Yesterday my band decided to go to Thetis lake before jamming. We left all our stuff like anyone would in a pile on the beach. When we came back my guitarist, Adam's backpack was gone. It had Adams wallet, clothes and keys in it. We never found it and left for our cars, on the 15 minute walk to the cars we found the backpack emptied, his clothes and all the cards in the wallet (but not the wallet) scattered over the long walk to his car. When we got to the car the trunk was wide open and a door was half open. Inside was Adam's Ipod, his $2000 Ibanez S series Guitar in a hardshell and a 5 string Ibanez Gio Bass. The theif took our bassist, Justin's bass that he owned for 7 years, took the ipod and left the guitar, probably cause it was big with the case. The cops have and will find nothing. The car is fine but someone still has the keys to it.

If anyone sees this bass it is an Ibanez 5-string black bass in a soft gig bag with a big sheeps wool strap. Looks like this http://www.comparestoreprices.co.uk/images/ib/ibanez-gsr205-soundgear-5-string-black.jpg
The ipod is basically gone. Justin has had that for so long so if anyone sees it let me know and also be careful at Thetis. I am pretty pissed off about all of this, if there is one thing that makes me mad, it is a coward f*ckin theif.

Thanks. - Tue, 27 Jun 2006 9:26am Edited: Tue, 27 Jun 2006 9:33am

I'm not the one who figured these out but can you explain some things:

1: how did the person who took the backpack know exactly which car you guys had?

2 (this is the big one): how did you drive home, considering your keys had just been stolen? - Wed, 28 Jun 2006 2:48pm

I don't need to prove anything to you Anonymous, I am trying to get our bassist bass back because we are recording next month and playing shows. If your not going to help stop being a jackass and leave. That backpack was stolen and that bass is gone now. Adams mom drove out spares and I don't know how they found his car. The keys have a GM symbol on them, I'm not sure how. The car was in the overflow parking just off the main road out of Thetis, they must have been lucky as hell to get that but that is the only way out of the lake really. - Wed, 28 Jun 2006 4:41pm

Fuckin Ritez!!!!!!!!!!!Its what i did when I was to embarrassed to admit i had a gambling problem. I had told the missus after losing 500$ rent money, that someone pick - pocketed me and took our money. AFter losing the rent money, on the way home, i emptied my wallet, and threw randomly, pieces of id and what-not throughout my walk home. She didnt believe me. Next day, the RCMP dropped by my house with my drivers liscense that was turned into them. HEHE. Then she believed me, and gave me sympathy sex for not trusting me. When you want to claim that someone busted and took your shit, i hope the car was a newer model and you had keyless entry, or that he had the registration in his wallet so the crooks knew where to find the car, or,,,they looked at the logo of the key, and tried every car that was made by that manufacturer.

I know so many people that get shit ripped off from them that end up winning inthe long wrong because of Insurance.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guys,

This is no damn joke. I am not the damn theif so I don't know how they found the car. You guys are diminishing the effort to get our bassist bass back and Adam's Ipod. A tragic thing has happened here, why are you trying to make things worse with your accusations. Believe me or not, I don't give a fuck. Just if you see this bass, let me know. My band needs to record before our producer is gone for the summer.

Please help instead of being assholes, I expected a lot more out of a group of musicians. - Thu, 29 Jun 2006 12:48pm

What the fuk? the guy got his gear stolen whats the problem...
as far as insurance fraud, it would go like this, Oh and the bass was in your car because you were at band practice, ah you use it in a band, sorry if you read the fine print that voids your policy...
Dude if he even had insurance unless he was some doctor who had his Larrivee stolen in a house break in, INSTRUMENTS ARE NOT COVERED BY HOME INSURANCE!@!!!

I'm sorry you lost some gear. That sucks.

People will kick you when you're down. The same people will try and shit on you when you're doing well. Go figure. I think these folks must be the same ones that sit around all day developing computer viruses. A very rich and rewarding life I'm sure. They also make good friends.

It's a strange world we live in. Maybe it's always been this way.

Good luck. - Thu, 29 Jun 2006 4:11pm

"INSTRUMENTS ARE NOT COVERED BY HOME INSURANCE!"

Hey S, my home insurance covered non-business stuff stolen from my care *no matter where it was*.

But: "I'm not a professional musician - I have a real job."

Never got stuff stolen though, knock on wood. It doesn't sound like fun and apparently, you'll get mocked on the world wide web. - Fri, 30 Jun 2006 12:54am

Dear Michael Holmes. Based on your above comment I conclude that you are about 80-85 yrs. old. You were a practicing psychologist in the 1940's,50's and 60's when it was common 'knowledge' that homosexuality was deviant behaviour. I hope you are enjoying your retirement.

Also I would like to point out that in your 'Freudian' User Info photo it appears that your dildo is on fire. Please for your own safety use only CSA approved electrical products. - Fri, 30 Jun 2006 9:40am

Bones your penchant for posting on Livevic in the daytime hours and your need for pirated software had lead me to the conclussion that you are either a zit faced 17 year old punk or an incontinent retiree living off a pension. - Fri, 30 Jun 2006 7:08pm

Hey man, really sorry to hear bout the gear! I know for me my instruments are extremely valuable and would be deviasted to have some shithead rip em off.
Im curious though, does your friend have keyless entry? was there a lot of vehicles in the parking lot? 7 out of 10 thefts are by someone you know, did you see anyone at the lake that you knew that maybe knew what car you drove? Victoria is a REALLY small town and thetis lake isnt exactly a meth head hotspot or easy to walk to so the thief most likely drove there, probably not alone...
