Actually, I'll honk over any of these infractions.) - AS SOON AS you've driven through an intersection, fuzznuts in front you IMMEDIATELY stops to let a car enter traffic from a parking lot. Talk about a recipe for rear-enders. I'm always going "yikes" as I look in my rear-view mirror at the approaching car behind me - still not all the way through the fucking intersection sometimes! (Going southbound down Shelbourne, past Hillside - that parking lot for the medical building - not a cool place.) -and speaking of Shelbourne, when traffic's tight and there's no room to change lanes, Mr./Mrs. Oblivious/Chickenshit/Raisin decides to travel at 30k the WHOLE FUCKING WAY instead of using the incredibly BASIC balls/judgement to quickly nip around a cyclist. And if we were on a system like they have in some European countries where tipping is not a custom, you'd be paying about twice as much for that meal because the servers are being paid well. It is a profession that takes skill like any other. And guess what people DO tip gas attendants (if he/she provided a service like checking oil etc..), and some clerks (private liquor stores), so get off your high horse and open your eyes. Where i lose touch with "servers" is completely on tipping. You make it sound like such a hardship when someone doesn't tip(doesn't that send a message also to the service?). Im not trying to say your in-adequite at your job or anything like that, so dont get all huffy with me. As for the tipping out to the kitchen, if it weren't for the kitchen you wouldn't have a job serving, so they deserve every penny just as much as you guys out front, no matter the expense. Also to further the tipping issue, your not taxed for that money... so really its not part of your annual pay cheque, ie)its a freebie, . If i got 10$ a day in tips on top of being paid my regular wage, id be extatic. I think in our north american ways, we lose sight of what gratuity really means. | dumpstermesh User Info... | Hi J, I wasn't complaining about tipping out the kitchen or the rest of the staff I just thought he should know how the restaurant industry works if he is going to continue to eat out. I over tip all of my support staff everyday because I beleive they deserve it. Also, just so you know, I do claim my tips. I have extra tax taken off each paycheck to accommodate for the tips. If I didn't I would be asking for an audit; and I need my income to be accurate so I can qualify for a mortgage on a house some day or a loan. Like I said it's a profession. If I went to a clothing store, got to sit somewhere comfortable, and was shown outfits in my size after looking at a catalogue I would tip that person. After all they just made my expereince so much more pleasurable. Also if you think that your food somewhere was great and your drinks were good but your server was rude - don't tip. Always tip the good ones though...unless you want to start being served by completely untrained people who don't care if your fork just fell off the table or can't get your order right. I know alot of people in that industry that dont(though the tips they made wont set off any alarms for audit). as for the clothing store, i work in a racquet sport specialty store and we do a hellovalot of clothing and I do pull out my catalogues online and material for any customer at anytime if need be... I would love if every customer came in had the same attitude as you :P anyhow, i just hear it all the time about servers vs. customers and the views on tipping in general. to me good service deserves its rewards(i always tip 10% on subpar-average service, and usually 30% for good-excpetional service... i just dont like it when servers actually complain about their tip to my face... it happened at D'arcy's pub when i orderd a beer and it was 4.25 and i gave him 6 and said that's ok... he came back to me and asked me "you expect service on the kind of tip you left me?" in front of the whole patio, needless to say i threw him a 20 and said looks like you need it more than me you fucking asshole.) - Thu, 14 Sep 2006 2:19pm | ||

I have a regular who comes in for his pint of Canadian a few times a day and some times it's a .10 tip and sometimes it's a $2.00 tip.
