all kinds of shows, quite honestly I've played so many god damn shows in this city I find it hard to get people out to my local shows. I like bars of all kinds whether its the commodore or the cobalt, I've played both and enjoyed both! I like coffeee houses cause people listen...I like all gigs and the day I get jaded is the day that won't ever happen. I'm lucky as fuck, I have the coolest job in Theatre and film that lets me work when I want, I get to tour around the world with crazy musical circuses, and I get to play my original music on my own terms when and where I want. If anything I should praise the gods for this gift not resent it like it ruined my life. We did agree to play, however I was forwarded an request for a full alien rock theatre show..... to be performed in a pub..... for $500.00, and apparently a rock trio, with a few props is not up to the standards of the promoter who put in the request. We cannot pay dancers and have controlled DMX lighting, and two extra actors, and all the props for a full theatre stage, and pay our travel expenses etc. for $500.00 Besides, we are saving our new theatre ideas for the next Alien Rock Theatre. We WILL play a show, at any pub or facility that the promoter wants in Victoria for $500.00, for a 1&1/2 hour set. I had a lincencing deal which is OVER NOW with them, however I am working on a new one with them. Marc is great and has taught me a lot about the biz... I started playing in bars when I was 14, because back then ID wasn't the big issue it is now, and I started playing when I was 5 so I was jammin with the older guys. I came from Ontario and played almost every place out there, even in the sticks. I am NOT trying to make a living at playing gigs right now, I already teach guitar and make $20 an hour with my axe, so get your facts straight before ya speak. And as for what you don't know.... the person who did ask us to play DID put restrictions on us. The email stated that we must perform a full alien rock theatre show, and that a rock trio for $500.00 was not good enough. We said we'd play, and we will even have a few props and maybe a skit in the middle with something involving cheese. We said that, and got no response so..... If anyone wants to put on a show ( hint zappnin ) and see us show up.... lets do it. I teach guitar, licence music, do voice overs, run a successfull distributing business, and make my own hours. I do things like play jazz on cruise ships for fun, and rock theatre shows are what I love most. I don't want to or need to play bar gigs, after I did for 14 years. I was somewhat dissappointed about my band ending, but certainly not pissed. Sometimes things just run their course and if you're smart, you know when to pull the plug on it. That offer was for a full show ala the Royal, I was there and there were no major expenses on your part, I believe your props consisted of a shopping cart, garbage can lids etc.. Your esponse to me was to cry the blues and say there was " No way" you could put on a show with Dancers and all the production for a mere $500....well welcome to the music biz my friend, thats what bands do, basically we all pay to play...shit you should see what it costs to have Snoop on tour for one day! You replied that you would perform as a Rock Trio for $500. I refused, why would I garuntee some unknown, never gigged before local band $500, that would be an insult to not only me as a musician but every other band in town struggling to do their thing. You really just don't get it do you, no one here is hating on you, but your bullshit runs so thick, people are gonna call you on it! Just form a band and play like everyone else, for a guy thats signed, has all the contacts he needs, plays on cruise ships, is a flight instructor but posts on the net at the job center I think you have your hands full right now. Listen dude, regardless of what you though of alien rock theatre...... it cost over $18,000.00 to do, and there is NO way we could or want to do it for $500.00 paying just the dancers would cost that at least. As for the show at logans.... We don't do pub shows. We are just not into them. We only agreed to play because so many people were getting excited about it. We did not agree on costumes, props, sets, dancers and lighting and special effects. We would play in regular clothes, with a 1&1/2 hr. set, and maybe have a skit in the middle. That's what we said we could do for $500.00 and we still will if wanted. We PREFER rock theatre shows and that's what I chose to spend my life doing. Wheather you aprove or not doesn't matter much to me. We ARE going to do a show at the Save on Memorial, and I did have a licencing deal with delinquent records. I really don't care who believ es me. Wasn't someone in here claiming to be waiting to hear back from delinquent records about me ?? why was that reply never posted ? either Marc didn't care to reply to idiots trying to flame Jeff Noyes, or he did reply and it didn't get posted here because it would prove that everything I said and say is 100% true.
