Her debut album Exile in Guyville ushered in a new era in confessional female singer/songwriter that others have been striving to live up to ever since. Phair herself has honed her skills as a singer and writer over the years and with each successive album has achieved a new career high. For her last self-titled album, Phair recorded her most accessible, commercial and catchiest record yet, and one that introduced her to a whole new audience. Tours with the likes of the Flaming Lips and her own headlining shows, during which she performed the songs that have earned her loyal fans over the years, reminded everyone of one of the coolest and most enviable song catalogues around. "Divorce Song," "Flower," "Supernova," "Uncle Alvarez" and "Why Can't I" are just some of the catchy, clever, and funny tunes that have made Liz one of the most influential songwriters to have come out of the '90 alt-rock scene.
