wow...so this pretty much fucking crushes 95+% of all extreme music releases to ever come out of this area...demo or not(that I've heard at least). I can't think of a more technical or precise band in western canada right now (if ever?).
This is the type of shit only achievable after spending almost every night for a year at the jamspot crafting your sound(as spence and aaron pretty much did).
Without much luck this demo should easily ensure their next release to be unleashed with the backing of a respectable international DM label...and well deservedly. - Thu, 10 Aug 2006 2:17pm Edited: Thu, 10 Aug 2006 2:19pm

ONCE I SAW THIS ENTIRE BAD BENCH PRESS TEN THOUSAND ELEPHANTS AND THEN ATTEMPT TO CURE WORLD POVERTY. THIS RELEASE REINFORCES THE FACT THAT EVERYONE IN THIS BAND IS A SUPERMAN. NO QUESTIONS. I EXPECT THEM TO WIN THE LEADING FOR THE 2008 DEMOCRATIC CONGRESSIONAL. HANDS DOWN. - Fri, 11 Aug 2006 12:59pm

Oh yeah, i'll buy an album get me one!

Before even reviewing this CD i'd say this is one of the tightests metal bands I have heard that is not signed in a fucking long time. I don't even listen to Tech DM, it's just fascinating watching them play this shit! - Mon, 4 Sep 2006 4:16pm Edited: Mon, 4 Sep 2006 4:19pm

That sounds like what Jeffery Sez was charging for "Fifteen Smiles to the Gal", $15 for a local demo is just a little too much (I paid $8 for it), then again they feel there a better band that everyone likes. - Sat, 21 Oct 2006 9:59pm Edited: Sat, 21 Oct 2006 10:00pm

$10 is not too much. When you consider how much it costs to put that together.

$10 CD-rs are everywhere. There are record labels that are CD-r only that charge $10 per cd. I have at least 10.

Take a look over at Shifty or MH if you don't believe me. - Sun, 22 Oct 2006 1:01pm Edited: Sun, 22 Oct 2006 1:01pm

I think it all depends on the release. If its a full colour booklet with 8-12 pages all printed out nice, I would understand $10. However, there are many bands that sell their real pressed EP CDS for less than $10.

Here's a good example: http://www.redstream.org/

Go here and see prices for cds. Those are full length prices most of the time.

To stay on topic, I'm sure they can justify the price. I haven't seen the release myself so I can't say. But just talking about prices in general. - Mon, 23 Oct 2006 12:27pm

I think it all depends on the person and how much they like the release and how much they can support the artist/label/scene.

No one records an album and thinks, 'I wonder how much money I am going to give away this time?' - Mon, 23 Oct 2006 4:16pm

It depends, are you trying to sell it for profit or go with standard general prices.

I don't care though.. just talking about general prices. I'll stick to my above post. - Mon, 23 Oct 2006 7:05pm

am I the only one who doesn't think this is very good? I am not one of you "I only listen to metal" kind of people or anything but as far as I could tell, they're doing nothing new or interesting, resulting in an average release with lots of technical skill but nothing to draw me into listening more when there is so much great music out there. - Tue, 7 Nov 2006 10:21am

I don't care, $10 is fine. These people aren't trying to make money, they are better than that. The price of this is relative to how much it was to make, welcome to Earth. If it had an 8-10 page book and shit then it would be more than 10 wouldn't it? And then there would be more people bitchin. This album is deserving of it's price tag because of it's awesomeness and how much it costs to make. Top notch band, top notch demo, fair price I say. - Tue, 7 Nov 2006 1:18pm

Tim, its a cdr with a lame cover and somehow that equals 10bucks, were say ummmm lepers new cd isnt a cdr its a fold out booklet(full of colors and lyrics) and its got 32 tracks and they all sound pro execpt the live ones and guess how much they sell it for 10 bucks, sometimes 8 or 4 bucks

even the grey army, there last cd(i havent heard the first) is packaged nicely lyrics in the book, its not a cdr and it sounds fucking good, they sell it for 5bucks

so nothing justifies gremorys 10dollar demo - Wed, 8 Nov 2006 1:42pm Edited: Wed, 8 Nov 2006 1:43pm

jeff, the money went into the recording. not the packaging or cd duplication. when you buy something, you pay for all the elements, not just the visual/physical elements.

however, I also believe $10 is too much to charge for a cd-r demo with only a few tracks. I think they used their money in the wrong ways. Then again, if I were them I'd probably do something really expensive and stupid like getting a low/moderate-priced recording, maybe sort of lo fi if need be, with enough mixing and mastering to suit my tastes but not enough to rack up a huge bill. Then I'd put tons of time and effort into getting a bunch of 7" records pressed, coloured, with hand-screened inserts and stuff. It'd look so fucking sweet. That's something I'd be pretty proud of. And hey, even a 7" should typically be between $4 and $8.

I hear Gremory has plans to spend $10,000 on their next recording venture. Wow. - Thu, 9 Nov 2006 12:09pm

I think the price was made $ 10 because there aren't enough buyers in and around Victoria to make up for the studio and production costs, if it were to be sold at a lower price. ;)

No seriously, I think $ 10 is really not an exorbitant price to pay, especially when the average price is $ 7, if you like a band's music and you want to support them. A few dollars extra, oh boohoo.

And a sensible band would use those couple of extra bucks per demo to invest in gear or future studio costs, to ultimately serve fans. So I think in this case a couple of people posting here are bordering on whininess. - Mon, 18 Dec 2006 4:32pm
