Bands wanted : All styles of bands are wanted for a battle of the bands starting Jan 11 at the jungle room on Pandora. Prizes are a 3 song demo and a web page of your band, every thing you need to shop your band and get more gigs. There will be two bands a night with mud wrestling in between each band . | big mike User Info... | This battle of the bands is at the jungle room but the promoter of the show is completely different. I am Mike Harford aka big mike I used to do the sound and booking at the cambie (before shitty management changed the format from punk and metal to country!) I have always done the best I could at getting the bar owners to pay top $ for new bands. My hope with the battle of the bands is to promote new music in vic, have a good time at the shows mixing the bands(I am doing sound), get some people in the bar to hear the bands and drink some booze so the owner lets us put on live music all the time and give one band the proper tools to shop them selves to other bars. This is why I have chosen to give the demo and web page as a grand prize the owner has tons of posters for this event ready to go up when the time is right. And I am also trying to get support from the community ie. Monday tc and music lovers in vic to talk about the shows and bands. This town has a shit load of talent and not enough places to hear them. no bar wants to gamble on unknown bands and you cant get a gig if you've never played one before so this botb will give the unknowns a shot. I am not getting payed for the administration of this event just for sound. I am doing this because the seen is kind of stagnant and it needs shaking up a bit. So please don't judge the event by the venues past track record just come down and party hard and support some new music and if all goes well a new venue.
