Totally wicked show, I LOVE BANDS WITH STAGE ENERGY!!! It's been months since I have been to thurdays for a show, my only complaint was the vocals...TURN 'EM UP!!! I wish I could afford to go, I used my last $5 for that, and tomorrow I have to pay off my mother's visa because my ticket to Holland is on it :( SO BROKE ASS! - Tue, 3 Sep 2002 3:37am
RAZOR SHOW REVIEWS! FUCK YEAH! im gonna go see the end tomorrow (first day of school, gah).these past few weeks have been kick ass metal wise, what with cephalic carnage, pathos, the end, etc being in town. - Tue, 3 Sep 2002 3:45am

I was really disappointed by the showing for pathos and the end. Makes me question why the fuck a decent band would want to come here.

Awesome show though, and Thursdays really sucks. I had to laugh seeing the cobalt people there watching the show. And man I drank hardly anything last night (like a 40 and a couple beers in like 6 hours) and I think im going to puke in like 15 minutes. Totally uncool. - Tue, 3 Sep 2002 2:10pm

jackass I don't even understand how they approach writing music..it's appears to be totally random and even more totally insane.

Anybody else have a clue? - Tue, 3 Sep 2002 5:39pm

Thursdays does not suck. It is probably the single coolest place I have ever played in my live as far as treatment of the bands goes. The atmosphere is decent and although the PA ain't awesome, it is good enough for most bands since it is a small place. Anyone who slags Thursdays has obviously never played there or has zero experience with any other clubs outside their mama's bedroom.

=)

Where else in Victoria can you put on a show where you get the door, they give you beer and the wait staff are very cool? Despite everything I heard previously, Soundgarden had shitty sound for the show I saw there (the speakers appear to have completely blown during Cephalic Carnage so perhaps this was a one time issue). Soundgarden is a cool spot but a lot more expensive to put on a show at and the sound issue is up in the air. The Cambie had beyond shitty sound and the money setup is fucked there though the bar staff themselves were fairly cool when I played there. Thursdays has the best compromise with location, wicked staff and a decent deal for bands. Losing Thursdays would be a BIG deal for this town, don't take them for granted.

Oh, and the reason why there were not many folks at the Thursday's show was because of the timing. Monday night after a long weekend is not a good time to put on a show and "The End" are hardly a major draw. They did rock at the Gary Oak though. - Thu, 5 Sep 2002 3:53pm

I like soundgarden so stop slagging it ! Anyways I do agree it's harsh having a show after a long weekend , and I couldn't make it for that reason . But that's just how it goes sometimes . - Thu, 5 Sep 2002 5:44pm

I knew putting on the show that doing it the last monday of a long weekend is always a bit risky but HEY thats when they had a spot open on their tour schedual. I thought the turn out was pretty good considering the fact that it was a monday and they had never been here before.

The Garry Oak room show was the first day of school, so alot of the kidlets could't make it out as school had since started, and again I thought the turnout was good. Hell it was better then I expected.

As for the slagging of bars in town. Thursdays is great, they're easy to work with and its an ok location and they will put ANY kid of show on from Death Metal to Bluegrass, and all the "Cliques" still goto respective shows there. Agreed the PA isn't great but they don't really charge much (somtimes anything) for the use of it. I've never been to a show at Soundgarden yet (for shame) due to my not being in town the past month so the only comment I can give is that they seem to care about as much for the local scene as Chris and the Thursdays staff. Which is alot. We're lucky to have places like this. If you think your hard done by move to Kelowna or Kamloops where they have nothing. - Thu, 5 Sep 2002 6:35pm
Anonymous Soungardens sound is excellent. The sound at Cephalic was awesome. The stage sound is really good too according to the bands Ive spoken to who have played there. Also, John the soundman is top-notch, ask any band who has worked with him. Thursdays is ok, but the sound is bad and the room kinda sucks. Also, no lights, no stage, etc , sure they may be candy extras but they are important too. - Fri, 13 Sep 2002 4:01pm
Mr. Hell Sorry folks, but it just ain't a show without good lights and a great PA. Without those two things, it is but a jam. - Mon, 30 Sep 2002 12:23am
