Hey folks what amp(s) do you play?
Just wanting to know the most popular company in Victoria.
I have owned Marshall JCM800, then I went to a Randall RH200SC, then I went to Peavey Ultra Plus(which I still have) and now I use a Peavey Rockmaster->Peavey Classic 60 Power amp.
With a crap load of Rack Gear. Cheers Lucius

Had a silverface Fender Bandmaster, but now play a Traynor YCV80 2x12. Would like a Vox AC30, or find a similar 30-50 watt 2x12 combo. - Thu, 17 Nov 2005 11:49am

I'm awaiting delivery of a Rivera Fandango 100 head, coupled with a Rivera 4x12 cab.

Used to play a Marshall JCM2000 DSL100... it was fun, but not quite what I needed. - Thu, 17 Nov 2005 3:22pm

I use a Bogner Uberschall for my pre-amp then a-b box it
through 2 Soldano 100watt heads. just kidding I used to be a Marshall guy 1983 jcm800 100 watt head, then recently
switched to Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier 100watt head.I've
found most all of the 100watt tube heads to be great, it all comes down to how much gain do you want? The mesa heads
actually have too much gain. For me it's better to have too much, and be able to dial it down, than not have enough
and always be struggling for "that sound" - Thu, 17 Nov 2005 9:56pm

Used to play through a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, 1x12 combo (30W). I miss it's clean tone, which sounds great with a strat - but it doesn't have the balls. I'm now playing a 100w dual rectifier through a Mesa 4 x 12 cab. It's got some great tones. A bit muddy, at times. I might try it with a different cab. - Fri, 18 Nov 2005 9:33am

For rock: mid-70's Hiwatt 50 watt head through a 4X12 Celestion (Randall) splitable cab. Or a 1960 Fender Bandmaster through the same cab (a bit less versatile but uglier).

For other stuff: mid-70's Ampeg V-4 through a Marshall 4 X 10 cab (LOUD!), a 1955 Fender Tremolux, LoneMonk's MusicMan 130 watt head through whatever and, my personal fave, an old 50's era Califone record player (with 12AX7's all through it) that is the ultimate amp for my old Jaguar (just plug it into the Microphone input). Nasty! - Sat, 19 Nov 2005 10:29pm

I Run XTLive and 2 atomic reactors for both stage and practice.
I used to have slash signature marshall, mesa boogie dc3,
marshall mosfet,line6 ax212, and old garnet amp
I really thaught the mesa Dc3 was pretty good and probally should have kept it around.
Wish list is Conford mk50, I have not tried but would like too if I see one.
The line 6 vetta 2 is also another digital rig that I very much liked when I tried it.

If I was playing original material live (more often) I would to have a mesa rectifier and a vox ac30 for clean.
but the variax/pod/atomic is my poor mans setup for now and am quite happy with it.

Note that 1 atomic is only 18 watts so it would not keep up
volume wize with a 100 or 50watt stack unless that 50 watt player had his amp between 2-4 on the master.

Atomic will soon have a 55 watt version avaiable for pod or preamp users. - Sat, 26 Nov 2005 12:48pm

MH-500 Metalhead™

2282000000

Truth be told … The first public audience to witness the mind-numbing, speaker-testing beast that is the Metalhead, was none other than our local authorities. After firing it up and delivering a few gut-wrenching power chords, car AND building alarms started sounding off throughout the complex where our R&D department resides – spurring the police to hightail it to our parking lot! Needless to say, we had some explaining to do …

One of the most powerful electric guitar amplification systems known to man, the Metalhead was designed from the ground up to deliver a no-nonsense, full-on guitar assault. Three independent preamp channels create the necessary tones for all modern, heavy guitar styles. The visual appearance is simple and timeless, with heavy-duty flight case hardware and chromed knobs and switches. This amp is made to survive the rigors of the road! Companion 4x12 cabinets (MH-412SL, MH-412ST) feature extreme-duty 100 watt Celestion®speakers and matching “flight case” construction.

550 watts!
MH-500 features include:
• 550 watts into 2 ohms (a pair of MH-412 cabinets)
• 400 watts into 4 ohms (a single MH-412 cabinet)
• All solid-state circuitry, reliable and maintenance-free; power amp is descended from one of our Professional Bass amplifier platforms
• Forced-air fan cooling
• Three-channel preamp voiced for the new millennium
• CLEAN channel is studio-pure, with tons of headroom
• TIGHT DRIVE channel covers the palette of vicious rock guitar tones
• LOOSE DRIVE combines copious distortion with high-headroom, uncontrolled power-amp rumble for modern drop-tuned metal, punk and beyond …
• BOOST knob allows footswitchable volume boost on any channel, effectively providing SIX channel performance
• 16 useful effects, including new GATE feature, which can be used for noise reduction or “stop-start” muting techniques
• Professional speaker-emulated XLR Line Out with Level control and Ground Lift
• Four-button footswitch is included
• Included display box contains 25 sets of foam earplugs ... You are going to need them!
