Yeah yeah yeah I know this has been out for a long time and there's probably been more than one thread about this FUCKING KILLER album - so fuckin' sue me.

Complete awesomness. Fantastic, squirrel-flattening brutality. Mr. Rutan is so COMPLETELY indebted to the great Robert Fripp, particularly on the title track, and Derek is............wow............just.........wow. - Thu, 2 Mar 2006 8:26am

Erik Rutans work on Ripping Corpse "Dreaming With The Dead" > his work on Hate Eternal "I, Monarch" (but by no means is it a bad album) - Thu, 2 Mar 2006 4:09pm

Great album. Great band live as well (Hey wait a minute, weren't we some of the only Victorians at that show?!) Their song structure isn't the most complex, but they just seem to have this catchy, "thunderous legion" feel to their brutality. I dig it. - Thu, 9 Mar 2006 12:02am

Yes I believe we were the only Victorians there. And also some crummy guitarist from......I think it's Gremory - not sure.

There were also keeners side stage at the red room that night, were there not Curmudgeon? That drummer was inspiring in so many ways.. what a great night!
They're coming back, but to the CCC so the view won't be quite as perfect. wouldn't miss it, but ugh, this one'll be packed with kidlets. - Sat, 11 Mar 2006 12:59pm Edited: Sat, 11 Mar 2006 1:00pm

lol his little 'suicide note' was kind of lame. wah I only got $600 in royalty cheques for this year on one of my albums. the money is made touring, tough shit if your 'agent' sucks balls. if you expect to make a living on music play something that'll make it on the radio. otherwise don't fucking renounce 10 years of lifestyle because you're sick of being broke. its like these guys can't remember when doing it for music was enough. - Sun, 2 Apr 2006 7:59pm Edited: Sun, 2 Apr 2006 8:02pm

Ah, probably got sick of the lifestyle. True enough, don't expect to get rich playing underground music (that's part of what makes it underground.) I can understand it though, you bust your balls all the time to break even. Some people are willing to do it, some aren't, whatever.

Fuck I didn't even know about them opening for Arch Enemy/Chiamera show because as soon as I heard those names I stopped paying attention. Still, they'll probably be able to play for what, a 1/2-hour? Fuck that, they deserve to headline just like last time. I heard Kevin Talley's up on the list though, that would be fucking KILLER... - Wed, 12 Apr 2006 9:16pm Edited: Wed, 12 Apr 2006 9:27pm

I'd honestly lost near all enthusiasm for attending cuz of him leaving, (don't like GF and the other bands just never interested me) but I ended up going cuz of other reasons. What bugged me though was that HE wasn't supposed to open, but they switched lineup. We found out the day of, but most didn't and missed them. So as a result the beer garden was pretty full through most of the show. Woohoo, 2 beer! and fun hanging out with everyone..

KT was in fact drumming and (maybe taking into account my lowered expectations), I can say I was fairly pleased. I just like the music and couldn't fault his playing. didn't seem near as intense as last time though. And it seemed pretty short.. I missed some of the start, but someone said they only played 1/2 dozen songs anyway. Met one of the other guys afterwards cuz he came up asking a friend about his Zuckuss shirt. Seemed like a good guy! - Fri, 14 Apr 2006 3:08pm Edited: Fri, 14 Apr 2006 3:14pm

And re DR's explanation for leaving.. its easier to be idealistic about staying true etc when you're 20 (and still have some access to your parent's good shit!). Struggles just aren't as much of a struggle. He's not that young anymore. He was honest and the way he put it was totally fair, he didn't seem bitter or angry about it, just realistic. I think it sucks that people dis him over a very personal decision. Everyone's got different circumstances to deal with. - Fri, 14 Apr 2006 3:17pm Edited: Fri, 14 Apr 2006 3:18pm
