I am the former keyboardist/backup vocalist for White Chocolate Conspiracy, a local funk/rock band which formed in 1998 and played together until 2001. We played gigs at Steamers, the Blues House, Thursdays, the Cambie, Felicitas, and some private parties and charitable events. In the end we parted ways to pursue different musical and personal interests.

I would say that my level of skill would be vocal - pro; keyboards - semi-pro; songwriting - talented amature.

I have listened to and played many different styles of music over the years, including classical, jazz, rock, singer-songwriter, world music, funk, pop, hip-hop, r&b, electronica, folk, indie, emo and more. Some of the artists I keep coming back to are The Arcade Fire, Iron and Wine, Emiliana Torrini, The Dears, Bjork, Boards of Canada, Wolf Parade, The Be Good Tanyas, Death Cab For Cutie, Broken Social Scene, Soul Coughing, Radiohead, Pinback, Mouse on Mars, Joni Mitchell, Depeche Mode, Hawksley Workman, Beck, The Postal Service, Pedro the Lion, Stina Nordenstam, The Shins, Bob Dylan, Lamb, The Autumns, Miles Davis, Dave Matthews, Modest Mouse, Interpol... that's probably enough to give you an idea.

I miss playing music because I always found it cathartic. For me, music is something like a spiritual calling - not because I'm somehow special or better, but because I've learned that music has to be a part of my life in order for me to feel sane and healthy and whole. If I could find a few mature, positive, creative, intuitive and compassionate people to play music with I'd be the happiest person in the world.

I want to make music that is raw, powerful and true, whether we play loud or soft, fast or slow. I love all kinds of sound; drums, bass, guitar, keyboard, electronics (LOVE them), strings, brass, winds, crinkling paper, crunching gravel, falling water... I'm willing to go beyond weird to bring back something authentic, unique and beautiful. Want to come?

(PS - I *promise* I'm not egotistical and pretensious, even though this ad might make me sound that way.) - Mon, 12 Dec 2005 11:20am

Extensive & impressive influences... commendable philosophy too.

I've got my hands full at the moment, but it sounds like you'd be fun to work with sometime in the future.

Hey Mr. Drone, I was actually listening to your music earlier today from a link from a post you had here. I love electronic music; one of these days I'll have to figure out one of those new-fangled programs and learn how to do it myself... Cool stuff though. Too bad (for me) that you're so busy! - Mon, 12 Dec 2005 7:22pm

Hi Erin, I'm working with a drummer/producer on a musical project called The Dreamwave Project. We might like to have some keys for our sound, do you play any other instruments? Check out some of our tracks at http://www.myspace.com/dreamwavemusic - Mon, 12 Dec 2005 9:12pm

I really like your influences. I play drums, but I may be a bit too young (16) but if that doesn't matter you can email me at [email protected] - Tue, 13 Dec 2005 9:22pm

Hey there, my band might be looking for a keyboard player. If you send me your e-mail address, I'll send you some demo songs. No point in jamming together if you're not into our stuff. K. - Tue, 13 Dec 2005 11:06pm

Erin you sound like you would be THE keys player to have. Wicked influences (in my mind) and you sound like a pretty well-rounded musician.

How old are you? I know it's a stupid question. I'd like to jam with you anyways, me and another musician both play a bit of everything(drums bass guitar keys). My friend is the better on drums and bass and he would probably say I'm better on guitar and piano (though he's just as good on guitar). Our influences are similar we're both 22.

We've both have our own gear and a jamspot. December is really busy for both of us but if you haven't gotten locked into something by the start of the new year send an e-mail my way. Heck...send one now anyways if you think you'd be interested!

Cheers,

Hey, jaundice escariot, I am very into the Rheos. I am looking to do a few projects. One being heavy and stonerish, the other more melodic and experimental. I play guitar and some drums, let me know if you are interested in jamming. I am out of town right now, but am coming back on friday or saturday. Cheers - Wed, 14 Dec 2005 1:55pm

Hi Erin:-) I loved your profile and how you aprroach/listen/feel music,..my bandmate Psaje and i are very interested in doing some original work with you. Our music sounds like songs, music, art and poetry from a soundtrack you have heard or about to hear. It's alternative with a fusion of ambience and rock. It's songs from the heart of Father Sun, Mother Moon and their beautiful daughter Terra and her children which is all of us.

The Dreamwave Project music uses a variety of ambient themes/concepts/art and sounds melded with classical equipment, fused with a foundation of classic rock. It will fill your soul with music and colour as you close your eyes and be swept away in a minds/soulful journey.

K nuff ramblin heehhehe, anyhow we hope to get a opportunity to hear from you. Our email is [email protected] and our band website is: http://www.myspace.com/dreamwavemusic

P.S. Have a merry x-mas!-)

Erin is an incredible talent - beautiful vocals, lovely lyricist, great keyboard player - everyone should take her up on her offer and go make a band with her and support her in all her creative musical endeavours. :D

And she's a super nice person to boot.

Erin, if you need help with anything - let me know. It would be an honour. :D - Tue, 20 Dec 2005 3:10am

Hey Erin - I couldn't help but reply to your post, as I too have been out of a band-like situation for a few years now, and have really been craving some musical interaction and a creative outlet.

I'm mid-twenties, stable job, no drugs, and have been playing guitar for about 13 years, and keys for the last 4. I have a big analog/digital recording setup that is always expanding (see website) - and for anyone else reading this, I'm available for recording projects in january & february - and I spend as much time and money as I can spare on music.

I'm really into all of the indie rock & electronic acts you cited, plus a spattering of more obscure stuff. What I'm really interested in exploring right now is the space where indie rock meets electronic, a la broken social scene, you know, or sonic youth meets boards of canada, whatever that would sound like. I've got my hands so full of hardware (vintage & modern synths & modules, sampler, etc.) that is really inspirational for designing cool sounds, but I've been back to playing a lot of guitar recently.

That's probably enough rambling, if you're interested in talking about music, you can e-mail me at info *at* microphonic *dot* ca

Cheers,

Hello, Erin (et al).. I like the sounds of your likes, and your interest in the experimental and realm of the weird.. I too miss making noise with others. I'm just getting into playing guitar again after 3 yrs break. I definitely consider myself experimental- can't read or write music, just played by ear, but I'm taking instruction now. I played guitar, drums, and sang with an experimental and jam-based band in Montreal. We had two guitars, keys, violin, drums, hubcaps (yup), and harmonica. It was great- we didn't take ourselves too seriously, and it was pretty hilarious a lot of the time, but we came up with some pretty interesting and lovely pieces too. Since I've been here, I occasionally sing backup for a folk friend at the Spiral, and have had the occasional jam with others, but need more.. I'm into Iron and Wine, A Band of Horses, Mazzy Star, Tom Waits, PJ Harvey, Cat Power, Godspeed you, Black Emperor!, Gillian Welch, the Organ, Po' Girl, Be Good Tanyas, Radiohead, Boards of Canada, the X, Sigur Ros, Iva Bittova, Rokia Traore, Lilison di Kinara, early Tricky, Massive Attack, Goldfrapp, Dirty Three, Gorillaz, some older hiphop (Roots, NWA, Badu, Fugees, Digables, etc), Diamanda Galas, Elliot Smith, Beth Orton, Broken Social Scene, Deathcab, Wolf Parade, Calla, Rage Against the Machine, Magnetic Fields..etc etc. I'd love to offer up an evening a week to anyone into getting together in the interest of transcendance through sound. Thanks.. - Tue, 10 Jan 2006 5:35pm
