| Events User Info... | HOUSE OF BLUES CONCERTS CANADA MESHUGGAH With special guestS GOD FORBID, THE HAUNTED AND MNEMIC MONDAY, OCTOBER 24TH CROATIAN CULTURAL CENTRE VANCOUVER, BC DOORS 6:30 pm SHOW 7:00 pm ***ALL-AGES SHOW*** Formed in 1987 in Umea, Sweden, Meshuggah has developed into what Rolling Stone magazine calls "One of the ten most important hard and heavy bands" in the world. A 1989 vinyl-only release, Psykisk Testbuild introduced the band to a small coterie of metal aficionados, but it wasn't the official debut full-length Contradictions Collapse and follow-up noise assaults None and the classic EP Self-Caged that the band became known to the world at large. Today, the band reigns supreme in experimental and avant-garde metal circles, where Meshuggah is regarded as a groundbreaking act for its ability to combine ultra-complicated rhythm patterns with massive riffs and aggressive growls. The result is a hybrid of death metal, grindcore, mathcore, thrash and progressive metal that is completely its own. The five-piece's aggressive style, which sets harsh and cold riff-massacres alongside sinister and disturbing interludes, has earned the band tours with the likes of Entombed, Slayer, the Ozzfest festival and Tool. Metal fans hungry for a fix of the real thing by one of the best can look forward to a fall tour in support of Meshuggah's most recent release, Catchy ThirtyThree.
