HOUSE OF BLUES CONCERTS CANADA presents

THE DANDY WARHOLS

With special guests THE OUT CROWD

TUESDAY NOVEMBER 15TH

COMMODORE BALLROOM

868 GRANVILLE STREET

COMMODORE BALLROOM INFOLINE: 739-SHOW

DOORS: 8:00 pm SHOW: 9:15 pm

From the beginning The Dandy Warhols have shown an awareness of pop culture nearly as acute as the Portland quartet's sense of what makes a terrific rock song. Cheeky and ironic, yet revelling in what it means to be a rock 'n' roll band in this day and age, the group has combined intelligence and an instinctual sense of melody to write and record some of the most engaging alt-rock/pop singles of the last decade. These include "Not if You Were the Last Junkie on Earth" and "Everyday Should Be a Holiday" (from 1998's Come Down) and "We Used to Be Friends" (off 2003's Welcome to the Monkey House). Combining elements from the last 40 years of rock 'n' roll, the Dandys are never shy about paying homage to influences like the Velvet Underground, the Rolling Stones and David Bowie (one of the group's biggest fans).

Now, with their appearance in the acclaimed (and 2004 Sundance Grand Jury award-winning) documentary Dig!, the Dandy Warhols have expanded their audience. Anticipation is high for the group's latest, Odditorium or Warlords of Mars, which promises to be another masterpiece of sex, strife, beauty and attitude. With a knack for both embodying and spoofing rock 'n' roll traditions, the Dandys' accompanying tour is sure to live up to their reputation for onstage antics, glamour and a musical mindtrip.

Opening the show will be The Out Crowd featuring another star of the Dig! documentary Matt Hollywood. After moving to Portland in 1998 Matt and his cohorts in The Out Crowd released their debut record Then I Saw the Holy City and have toured constantly ever since.

The Dandy Warhols with special guests The Out Crowd should be an amazing show November 15th at the Commodore Ballroom.
