Alright,
I've never done a review on these boards, and I don't post very often, but I seriously thought it needed to be done. I just bought the album off of Dax the other day, and I've had it on repeat ever since.
The recording is pretty damn fine compared to a lot of the stuff to come out from Victoria. The entire album was really tight, it captured the feel of their live presence but felt really clean. I'm not a musician so I can't get technical, but I have been, and will continue to recommend this cd to anyone I talk to. 'Forget' is probably my favourite followed by 'Double Standard Control', and none of them let me down at all.
Last of all, which isn't even about the recordings, I actually really liked the cover, which felt a lot older than the new 'artsy' covers bands seem to put out now a days, and it seemed to suit the band a lot.
A definate two thumbs up.

I just picked up the FNM CD (awesome work on the CD, it looks pro), but is it just me, or do the levels sound wrong? To me it sounds like it was mixed incorrectly. I didn't like the CD when I first heard it, but I guess I'll have to listen to it a few times and make my judgement about it then. At the moment, it sounds like something is missing from the songs, and what's worse, the songs don't have much direction (chaos can be a wonderful thing tho'), then again, it's just me making comments about the CD right? - Mon, 14 Nov 2005 7:02pm

Griphin you obviously bought the wrong cd or you need a punch in the mouth. Paulverizer, will you oblige this young fellow. Hmmmm and by 'not much direction' are you referring to my life again. Im very sensitive about my 'going nowhere fastness'. - Mon, 14 Nov 2005 7:12pm

It is what it is. I'm very proud of it. keep in mind, start
to finished product in the studio 10hrs total, no mastering
mixed on the fly. I think Brainless did a great job. This is a 5 song demo cd produced on a small budget. To our fans
who buy it and enjoy it thank you for your support. - Mon, 14 Nov 2005 7:41pm

Heh... serious, I noticed it in the first track (I don't think I bought the wrong CD), to me the drum track sounds like it was played in a tin can. I doubt the levels on my stereo are wrong tho'. Beats me about direction, I mean it's not like I'm in a band or anything (yet!). - Mon, 14 Nov 2005 7:58pm

Hey I'm sorry, but that's what it sounded like to me. Sigh... it does though. Beats me how he recorded the drum tracks, unless he used the Tascam to record the drums seperate from the reel to reel, least he did with The Remanes recordings. I'll ask him next time I see him. Perhaps I just heard it wrong. Of course, it could also do with spending 10 hrs of recording/mastering/finalizing it. Was the audio mastered?!?

You do realize that I am allowed to post my own opinions about the CD, so tough shit if you don't like what I post :), then again it's not like I'll ever record anything, well, cept for my failed attempt at recording that one song you can find here. And so much for seeing me at gigs, I stopped going to them, so really the only place you'll find me is at home. So quit being such a fuckin' bully and grow the fuck up!!!

You know, maybe I'll just return the CD to Ditch records, of course, just return it, not asking for a money refund. - Tue, 15 Nov 2005 1:46pm

Oh get over yourself and learn to take a joke. If you hate the damn thing so much I'll refund the money myself.....in punches to the mouth that is.....(that was another joke in case you missed it) - Tue, 15 Nov 2005 6:47pm

Serious... if you cannot treat your fanbase seriously, and you feel the need to crack jokes, then you'll lose your fanbase. I knew they were jokes, honest. I'm not returning the CD to get my money back, I'm just returning the CD (that wasn't a point of returning the CD for money, just incase you missed that :). Face it, if you had spent longer then 10 hours on the CD, it would of sounded a lot better!!! Now time to delete the album off my drive. - Tue, 15 Nov 2005 7:02pm

Holy cow somebody needs a nap. Personally I thought my $5 was well spent. Now I just have to get it autographed lol. I'm actually listening to it right now and I just don't hear what you are talking about Griphin. Everybody has the right to their own opinions for sure. And my opinion is BUY THIS CD!!! Can't wait to see you guys play live again! - Tue, 15 Nov 2005 7:23pm

Ya I hate it when people joke around. I REALLY hate laughter and having fun. How dare I try to make light of someone not liking our cd. What was I thinking? Fuck Im a prick........heheh I said 'prick'. PERSONALLY I think the quality of the CD as a $5 purchase is pretty sweet. I was selling crap ass cassette demos 15 years ago for $5. As for the songs themselves, everyone is indeed entitled to their own opinion. I do music for me. If people like it, then cool. If not, then they get punches to the mouth.....you heard me! - Tue, 15 Nov 2005 8:22pm

Heh... yeah, buy the CD, and see the band live. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL SCENE!!! I dunno about napping, I'm just getting fedup a lot more now, guess that's what happens when your getting over a head injury. I'm not sorry about my outbursts, shit happens ya know. Just because I did not like how the CD turned out does not mean someone else won't like how it sounds. As per usual, ignore me. - Tue, 15 Nov 2005 8:27pm

You got that right! Debt is the werd.
Seeing as me and Mike paid for that disc to be created, you owe us 1/5th. After all expenses, that'll come to $900.
We take cash only. Canadian funds will be fine.
And your hair was dry and damaged, much like your ass after a night at a Turbonegro concert {they are a great band, so save your PC whining for someone who cares}. - Mon, 21 Nov 2005 2:48pm
