A reading from the book of Mitchell, 9:06

6 And the newest Canuck armies did join the veterans and they ate and drank together. 7 And the combined armies crossed from the border city of Win-dzur and entered the hostile land of the Mishagim. 8 And a bloody battle ensued between the Canucks and the red-coated Mishag armies. 9 And within hours three and seventy Mishag warriors lay dead, with the new chieftain Luongo having slain eleven. 10 And a great feast ensued, with the heads of Mishag sorcerers Tsel-jos and Me'altbi placed on stakes. - Thu, 5 Oct 2006 1:54pm

A reading from the Book of Daniel (no, not that book of Daniel), 11:02

2 And the victorious Canucks paraded merrily into the village of Qol-um-bas, a government center in the Kingdom of Awhiyo. 3 And the head [of goverment] came to meet them at the city gates, and he spake, Hark! Turn ye your backs and return whence you dost come! 4 And the general Vigneault replied, saying, We shalt not return nor surrender. 5 And he said, Thou hast two choices, thou mayest [thyself] surrender, or thou mayest face death. 6 And the head of Qol-um-bas didst hear the words of Vigneault and heed them. 7 And the head gave Vigneault the keys [to the city gates] and the city was at peace.

A reading from the book of Sami, 6:14

14 And the armies crossed a mountainous plain and found themselves atop a snowy plateau. 15 And [the Canucks] did descend into the city below, the great capital city of the land of Qal Ul-rado, a three day's walk [across]. 16 And a trumpet blast signaled their desire to destroy the capital. 17 And several minions of the king Qen-bil came out to meet the advancing [armies]. 18 And the minions were slaughtered instantly. 19 And Qen-bil sent out a greater number of soldiers, and they too were destroyed. 20 And Qen-bil sent his strongest fighters yet, and they too were slain. 21 And Qen-bil surrendered to Vigneault and the Canucks, crying, Mighty is the army of the righteous who hath lain waste to my kingdom!

24 And Vancouver's warriors entered the frigid plain of Min al-Suda. 25 And there they saw many barbarians engaged in idol worship and human sacrifice. 26 And a cry from Vigneault went up and the Canuck armies attacked with great speed. 27 And eight and ninety men were slain before Lem 'Er, the king of Min al-Suda, offered submission. 28 And Vigneault spake to Lem 'Er, and he said, Give me your kingdom. 29 And Lem 'Er agreed, and quiet enveloped the land.

13 And the savages of 'Eid-Mundoun did reach the city walls of Vancouver, crashing the gates at the eastern entrance. 14 And the ruler of the savages, Mek-Tabbish, did proclaim war upon the Canucks. 15 And three and twenty soldiers of 'Eid-Mundoun were slain at the gates, and the invaders attempted entry from the watery north. 16 And there six and twenty attackers fell at the hands of Canuck archers. 17 And Mek-Tabbish did retreat in defeat, returning to the icy fields of 'Eid-Mundoun. 18 And Markus did say to Vigneault, Let us follow these invaders to their home territory, and pursue them until they meet death or surrender. 19 And the Canucks did as Markus said.

Alexander the Great's first visit to Wencouwer, lets hope he doesn't leave werry heppy.

And now, a reading from the Book of Ryan, 12:04

4 And the Canucks returned to their homeland, to take rest after their many conquests. 5 And a messenger came from the capital of the great empire to the south, saying, Behold! The Great White House has sent its troops to conquer Vancouver! 6 And Vigneault spoke to Markus, saying, I have not seen such troops for three years. 7 And Markus told his warriors to tighten their defenses in anticipation of the onslaught. 8 And the attackers arrived by sea, docking at the point of Raub-ertz in the great empire's territory, then crossing into Vancouver over land. 9 And the blowing of a ram's horn signaled the start to the battle. 10 And two shieldsmen, Kevin and Lukash, each slew thirteen men. 11 And the infantrymen Ryan and Josh each slew their first warriors in a very long time. 12 And by midnight the invaders from the great empire's capital had succumbed. 13 And a festival of three days was proclaimed to celebrate the victory.

13 And the savage peoples of the country did travel over the mountains and approached the Vancouver city gates. 14 And one of their fiercest warriors, Q'ariyya, an apostate from the nation of Vancouver, declared war. 15 And Vigneault spoke to Markus, saying, Once more we shall be forced to defend our holy soil. 16 And Markus went into battle with two friends, Jan and Brendan, to defend his land from the predatory invaders. 17 And the attackers unleashed large, long-toothed felines to wreak havoc on the local populace. 18 And these beasts were slain with ease. 19 And by nightfall, six and twenty of the predatory invaders were fallen and they retreated into the wilderness to the north.

Yup, gotta agree.
1.3million seems a little steep for Bulis.
Hopefully he can turn it around. If not, expect a trade.
IMO Matt Cooke is also way overpaid at 1.5million. He could be packaged up in a deal.
Chouinard, I don't know. He wins alot of face-offs, but is that worth 1.1million. I guess that is the price ya pay for poor draft choices over the years.

Sure, it's a unique idea for taking a penalty shot, but a goalie should still be set up for it. I guess Luongo had some jitters from the deflected shot from the previous period that bonked his collarbone. I thought the next Nashville goal was directed off the inside of buddy's skate. Even the penalty shot call was sketchy.

16 And the Canucks traveled over mountainous terrain until they reached the land of Qal Urado. 17 And there Markus stopped and said to his assistant Trevor, Let us see who art the inhabitants here. 18 And as they approached the capital city, a band of fierce warriors confronted them. 19 And Sakh Ikh, the leader of the Qal Uradans, didst say to Markus, Hark! I am born of thine territory in Vancouver, yet I have betrayed my nation. 20 And he said, I then betrayed my new nation of K'ai Bek, and settled in this land of Qal Urado. 21 And he said, Now I shall wage war against thee. 22 And Markus replied, saying, We shall not relent. 22 And a great battle ensued, wherein six and forty members of the Qal Uradan army were slain. 23 And Sakh Ikh did retreat to within the walls of his capital. 24 And the Canucks took rest and ate and drank together.

Canucks are playing with three Moose defense tonight against an undefeated Duck team. If they win, the Ducks will enter the record books for longest udefeated start to a season. Brian Burke is back, looking to watch his team break a record.
Many would say the Canucks don't have a prayer.

But OK, here goes:

A reading from the Book of Alexander, 4:27

27 And a flock of nautical birds attacked the Canuck armies in their repose. 28 And the young soldier Alexander took the lead and slew six of the birds with a single swipe of his blade. 29 And Markus said, Come, let us follow young Alexander's lead! 30 And the rest of the Canucks proceeded to slay the fowl. 31 And the Canucks defeated the threat and continued their rest.

Tonight against the Flamers. Nucks still depleted with injuries. Could be rough. Here is a prayer from Jyrki.

reading from the Book of Mattias, 4:19

19 And the Canucks awoke to find that a fire had broken out in the forests of British Columbia. 20 And Vigneault said to Markus, we must stifle these flames before they harm the townspeople. 21 And Markus said to his fellow Canucks, Come, we must extinguish the flames! 22 And the team arose to confront the destructive flames. 23 But Marc stayed back to tend to the ill and wounded. 24 And the Canucks stomped hard on the flames, extinguishing them by dawn. 24 And Brendan said to Markus, Behold! We have eliminated the flames and saved the townspeople. 25 And the Canucks saw their work, and saw that it was good.

Playing a crappy Columbus team tonight(Anson Carter). Canucks are struggling to score and win. Dropped below .500 with the loss last game.
Jesse Shultz gets the call-up. Schultz, 24, has recorded seven goals, seven assists (7-7-14) and 18 penalty minutes in 19 games with the Moose this season. He has recorded goals in the last three Moose games and has five goals in his last five games in Manitoba. Have faith Randy, have faith.
I stole this post from Island Knucklehead off of one of the Canucks chat sites. Pretty much sums it up.

"The way I see it, there are two things that happen tonight.

Scenario 1: Ducks romp us, or rape us, whichever is uglier. They're the class of the league and SHOULD post a win. Pronger mauls the Sedin cycle, Niedermayer mops up the rest and probably scores a goal and a helper. 5-1 Ducks.

Scenario 2: Canucks play their system to perfection, limiting Duck chances to under 10 quality chances, - Thu, 30 Nov 2006 2:27pm

Freaking Bettman. Those three B.S. penalties wouldn't have been penalties 10 years ago. Here is a good read from Merschaum

A dispatch from Hell

Author Message
Meerschaum

Of course, we are waiting for the space shuttle.

I mean, what the Hell else could we possibly be occupying ourselves with alongside the frozen wastes of Lake Bishkek.

Here, in the thin air of the remotest, highest windswept plateau of Central Asia, a throng has gathered. Armed with pick axes, pitchforks, shovels, hacksaws and the occasional old Russian-made firearm, the region’s nomadic tribesfolk crowd around the little-known, highly secretive emergency landing strip. But, trust me, secrets don’t last too long in this tiny former Soviet Republic - whose sole claim to fame was the abolition of all vowels back in the early 90’s. At least not when the secret is a 14 mile long concrete runway with “Prprty f th .S. Gvrnmnt” signs posted every fifteen metres. The crowd jostles nervously to-and-fro, every last man woman and goat trying desperately to ward off hypothermia in the sub-zero dark. Occasionally, a tiny brown donkeyskin-clad man with an old crystal radio set announces “They are unable to land in White Sands New Mexico!” or “The weather at Cold Lake, Alberta still prevents landing!” and a mighty cheer rises up from the crowd of subsistence hunters. Their joy is almost palpable. This motley foul-smelling crew of pre-historic, Islamic bumpkins, who never quite made it to the development of the wheel, are waiting to get a glimpse of the planet’s most advanced and breathtaking technological achievement.

And then . . . each of them is going to try their damnedest to break, cut or gouge off as big a hunk of the spaceship as they can carry . . . and sell it on ebay!

Because, at its heart, this is a nation of looters. Yep, thieves, robbers, brigands, highwaymen, muggers and crooks. All of ‘em! Petty crime is single largest contributor to this pathetic backwater of a nation’s GDP. They’ll steal everything that isn’t nailed down. And if it is nailed down, you can rest assured, some local will be going at it with a crowbar when you turn your back. The kleptomania of these people is fricking mindboggling!!! It’s worse than Charles de Gaulle airport for crying out loud. In the last few days since the government collapsed for the third time in the past three years and I lost my official police escort, I’ve had briefcases, glasses, pens, paper clips, calculators, ties, shoes, underwear and my jeep stolen right out from under my bloody nose – and all this despite the fact that I’m hopelessly wired awake on a high-octane mixture of speed and espresso and armed to my goddamned teeth with Israeli-made sidearms!

I mean, the level of theft in this nutbar republic is so crazed, so rampant and so widespread it was actually at one point studied to death and held up by misty-eyed taxpayer-funded socialist think tanks in the late 80’s as a potential economic model for the perfect Marxist state. Why? Well, ever night every single inhabitant of this moonbat-infested country went out and robbed their neighbour’s house. Of course, when they returned from a hard night’s plundering they would find, to their astonishment, that their own home had been sacked by another untrustworthy local. The result? Well, to the social theorists (several of whom, incidentally, now sit on Canada’s Supreme Court – doesn’t that make you feel warm at night???) this represented a perfect and constant redistribution of society’s wealth on a 24-hour basis. The ultimate socialist utopia – courtesy of complete and total lawlessness and theft!

Of course, all good socialist utopias must ultimately fail in practice. And in this case, it happened in 1989, when an naïve young immigrant from Lithuania arrived in the Tien Shan mountains, and to the complete and total consternation of the locals – proved to be hopelessly honest. The chaos and economic dislocation precipitated by the introduction of a single law-abiding citizen into this nation of thieves was breathtaking in its swiftness. The Lithuanian’s ardent refusal to steal from his neighbours, meant that every night one person’s home was not being robbed blind. Needless to say, this quickly gave rise to economic disparities from one household to the next, as those who should have been robbed by the Lithuanian became wealthier than their neighbors who had not been so lucky. With the introduction of unequal capital formation, the multitude ills of capitalism soon descended upon this tiny nation. Private ownership, absentee landlords, small businesses, Chinese laundries, falafel joints, pharmaceutical manufacturing complexes, drug dealers and corrupt government officials suddenly started springing up. Needless to say, the multi-national mining companies were quick to follow along with their hordes of expatriate geologists, engineers, accountants and . . . this is where I come in . . . shifty, exploitive beady-eyed, lawyers.

Let me tell you, the last couple of months, bouncing back-and-forth from this hell hole to a variety of equally avoidable South American backwaters and airport hotels, has not been kind to your faithful correspondent. I’ve experienced kidnapping, illegal strikes, roadside blockades, hostile take-over bids, Mongolian nationalization of copper mines, threatened international arbitrations, a 500,000 tonne pit wall collapse, caffeine abuse, a firefight in a Tibetan bordello populated entirely by former cast members of the Cirque de Soleil, the bringing to its knees of the worlds largest gold producer, brain-dead mulleted Avs fans proclaiming John Lilles as the certain Norris trophy winner, the collapse of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and now the cancellation of the last goddamned flight out of this frigid mountainous wasteland of larceny. In other words, I’m considerably more pissed at the injustice of the Universe than usual!!!

Then to top it off, there was a deep, personal tragedy in my life. Yes. Sadly, the man who had been like a father to me, the loveable guy who turned my life of petty-crime around and gave me my one big shot professionally. A kind, decent, God-fearing, visionary leader. A saint-among-men - who was instrumental in forming my views on social justice, economics and the proper treatment of journalists sadly passed away.

Generalissimo Augusto Pinochet. I’ll miss ya, big guy! Sad

You were the first authoritarian dictator I ever worked for. And the best . . . I can only hope that somewhere up in Heaven, you are mercilessly attaching electrodes to Che Guevera’s testicles and demanding that he name the names of his leftist collaborators! Sniff.

Excuse me for a moment, while I shed a tear or two. I’m always overcome by emotion at times like these . . .

Still, the various personal and professional disasters I’ve experienced over the past few months haven’t been entirely without a silver lining. I’ve learned a lot about myself in this weird, bewildering process. I’ve learned a lot about my personal strengths, my weaknesses, my beliefs, my foibles, my flaws and just how long I can remain chained up in a closet in an unnamed suburb of Quito, Equador without food or water. But principally, what I’ve learned is that my Israeli-made Double Eagles, for all of their cherished stopping power, are simply too damned prone to jamming. In 2007, I’m finally switching to 9 mm’s.

Now, over the past few months as I jetted back and forth between Latin America and the technologically backward former Soviet state in which I am currently trapped, I’ve gotten very little news from home – other than a few brief conversations with my ex-wives in which they steadfastly refused to pony up my ransom money. So I’ve been relying entirely upon those always 100% accurate reports from the Canadian Press that I can access from time-to-time on my blackberry. Now, from what I understand, while I’ve been away, formerly scenic Vancouver has been struck with a calamitous number of shocking natural disasters – including typhoons, blizzards, tornadoes, waterspouts and a syphilis pandemic – all of which were precipitated by the radically increased global warming that was entirely caused by the brief ten-month reign of the Harper Government. These disasters have left all of British Columbia’s residents without power, clean drinking water, food or access to sufficient financial services to pay a ransom. All government offices have been closed, the homeless are dying in droves because they can’t work out on the Grouse Grind due to dangerous tree falls, cannibalism is rampant and fiendish multi-national forestry companies are taking advantage of the chaos to strip down all of the trees from Stanley Park. Sigh. Damn, I wish I had been there to negotiate those clear-cutting rights.

Still, the press says that Celine Dion, who was apparently recently elected Prime minister of Canada by the members of the Liberal Party, will set all things right in Western Canada - once she returns from her inaugural state visit to her native France.

Yet despite these near-unbelievable calamities, all of the doubtless 100% accurate press reports I have been reading stress that two astounding facts have emerged from these trying times. Firstly, how polite and civilized Vancouverites continue to behave as their multi-cultural paradise spirals into complete anarchy and third-world squalor caused by a callous Conservative federal government. It's really weird. All of the press reports take great pains to mention that, unlike the situation last year in New Orleans, there has evidently been a complete absence of looting in Vancouver. Secondly, the press always seems to mention that the Canucks lack scoring. And evidently, this is somehow the fault of Roberto Luongo.

I’m sorry. Maybe, I’ve been smoking too much Central Asian hashish in the last few days, but since when has an NHL goaltender been expected to lead his team in scoring??? The criticisms just don’t seem to make any sense from over on this side of the globe.

You know. I’m thinking maybe the two stories are linked. Maybe as we consider the mediocre performance of the Canucks so far this season, fans should take a good hard look in the mirror. Maybe the fault lies not with our team or our goaltender. But, with ourselves as fans.

Fans who haven’t learned the lessons of the Kyrgyz and the Tazjiki.

Fans who don’t loot.

Yep.

What I’m suggesting is that the ‘Nucks .500 record is entirely due to the failure of Vancouver’s inhabitants to rob local convenience stores during black-outs.

Think about it.

You’re Markus Naslund, in your familiar position along the half-boards during a power play. There’s a mad scramble in front of the net as the defensemen are cross-checking Jan Bulis into a bloody pulp. The goalie’s badly out of position and the puck squirts free to you. Open net. Easy wrister to pot. But, waitasecond!!! Why even bother? I mean, what’s the downside if you don’t score? You’ll still draw your paycheck. AV isn’t gonna bench a $6 million salary. And the fans? The fans? Heck, they won’t do anything! I mean, c’mon . . . THEY DON’T EVEN LOOT DURING A BROWNOUT!!!

See, the city has created a classic free rider problem among it’s hockey club. If they don’t perform, there’s no palpable negative consequences.

But, if the populace was . . . more prone to looting . You’d could bet your bottom dollar, the squad would be potting more goals. After all, if they didn’t – after each game they’d probably find their cars smashed in and their CD players gone in the GM Place parking garage.

The secret of Montreal’s success this year? Clearly, their uppity, volatile French-Canadian fan base. Drop a few games and they’ll be smashing windows and overturning minivans on Rene Levesque Boulevard and demanding recognition as a nation.

Consider the New Orleans Saints. They saw just how prone to random smash-and-grabs their fans were during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. The result? You’re damned right they’re gonna make the playoffs this season. They don’t want to see a repeat of that sort of mass-sacking and despoilation of their Garden Quarter homes again!!!

But in Vancouver? Big problem. Folks in this burg will hardly stir from their vanilla-infused low fat lattes to smash in the storefront window of a Robson Street boutique no matter how enticing the opportunity or how strained the police presence.

By contrast, consider the Central Asian rabble I now find myself surrounded by. Here amid the snow-capped peaks of the worlds highest mountain range, they certainly don’t have the same sort of professional sports leagues we have back home. (In large part, because these morons haven’t invented the ball yet.) But they do have one widespread recreational pursuit – well, other than breaking and entering – befitting of their proud nomadic heritage.

These boys are crack shots with a bow and arrow.

I’m not kidding. It’s amazing. These guys can pick off the local white-furred snow-bats from the back of a mountain llama in full gallop from a distance of at least 800 yards.

And when you ask them how they pull it off? They say, “Well, if I miss that shot I can pretty much guarantee that the local kids will torch my garage and steal all my hubcaps.”

You know, we as ‘Nucks fans could learn a lot from the simple, home-spun ethos of this down-to-earth nation of cattle rustlers, privateers and grave-robbers.

So next time you’re at GM place and Burrows looks like he’s gonna blow an opportune scoring chance, try screaming at him “BLOW THIS ONE, LITTLE MAN! AND I’M SETTING FIRE TO LE CHATEAU!!!”

I’m sure that little added incentive will help put the puck past Kipprusoff.

Well, with that I’m going back out into the 40-below elements to await the glint of the passing space shuttle. I’m assuming that the Bush Administration won’t be stupid enough to let this ungainly mob of third-world poachers and shoplifters cannibalize the crown jewel of Nasa’s orbiter fleet – let alone its crew. So I’m expecting any minute now for a fleet of Apache attack helicopters to come over the snowy mountains from the nearby Kazakh base and launch a pinpoint battery of sidewinder missiles at this crowd of relatively-unarmed goat herders. Assuming I survive the initial strafing run, I might be able to flash a stolen American passport at the pilots (hey, when in Rome . . .) and catch a ride home with them in time for the holidays.

Merry Christmas to all and a happy New Year.

And, remember to never leave anything in your wife’s name.

I'd rather have Allen than Krajicek, but Kraj possibly has more potential. Any way as much as I dislike injuries to any team, Iguana is tied for fourth place with 23 goals, so having him off could allow Vancouver to pull away in the NW.

MONTREAL (CP) - After overcoming a rough night at the hospital, Roberto Luongo turned in a typically stellar performance at the rink.

Retuning to his hometown, Montreal, Luongo made 30 saves to post his third shutout of the season Tuesday as the Vancouver Canucks won their fifth consecutive road game 4-0 over the slumping Canadiens.

Luongo had to spend Monday night in the intensive care unit of a Montreal hospital as a precautionary measure after taking a soft Daniel Sedin wrist shot off the throat in Monday's practice.

Despite getting practically no sleep - because he had to sit up all night, barely eating anything - over the previous 24 hours, Luongo made quick work of all the Canadiens could muster to post his 30th career shutout. - Wed, 17 Jan 2007 12:28am

I will tell you where. Right where the Oilers sit now except with about 10 less points. In fact by this time they would probably be well out of reach for a playoff spot and thinking about next year. The team sucks bad and he's the only thing you got goin for ya. Cheer for a real team you losers!! Yes youve beaten us 3 or 4 of 5 this year but were still tied today with a game in hand and 10 games in a row without our allstar! Getting beat on a regular basis by the likes of Kesler does not make Iggy tough.I'm looking forward to settling this point battle for top spot on the third. Give me a call, we'll get together and watch. I'll bring my extra gloves and we can have grudge matches in between periods, not your periods, the game's periods.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cfjrHD0Dgfg - Wed, 31 Jan 2007 3:19pm Edited: Wed, 31 Jan 2007 3:26pm

Hhmm not sure but the last time I looked 5-3 with an empty-netter isnt exactly a beating. Those 2 points are erased tonight when the Flames beat the lowly Columbus Blue Jackets. ( who cant beat them ) and then we'll be tied still with a game in hand! Now Wesley it wasnt the fight with Bryan Allen ( 6ft4 and 220lbs ) that did his knee in it was the check before the fight on the boards. If you saw that game then you saw weak little Iggy stand in there toe to toe with Allen and not lose that fight. Its not about letting your captain get injured, its about leadership, which he shows a huge amount of. Ya he might only have 10 more points in 15 less games this year than one of the martian twins, but when was the last time one of the swedish sisters got the crowd into a slow game or even laid a decent body-check. Hockey isnt only about scoring goals. Although the Canucks have considerably more on-ice scoring talent than the Flames but dont score too many more goals. Actually in the paper it says that the Flames have actually scored 155 this year to the Canucks 136. So which team is actually worse or shall we say under-acheiving? Heck Marcus scored only his 16th goal last night? Thats bad. Anyways we meet again in the Saddledome on Saturday night and we'll see what happens. Unfortunatly I cant meet with you Ive got a UFC ppv to watch but we'll be talkin. Go Flames!! - Fri, 2 Feb 2007 10:49am

Naslund has 13 points in 9 games and a plus rating.. vs. last year he had twice the goals by years end and was like a -19 or somethin.. Id rather see the cuurent Naslund, the defensive Naslund who sets up the so-so players.. Thats very captain like.. he has put his own rep on the line to be a leader who helps make his teammates better with great plays and back checking. The Flames might have some higher point individual players, but the Canucks have more guys spreading out with the points in general.. personally Im happy with the team this year.. took them a few months to work out the cobwebs of 14 new players and a new coach and. - Fri, 2 Feb 2007 11:29am Edited: Fri, 2 Feb 2007 11:37am

Loving that picture of me!! Ya well Im fightin an uphill battle with all you! I think Id rather have a guy thats makin the kind of money that Marcus makes bagging me 40 or 50 goals a year. Ya a better /- is nice but there is alot of guys on your team that can do the back-checking. He should be scoring like he used to. 3 or 4 years ago they probably had 10 or 15 more points than they have right now and that was with Clouts in net? Come on you guys, Start cheering for a real team that plays with heart and grit everynight instead of slow and pathetic with no fierce fore-checkers ( or good hitters at all )! I guess you only care about the medalists from your favorite team, but I love the Canadian medalists. That of which I am sure their are none of on your team. (Used to have one but he plays in Pheonix now) Anyways Iggy has 5 points in his first 2 games back which is more than I can say for your Captain!! I unfortunatly cannot help but know alot about the Cannots because of where I live. If I could turn a blind eye I would but I cant so I come to messageboards like this one to vent my frustration. Yes that was not the best of weekends but I will take some soilice in the game against Buffalo where they scored late to tie and then we hit the crossbar and post in OT. We should have won that game. (no comment on Columbus). Obviously Calgary needs to stay away from the shootout. Not quite what I had hoped for after makin the games in hand up but no biggie. And yes I am a little dissapointed in they're trade with the Bruins. I like Brad Stuart but I also liked Andy Ferrance. It just adds some more size and toughness to our already kick-ass blueline. Oh just one more thing. If your name was NaslundownsIginla or ThesistersownIginla it would have alot more weight to it than Keslerownsiginla. Just in case your thinkin of someone else Ryan Kesler (whos out for the season) has 16 points and 40 pims? That guy doesnt own shit! Forsberg likely wont come because Philly want draft picks and prospects and Forsberg would essentialy be a rental player that becomes an UFA.. who we cant afford to sign... and we need those picks/prospects for depth. besides he is injured more than he isnt it seems. Morrison is playing his role well this year and now that his hip seems 100% he has really picked it up ( since the early stages of the season when he was still fairly fresh off surgery etc ) Maybe like Mo/Edler 2nd rounder for Forsberg if anything.. Mo is a depth player, but the question always remains as to whether he could be replaced with a guy who performs as well with a smaller paycheck. Just cause Im the only guy who comes in here and defends his team doesnt mean you guys cant harp on another team once in a while. Better team no, better defence no ( look at goals for and against ) better goalie, maybe ya, old Kipper hasnt been playing that sharp lately and after watching that Minnisota game its pretty obvious that with most any other goalie in net ( including Kipper ) you would have gotten fucking SMOKED. The wild skated around your defence relentlessly and Luongo kept you in it time after time. I might remind you that both of our teams are really not that kick ass compared to some of the teams in this league! Give Brad Stuart some time to gel. Heck he might not even turn out to be as good as everyone thought when he was drafted. Hhhmmm I wonder if any of the Canucks high draft picks have not lived up to their potential. Its more like how many? You give props to Lombardi well I will give props to Bieksa. He is a good, tough, good skating and always in position defensman. Ok i gotta admitt it got a bit crazy on CDC with the Bulis hating, but really, what the heck was he thinking?? He rides their player like a damn pony, interferes/holds/tackles/molests thier guy right infront of the refs, GETS AWAY with it, and then accidentally on purpose runs their goalie over on the same shift?? And this type of player is on the ice with under 3 mins left in a one goal game why? And then gets ice time in overtime???? Wow. Im gonna stop my hating on him now, but i gotta say, if i was luongo, id be pushing really hard to have him traded FAST, if we bring that kinda crap into the playoffs were gonna get laughed at. Luongo CAN win us most games, provided we let him do his job and not put him in 6 on 3 positions with 2 mins left in the game. I know were 6-0-1 in the last seven and thats Awesome, but Luongo had us lined up for a gimme 7th straight win and this one player did ruin that for us. - Mon, 26 Feb 2007 8:51am Edited: Mon, 26 Feb 2007 8:51am

Either Bulis needs to go, smarten the fuck up, or be sent down to the minors to learn some maturity. Good thing it's only a year contract with that knob. They gotta bring back the old black with the yellow and orange neck V. Those were bad ass. So it appears we just picked up Brian Smolinsky from Chicago and got Brent Sopel back from LA. Between the 2 of them we gave up 2 second rounders and a 4th rounder. Thats what im hearing from TSN.com and CDC (Message board) No official press release yet that i can find from Nonis or AV, but im getting the same story from numerous sources saying its confirmed. Thoughts on the trade?? Personally i think its a good move, didn't have to give up Too much and gained a solid centre and another tough d-man. More happy about Smolinsky, but Sopel's alright, will be good for the playoffs i think to have another tough - Mon, 26 Feb 2007 5:39pm Edited: Mon, 26 Feb 2007 5:44pm

Marty Turco is a bitch!http://youtube.com/watch?v=HXbte11XANo Darren Dreger - TSN2/26/2007 8:22:24 PMThe Vancouver Canucks jumped the deadline in acquiring former Canuck Brent Sopel from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for a 2nd and 4th round draft pick.In addition Vancouver added veteran centre Bryan Smolinski from the Chicago Blackhawks for a conditional 2nd round pick. The Canucks, considered a cap team were, able to manouver these trades by finally placing injured forward Ryan Kesler on long term injury.Sopel has four goals, 19 assists and is a plus-2 over his 44 games this season. He was drafted by Vancouver in the sixth round of the 1995 entry draft and he was sent to the New York Islanders in 2005 for a conditional draft pick in the 2006 entry draft. Smolinski has played in 62 games this season and scored 14 goals with 23 assists and is a plus-10. He will become an unrestricted free agent on July 1Sopel>Krajicek/Fitzpatrick. Not great, not terrible. IMO,good move to shore up defense, and add some much needed scoring for a long play-off run.Smolinsky give the coach some options with line changes. Maybe he plays with Naslund, maybe he frees up Naslund to play with the twins. Decent moves. I knew Nonis wouldn't sell off the future or trade Morrison for rentals. - Mon, 26 Feb 2007 5:50pm Edited: Mon, 26 Feb 2007 5:54pm

Canucks win tonight. The two B.S.ers get their first points as new Nucks on the gwg. Sopel saves the game with by catching Doan's stick on an open net shot. Cowen gets his first goal and only the third team s.h. goal.Luongo gets an assist. Canucks cling on to first in nw. Calgary better watch out for Colorado down the stretch. I'm concerned about how the Canucks will deal with 6foot7 Boogaard when we see Minnisota. I'll deal with him myself if he does anything to Luongo. He even said himself he wasn't afraid of any retribution from Edmonton tonight. - Fri, 2 Mar 2007 12:25am Edited: Fri, 2 Mar 2007 3:19am

The jerseys featured in those pics aren't real... they're photoshopped by someone on CDC. That being said, I like 'em. The logo is from the Canucks team that played in the old Western Hockey League back in the 50s and 60s. I would imagine they will go back to the stick logo as it is far and away the most popular retro jersey in the nhl in terms of sales, and maybe the whale as a third jersey.

Continue to find ways to win is right Kent. Its sure not like your big guns are; or have done anything lately. Boy if your tough guy Mr Cowen slows up his pace you might have to look to another player in your lineup of stars to score! Thats gonna be tough, but it wont matter cause you have Lui. Even if you guys cant score you'll have him.(been there and done that) One thing I will say is dont get fuckin cocky about bringin home that cup just yet. The playoffs take another level of extreme grit and toughness of which I dont think the Canucks have.(We sure know Naslund doesnt have it) Yes Ive seen teams get to the final with a hot goalie but its a tough long road that Im sure even you die hard canucks fans aren't sure if your team's got every piece of the puzzle in place. I dont think I can pick any team that looks really stoked right now. Maybe Detroit or Buffalo but Nashville and Anaheim and San Jose and Pittsburgh and Ottawa and everyone else all have holes that have to be filled in order to sip from the cup! Yes we have won 2 in a row on the road and I feel like the Flames are kinda just getting a little better right now. Conroy is playing a little better and Iggy seems to be more comfortable with his knee now and Brad Stuart is starting to figure things out a bit with a +5 in his last 2 games. I actually thought you guys would start to pull away from us with the road game woes we encounter but still only 2 pts ahead of us. And we meet again in a few weeks on a Saturday night so maybe we should meet up! Oh Ya and lilmikeyjay or whatever your name is would you prefer if I leave you guys alone in here to rally around your team? If so Im gonna start a CANUCKS SUCK ASS thread and I hope you'll come on in and say a few words! lol - Wed, 7 Mar 2007 3:09pm Edited: Wed, 7 Mar 2007 3:12pm

IF, and it's a big IF, Cowgirly makes it into the play-offs they will have an early exit after losing their four road games. Canucks can score from anywhere. They don't even have a first, second, or third line. They have three scoring lines and a helluva checking line, the best pk, top notch defense and arguably the best goalie, and don't forget aboot Cowan the Brabarian. I'm comfortable with this team going deep. You can start that thread but it will be ignored and buried. - Wed, 7 Mar 2007 3:55pm Edited: Wed, 7 Mar 2007 3:55pm

No seriously though. You do not have 3 scoring lines. In fact every Canucks game I watch these days the lines are all mixed up. Morrison Cowan and loser Cooke together for 3 games? Who's Naslund playin with tonight is the question every game? Calgary has at best 2 scoring lines and we have scored 32 more goals? In fact the Canucks have scored the same amount of goals this year to date as the Flyers and there is only SIX teams in the whole league with less goals! You do not have 3 scoring lines! You have whoever is hot that night and the Sedin sisters and thats it. So if we're 2 points behind you and you say we probably wont make the playoffs then I guess you guys are in jeopardy as well? That seems confusing to me because I will bet my house right now that both the Flames and the Canucks clinch berths in the postseason. Naslund is playing with Smolinski and Bulis. Any mixing of lines is just good coaching getting the most out of their players. Vancouver's new lineup took a couple of months to gel, otherwise they would have more points than Calgary. The reason they are so far ahead of teams with similiar goals for is because of stellar defense and goal tending. I say the flames will get caught by Colorado because of their road record and four games left against the Wild. Budaj is hot, Statsny is making a run for rookie of the year, and they have Burnaby Joe. Watch your mirror Calgary. - Thu, 8 Mar 2007 1:29am Edited: Thu, 8 Mar 2007 1:34am

Alrighty calm down now. Yes I will be cheering for the Canucks tonight but obviously you all dont realize that we dont necessarily need your help because even if Colorado wins, If we beat the Sharks tonight or win any 1 of our final 3 games then we're in. So if the Canucks win then it doesnt matter what we do for the final 3 games but if the Ave's win tonight then we have to win 1 of our final 3. If the Flame's lose tonight and on Saturday when we host Edmonton and the Ave's win tonight and on Saturday, then it will come down to the very final game to be played in the NHL regular season on Sunday evening in Colorado. God lets hope it doesn't come down to that. The division title means nothing as you will all find out in the playoffs. hurts to say but Go Canucks! - Thu, 5 Apr 2007 2:46pm

I have to admit that we will be lucky to win a game or 2 let alone thinking about getting out of this series. But man I sure felt alot better last night watching the anemic offense of the "Kings of the bullshit goals " completely unable to do anything. All year I said that when you got there that the Cannots would feel the physical wrath. LOL Kesler, wow great return for one game. ( Made of Paper much? ) Cooke finally feelin some pain you loser and Burroughs! hahahahahahah where's my stick???? You should never and I mean NEVER have won the first game after that third period. The refs handed that game to the Stars. I hate to say it, but I've never seen anything so blatantly fixed in my life. We even started a "REFS SUCK" chant it was so bad. 1-2 million per play-off game + $209 jerseys = rigged games. The refs are pros, there is no way they could be as bad as they were last night.
That said, I will still be in attendance at most play-off games.

When we suck really bad I dont come in here (and never will) and pull out every crappy excuse in the book. But do I say anything about it? No, thats the way it goes. You didnt lose because of the ref! The Canucks looked fuckin tired ( including Luongo ) and the Stars seemed as though they were playing their first game. They just got outskated and outplayed. Hell even Trevor Linden admitted last night that they couldnt keep up to the pace of the Stars. It was very obvious. And yes it is fantastic Mike to see the biggest loser in the NHL out injued. I dont give a shit if it was knee on knee. With a mouth like his he deserves to hurt for a long time. Actually,, Hank was skating past Turco and Turco stuck his foot outside of the crease, right into the path of Henrik's skate, and then bowled himself over.. Excuses or no, that was a HORRIBLE call and rsulted in a chant fromt he fans I think,,. Nucks won the game anyhow, but fact remains.. BAD CALL and a total theatre act by Turco.

So the excuse thing has never happened I guess eh Mike. What kind of a post is that? You can slag the shit out of my hockey team like the thread is for or you can start gettin personal and slaggin me. Take a good look through this thread and point out all the excuses i came up with this year. Your still lookin for one arnt you?? When we suck, I will admit it. When the Canucks suck ( which is alot more nights than their regular season record indicates ) there are very few posts admitting any type of guilt or errors. Anyways go ahead and come down hard on the Flames and Jarome all you want. ( Kinda funny none of you guys have anything negative to say about any of the Stars but Turco? ) But dont fuckin slag me for hatin your team man. Its all in good ( competitive, fierce, vulgar ) fun in here so lets keep it that way. And yes Trev I would be very happy to see Matt Cooke get in a fight with a guy and take 2 or 3 fists to his face that result in at least a couple of injuries that would force him to sit out a while.( at least 2 swollen eyes that have to come down before he can see properly......LOL back to the laughing!! ) I dont wish for him or anyone to sustain a long-term season ending type of injury: but Cooke out for a month with a punching-bag like melon would rule!! Tell me, what choice did they have? The Canucks had 6 guys on defence including Luongo..

They had no choice but to try and go for the miracle goal. When that didnt happen, they had no choice but to go for two miracle goals. Its happened before and your options are limited at that point. - Tue, 24 Apr 2007 1:40pm

User Info...
Why? What was their choice? They have a hard enough time beating Luongo on a 5 on 3. The Canucks were sensing their victory and had switched to a 100% defensive strategy.

The Stars chance of scoring a goal at even strength at that point, in under 2 minutes, was pretty much ZERO.

Part of the reason Vancouver got that far was because of a VERY strong defensive core, and Luongo.

Dallas had to pull their goalie to get the man advantage and HOPE to tie it up.. Such a move happens ALL THE TIME in the regular season, and often pays off for the attacking team. It is entirely possible that if they could have set up the 6 on 5 that they could have generaed some strong chances. And they were VERY hungry.

Even scoring two goals in that period of time, with an extra shooter, is not unheard of.

They are going to lose anyhow, so what is there to lose? Pull the goalie, maybe a miracle happens. Once the Canucks got the first empty netter, they were really screwed and again their only very very very remote chance of tieing it up was to try and get two goals with the man advantage in under a minute..

Again.. odds of it working are very slim, but is happened before and Dallas options included.. Golf.. or golf.. so what the hey! - Tue, 24 Apr 2007 5:17pm

As far as I know, what's the percentage of win/losses for a team pulling their goalie?!? I always thought that teams lose more then they win. Yes, I remember having this conversation with Garry "Toronto Maple Leafs" Brainless and he said the same thing, they don't have much to lose. I dunno, I should watch more hockey. I'm more than a little concerned that Kevin Bieksa's flu is starting to go around the team.
Canucks desperatly need Salo, and Bieksa back in the lineup. Matt Cooke and Ryan Kessler are greatly missed also.
I think the refs were pretty bad again for both sides, Anahiem was just able to cash in on their opportuinities and Vancouver wasn't.
Naslund and Morrison were invisible once again.
Luongo has to win games for the team until injured players return, otherwise Vancouver can not beat the biggest, most aggresive, defensively gifted team in the NHL. - Wed, 25 Apr 2007 10:58pm

Our Father, who art in GM Place
Hockey be thy name.

Our Father, who art in GM Place
Thy will be done, the cup be won
On ice, as well as in the stands.
Give us this day, our hockey sticks,
And forgive us our penalties,
As we forgive those who cross-check against us,

Lead us not into elimination,
But deliver us to victory.

12 But upon reaching the outskirts of the fortress city of Playoffius, the Canucklehead army disintegrated and fled the battlefield in panic and terror, with little sembelence of order.... - Mon, 7 May 2007 5:25pm Edited: Mon, 7 May 2007 5:27pm

Anyone but the canucks Mikey.

I live in Victoria, not Vancouver.

According to Trevor and his boyfriend's logic I'd guess you'd expect me to become a flames fan or worse yet, a kings fan if Vancouver folded and I was forced to pick a "local" team. Maybe if Trev got the cock out of his mouth and focused on more than just stuffing rodents up his rectum,he'd be able to express himself more clearly.... - Tue, 8 May 2007 8:55pm Edited: Tue, 8 May 2007 8:57pm

Well Well, I know you've been waiting on me gentlemen but this working for a livin thing leaves me no time anymore. Anyways it seems as though you've had your hands full with Roundy-Round; so you probably didnt didnt miss me. lol. First of all where were all the Canuck haters all year when I was the only guy in here slaggin them? Glad to see you all when they are really sucking not just when it was all smoke and mirrors from Luongo all season. I could see right through them all year and I am not the only one knowing that. lol Hey Kent? lol All I will say is you should never have gotten through Dallas and I have never witnessed a team hang their goalie out to dry ( yes the Flames did several games in the postseason ) like your " Team " did in their last game. Man I felt sorry for him and I actually thought he wasnt gonna come back out and play in the third cause he was so pissed. Kind of ironic that he's your saviour and then losses the game for you with his ridiculous arm in the air. That hit was so far from a penalty??? Elbow down, Head down. Not a penalty. Anyways there is always next year or the year after that or the year after that. Wanna trade Bieksa for Lombardi?? Go Flames - Thu, 10 May 2007 12:15pm

I'd take that deal! Hell ya. The Canucks have more than enough depth on the d. Lombardi is an up and coming superstar.
Luongo was late for the start of the period because he had the stomach virus so bad that he had to strip down and stand in front of a fan, and then visit the porceline alter. That would be the same stomach virus that ravaged most of the team.
I would be careful in aligning yourself with Round em Up. She isn't really into hockey so much. She just wants Trevor's attention. Unless of couse you need someone to enjoy gay porn with. ~shuddering~ - Thu, 10 May 2007 1:35pm

Nice beatdown by Hotknife!
I can picture Round em Up whimpering in a corner, fetal position, sucking on his thumb after that abuse.
